duckmaze 0.1

duckmaze 0.1

duckmaze is a game about a duck that is in a maze. more>>
duckmaze is a game about a duck that is in a maze. The duck can move walls, but only if there are no walls in the way (it makes sense when you try it).
duckmaze is a simple puzzle game which starts with easy levels but progresses to some quite tricky ones.
NOTE: At the moment, duckmaze only has 8 levels, and most of them are quite easy. More levels are being written, and the game includes a full level editor, so feel free to help out!
NOTE: At the moment, duckmaze has no sound effects or music. This will be fixed soon!
Playing duckmaze
Press any key to start, and use the arrow keys to control the duck. Try to get out of the maze, and dont forget you can move walls, but only if there is not another wall in the way!
You can also use the good old fashioned O, P, Q, A key layout you remember from your ZX Spectrum days. You can also redefine the keys by modifying the config file in ~/.duckmaze/config. Figuring out the format of that file is left as an exercise for the reader.
Press ESCAPE on the title screen to enter the menu, which allows you to change the level you start at (once you have unlocked them) and turn the music and sound effects on or off. You can also go to the level editor from this menu (see later). Press ESCAPE during the game to pause or quit.
Creating Levels:
Press ESCAPE and choose Level editor from the menu. You can either create a new level, or load one you have already created.
One you have created or loaded a level, you will see the level, and your cursor to add or remove walls. Move the cursor using the mouse or the arrow keys, and left-click (or press RETURN) to add or remove a wall, and right-click (or press SPACE) to move the start position of the duck.
When you are happy with your level, press ESCAPE to display the menu and choose Save level. You can choose to save it as a new custom level, or overwrite one you saved before.
Please send in your level designs to duckmaze-devel at lists dot sourceforge dot net. It would be great to see them, and if theyre tricky and/or interesting enough, they will appear in the next release!
NOTE: At the moment, there is no easy way to play the levels you create. They are saved in the levels directory inside the duckmaze directory, and to play them you must rename them from custom_xxx to level_xxx. When you have done that, they will become part of the normal game. This will be fixed in a future version, so that you can play custom levels directly.
Enhancements:
- The game mechanics and level editor are in place, but there are only 8 levels, and no sound effects or music.

SuperMaze software is a simple to learn and play humorous non-violent hunt-and-shoot game using Smileys as the main actors in a maze style environment. You dont need more than the cursor keys and the space key to control your Smiley. The aim of the game is simple: Hunt each other and try to reach as first the win score.

There are several different mazes supplied with the game in various sizes and styles. SuperMaze is fully networked and multi platform and so playable on a vast amount of computers. Windows and Linux builds are already available. Needless to say that all platforms may play together in networked games.

The game does not require the very latest hardware. A moderate system with 800 Mhz is sufficient to play. See the Screenshots section for some visual impressions.

SuperMaze is freeware! Download your version of the game right now and play a round with up to 15 of your friends online or in a LAN.

Games::Maze::SVG::Manual 0.75

Games::Maze::SVG::Manual 0.75

Games::Maze::SVG::Manual is a Perl module with manual for the Games::Maze::SVG modules. more>>
Games::Maze::SVG::Manual is a Perl module with manual for the Games::Maze::SVG modules.

PURPOSE

The Games::Maze::SVG module supports the creation of 2-dimensional mazes in an SVG format suitable for printing or playing interactively. This module use the Games::Maze module to perform the actual work of creating the mazes.

HISTORY

During the middle of 2004, my son was extremely interested in mazes. We could not get enough mazes for him to solve. As a Perl programmer, I decided there must be some way to generate mazes and went to CPAN. I found Games::Maze. I printed a few pages of these mazes, and he was happy.

Unfortunately, the ASCII-based maze was not really satisfying for me. So I wrote code to convert the output of Games::Maze to SVG. This made much nicer looking mazes. I worked for a while to make the lines look better and to vary the corners to generate mazes that looked even better.

But the mazes were still missing something. So, I added the scripting support that would make the maze playable. I wrapped an HTML form around the generation program to allow it to be launched from the web.

I made this version available on my website. A friend of mine made some suggestions for individual visual changes that I incorporated. The design of the code did not change much during the next year. It was still a quick hacked wrapper around Games::Maze without much flexibility.

A year later, a comment on the SVG Developers mailing list made me dust off the code with an ey towards making a legitimate Perl module out of it. When I began looking at the code again, I realized that the original had been more of a hack than I remembered. The new version still could use some significant cleanup, but I am much happier with the overall design.

SYNOPSIS

use Games::Maze::SVG;

my $maze = Games::Maze::SVG->new( Rect, wallform => roundcorners );

my $svgout = $maze->toString();

OVERVIEW

The Games::Maze::SVG module can produce interactive or non-interactive mazes in SVG of three basic shapes. The shape of the maze is determined by the first parameter. This parameter is a string with one of the following values:

Rect

A maze with a rectangular overall shape and rectangular hallways.

RectHex

A maze with a rectangular overall shape and hallways made from hexagonal cells.

Hex

A maze with a hexagonal overall shape and hallways made from hexagonal cells.

The mazes can be further configured using a set of named parameters that follow the shape parameter. Most of these parameters are independent of the shape chosen. In addition, the mazeparams parameter supports passing parameters directly to the internal Games::Maze object which is used to create the maze.

Ladder 1.3

Ladder 1.3

Ladder brings us back to the days of classic computer games. more>>
Ladder project brings us back to the days of classic computer games. Back when computer games were written without any fancy graphics. Heck, they were written without any graphics at all!

Using only ASCII characters, ladder was an addictive game that was very popular for computers running the CPM operating system. Seeing the game, you might be very much reminded of "Donkey Kong".

Now Ladder has been rewritten in Java and can be played on most of todays computers. This version includes all the original levels and several new ones. It also comes with a level editor so that you can make your own.

Usage:

You are a lad trapped in a maze. Youre mission is to explore the dark corridors never before seen by human eyes and find hidden treasures and riches.

You control the lad by typing the direction buttons and by jumping by typing SPACE. But beware of the falling rocks called Der rocks. You must also find and grasp the treasure (shown as $) BEFORE the bonus time runs out.

A new lad will be awarded for every 10,000 points. Extra points are awarded for touching the gold statues (shown as &). You will receive the bonus time points that are left when you have finished the level.

Remember, there is more than one way to skin a cat. (Chum)

Good luck lad.

X-bomber project is a multiplayer game for Unix systems.
"X-Bomber" is multi-player maze-style game where players collect and drop bombs, in an attempt to blow each other up. Last player standing wins!

- 2 types of bombs - normal, and remote-controlled

- Occasionally, random boxes of explosive TNT
- 100 level maps!
