Light Speed! project is an interactive relativistic simulator.
Light Speed! is an OpenGL-based program which illustrates the effects of special relativity on the appearance of moving objects.
When an object accelerates past a few million meters per second, these effects begin to grow noticeable, becoming more and more pronounced as the speed of light is approached.
These relativistic effects are viewpoint-dependent, and include shifts in length, object hue, brightness and shape.
Main features:
- Real-time interactive viewing
- 3D object importer
- Snapshot exporter
- Special Relativity Scene (SRS) exporter
- Reference geometry
- Independent toggles for the four relativistic effects
- Numerical camera location + target readout and input

Azureus Speed Control 1.0

Azureus Speed Control 1.0

Azureus Speed Control is a project that enables automatic configuration of your upload limit. more>>
Azureus Speed Control is a project that enables automatic configuration of your upload limit. This addresses the problem of implicit additional upload when Azureus downloads with high speed, which can lead to connection choking. This is a problem specially for users with low upload bandwidth like German ADSL users.

If your download rate increases, the upload limit will be reduced by a value that can be customized. If the download rate decreases, the upload limit will increase again.

Set CD-ROM Speed 1.1.6

Set CD-ROM Speed 1.1.6

Set CD-ROM Speed is written in Kommander as a helpful application to set CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drive speed more>> Set CD-ROM Speed 1.1.6 is written in Kommander as a helpful application to set CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drive speed. Since the issues mentioned here apply to CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives as well as to recorders for these types of media, in this document the name 'CD-ROM drive' will be used to refer to all of these drive types.

Major Features:

  1. Fast CD-ROM drives have one big disadvantage over older and slower models. In order to be able to support high data transfer speeds, the CD-ROM disk must spin very quickly in the disk drive, which results in a lot of noise. This loud humming can make listening to MP3 or OGG music from CD-ROMs a very unpleasant experience and is very annoying at best for other tasks which don't require the CD-ROM to work at full speed.
  2. Using set-cd-rom-speed, you can decrease the drive's speed and thus reduce the annoying noise. The GUI allows choosing three predefined speeds suitable for different tasks and custom speeds provided by the user. The list of available CD-ROM drives is generated based on information from /etc/fstab. This works even if you use supermount-ng or subfs for mounting the CD-ROMs. The program supports multiple languages and several translations are available. It also integrates with KDE by adding an item which allows setting drive speed to the context menu of CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drive icons displayed on the desktop.
Enhancements:
  • Added Czech translation (thanks to Jozef Riha)
  • Fixes in Slovak translation (thanks to Jozef Riha)
  • Two variants of Brazilian Portuguese translation merged into one (thanks to Dherik Barison)

I have tried to keep the spirit of the original theme intact -Minimum CPU usage, maximum information.

I added a few bars to indicate CPU usage, HDD info and XMMS slider. Heres what the theme contains :

Clock from Simplewidgets
CPU info
Network Load
XMMS information (no Controls)
HDD info
Outbound Processes info

Most things are from Sanjays theme, unmodified. I just integrated all themes into one (I am bad at coding !)

DMAring 0.9

DMAring 0.9

DMAring project is a novel generic network interface card driver architecture. more>>
DMAring project is a novel generic network interface card driver architecture which works in hybrid interrupt-polling mode to deliver superior real-time performance on Linux, Redhat Linux or Linux-RTAI-LXRT (a real-time co-kernel for Linux with user level extension).

Existing Linux drivers are inefficient, they saturate the CPU at a much lower packet rates than the maximum wire line packet rate that is possible. But with this driver, vanilla network cards can be used for high speed packet capturing. This driver improves the packet capturing speed by 7 to 10 times, and the real-time packet delivery response by 500 to 5000 times over existing drivers and alternate approaches (HIP, NAPI, pfring, check the references in the papers for performance comparisons [1, 2, 3]), depending on whether Redhat Linux or RTAI is used. Thus this obviates the need for expensive high capacity hardware, specialized network data acquisition cards and systems (for example from Endace).

