Memonix 1.6

Memonix 1.6

Memonix game features a wonderful collection of four brain twisters, including Mosaic, Builder, Pair and Jigsaw. more>>
Memonix game features a wonderful collection of four brain twisters, including Mosaic, Builder, Pair and Jigsaw. While being amazingly addictive and fun to play, these games can be used to improve your childs memory, brainpower, thinking and reaction. Five difficulty levels from normal to obscene plus the timer mean that the challenge will never run away. Joyful music and brightly-colored visuals maximize the excitement from the gameplay.To test the benefits of these games, you can free download and play a trial version.

Memonix features a pick-up-and-play interface that will take children little time to learn and start playing without their parents guidance. Another good thing about Memonix is the availability of countless addons for all four games. They can be downloaded online for free without even leaving the game environment.

Mosaic. In Mosaic, the players objective is to memorize the position of different objects such as triangles, squares, and mugs scattered on the playfield and, after short viewing, reassemble the same pattern. When the player goes one level up, the complexity of the game increases. On the easiest level, the objects are arranged symmetrically so, the player needs to remember only half of the playfield. However, on the most difficult level, the player has to memorize not only position, but color of each object.

Builder. For all its seeming similarity to the previous puzzle, Builder has a slightly different objective – to view an image of a house and, then, reassemble the image by piecing up tiles with various house parts.

Pair. While Builder develops child’s memory and logic thinking, the third game - Pair puts more emphasis on the development of the visual memory. Here, the player must uncover and match two similar objects on the covered playfield.

Jigsaw. In Jigsaw, the player meets a classic jigsaw puzzle gameplay in its purest form where the objective is to reassemble a picture from scattered image tiles.

wmjmail 1.6

wmjmail 1.6

wmjmail is a very simple text based mail checker. more>>
wmjmail is a very simple text based mail checker. It is not designed for pop3 mailbox checking--just use fetchmail to d/l it all, then check it locally. It includes a small tool kit to help write your own dockapps.
I set out to create a mail checker. I got tired of re-engineering someones dock app every time I needed a new one. So I designed jDockApp. My very very new dock app library. jDockApp isnt really ready for release yet. Which is why its not being released separately. If youre looking for a text based dock app to re-engineer for something, this might be a good candidate. Eh... Heres a source sample for this app:
jpprintf(0, 0, YELLOW, " J-mail");
jpprintf(1, 2, BLUE, "New");
jprintf(GREEN, ":");
jpprintf(7, 2, CYAN, "%i", new);
jpprintf(1, 3, BLUE, "Read");
jprintf(GREEN, ":");
jpprintf(7, 3, CYAN, "%i", read);
jpprintf(1, 4, BLUE, "Total");
jprintf(GREEN, ":");
jpprintf(7, 4, CYAN, "%i", tot);
Enhancements:
- multiple mailbox bugfixes

pam_smxs 1.6

pam_smxs 1.6

pam_smxs is a PAM module that authenticates a user using challenge-response. more>>
pam_smxs is a PAM module that authenticates a user using challenge-response. All tokens that support ANSI X9.9 are currently supported and it provides full support for CryptoCard RB1 tokens.

Installation from source:

Unpack the tarball: tar -zxvf pam_smxs-1.6-1.tar.gz
Change into that dir: cd pam_smxs-1.6, and do a ./configure --enable-rb1 issue a make.
After that, you should end op with a pam_smxs.so file in the dir you are in now. A make install should install the module.

Configuration:

After installing the module (it should be in /lib/security), the following is neccesary to make it work:

Edit the /etc/pam.d/xxx file, where xxx is a service, for example login. In that case, edit /etc/pam.d/login

Normally it looks something like this:

#%PAM-1.0
auth required /lib/security/pam_securetty.so
auth required /lib/security/pam_pwdb.so shadow nullok
auth required /lib/security/pam_nologin.so
accountrequired /lib/security/pam_pwdb.so
password required /lib/security/pam_cracklib.so
password required /lib/security/pam_pwdb.so shadow nullok use_authtok
password required /lib/security/pam_smxs.so
session required /lib/security/pam_pwdb.so
session optional /lib/security/pam_console.so
session required /lib/security/pam_limits.so

Im using this on instead :
auth required /lib/security/pam_securetty.so
auth required /lib/security/pam_smxs.so
auth required /lib/security/pam_nologin.so
accountrequired /lib/security/pam_smxs.so
password required /lib/security/pam_smxs.so
session required /lib/security/pam_smxs.so
session optional /lib/security/pam_console.so
session required /lib/security/pam_limits.so

This will let the users authenticate using pam_smxs. Also see the PAM documentation for futher configuration directives.

Then use the cryptoadm program to add / remove / modify users.

newsx 1.6

newsx 1.6

Newsx is an NNTP client for Unix. more>>
Newsx is an NNTP client for Unix. It connects to remote NNTP servers and receives incoming and outgoing articles
Newsx is also well suited for large spools with normal feeds, being used for pulling newsgroups from specific NNTP servers that are not distributed in the usual manner. Since newsx obeys the normal news spool configuration file and requires little or no specific configuration, the administrative burden should be minimized.
Main features:
- compatible with C News and INN local news servers
- configuration relies on standard C News and INN mechanisms for setting up newsservers and newsgroups
- setting of which newsgroups will be exchanged with which remote server based on sys or newsfeeds files, making administration easy
- logging of errors that occurred, as well as article transfer statistics
- optional log file for actual articles posted, and collection of posted articles in folders
- has been designed to be nice, so as not to overload the remote news server
- uses only standard RFC-977 functions, so should be compatible with the vast majority of news servers
- comprehensive error recovery for posting as well as for fetching; failed postings will be retried at the next opportunity, while fetching will resume at the point where it stopped
- refers to news history database to prevent fetching of articles already in the local spool. will not fetch crossposted articles more than once. does not rely on Xref, since many sites does not provide it.
- interface to popular news filters like Cleanfeed
Pulling news
News transfer via fetching to local news spools is sometimes claimed to be an inefficient way of transferring news compared to connecting newsreaders directly to the remote NNTP server.
The fact of the matter is that if set up and used correctly, exactly the opposite is the case.
A local news spool allows news transfer to occur at off-peak hours, thereby decreasing the host server load in the critical period. This will tie up less modems at peak hours, as well as decreasing the connect time since the actual transfer will run much quicker.
A fetch based system is also easier to administrate then the feeding kind, since every site decides for itself what groups it will exchange with whom. The major down-side is that article propagation times will be longer. For sites that are leafs in the news distribution tree, this is usually not very important.
Much of the problems connected with news pulling is connected to the use of the RFC-977 NEWNEWS command. Most news servers has implemented this command in an inefficient manner, which will put severe loads on the newsserver. Newsx does not use NEWNEWS.

hexdump 1.6

hexdump 1.6

hexdump is a hex dumper that can handle EBCDIC. more>>
hexdump produces a CP/M-like format by default, and can handle EBCDIC. It is internationalized, and has many formatting functions.
This hex dumper was born because
a) od octal format is appallingly ugly
b) od -x aint much better
c) I needed to dump EBCDIC files from SNA sessions
d) I needed to dump single blocks of files offset into the file.
If any of these describes your universe, youll like it too. The format resembles a CP/M or MS/DOS DEBUG dump screen. There is nothing UNIX-specific in the source, it should work OK under any C with a stdio.h library.