This project contain basic source codes, which other developers can use/adapt for their applications, and three published conference papers [1, 2, 3] describes the architecture and establishes its benefits. One of the papers (at SANE 2006) also documents the detailed architecture and provides guidelines to modify any Linux network interface driver (Donald Becker style drivers).

Earlier I had received lot of mail request from networking, network security/monitoring domain people, to get these codes or modified specific network drivers. I am looking forward that some developer will take up this project, churn out driver modifications for the most common net work cards and share with others. I will continue to add other drivers, and libpcap library modifications when I get more time.

Anybody willing to know the issues involved in real-time Linux or looking for real-time networking solutions can take a look at my Masters thesis. I found RTAI with LXRT to be a very tractable, good performance, cheap (free!) real-time Linux option. My thesis contains some useful performance related discussions on this.

Approximator Line 1.2.934.b

Approximator Line 1.2.934.b

Approximator Line is an application which allows to synthesize approximation function of one argument. more>>
Approximator Line is an application which allows to synthesize approximation function of one argument. Both coordinates of known points or mathematical expression can be used as input data.
The application uses evolutionary algorithm which allows to find more optimal results. The enhanced evolutionary algorithm allows to avoid long-time hitting to local maximum.
In few hours the application can evaluate milliards of combinations with using of reasonable number of input data points and on contemporary computer. Approximator Line uses multithreading that can help to utilize maximum computation power.
Approximator Lines primary goal is to search of function, which value, most come nearer to the initial data. The preference is given the smallest functions. The weight of this preference is established in options of synthesis.
Search of function is made by the next way:
The random mathematical variant is under construction. Its fitness to the data is calculated. Further the variant is copied and changes. Fitness of the changed variant is calculated. If it is more, the new variant becomes base. It is simplified.
Key parameter of the found function is fitness of its set goal. Fitness is expressed in percentage. Its value depends on a way of the assignment of fitness of a point (it is established in parameters of synthesis). The program uses two basic such as fitness:
General fitness
Calculates on the general points.
Additional fitness
Calculates on general and additional points. It is used for more exact definition of fitness. It also is used for avoidance of a finding of such functions which correspond to the basic points, but in an interval between them strongly differ.
Additional fitness is used for a finding of the most corresponding functions at smaller amount of computing expenses as it calculates only if the basic fitness more than at the previous variant. Besides each of the mentioned above fitness can be normal or effective.
Normal fitness
Fitness in view of amount of elements of expression.
Effective fitness
Fitness without taking into account amount of elements of expression.
In the list of results normal additional conformity and effective additional conformity is accordingly displayed.
By search of the most suitable variant, or in other words synthesis cancelation constant subexprassions is made also.
Synthesis is based on use of random numbers. Functions making expression, operators variables and numbers get out randomly. The application is optimized on speed. So synthesized function in memory represents a tree of mathematical objects. Values of function are calculates by the most effective way. The mutation also is made above a tree of objects.
Usage:
- Determine the form of the input data (coordinates or expression).
- Choose points of your graph. Synthesis will be estimated on them.
- Enter coordinates of points (use autonumbering for simplification of input) or expression.
- Determine a range of value of function, amount of the basic points, amount of additional points.
- Open parameters of synthesis and adjust if it is necessary.
- Save the project.
- Press Start of synthesis.
- Pass to results and see on them.
- Leave the application working on long time.
- Periodically check results. When the application will find, in your opinion, suitable function, press Stop and save results.

Accelerando is a musical metronome that can speed up the music, allowing you to practice your music at progressively faster tempos.
For example, you could set it to play 60 beats per minute for 4 bars, then automatically speed up by 10 beats per minute, and so on.
It runs on Unix. It has dependencies on Perl/Tk, sox, and festival, all of which are available via Debian apt-get. To install it, download and unpack the tarball, and do a "make install".
Enhancements:
- A maximum tempo can be set.
- The tempo will then approach this limit more and more closely without ever going faster than the maximum.

TrafIP 3.3

TrafIP 3.3

TrafIP provides a small solution for monitoring traffic and bandwith. more>>
TrafIP provides a small solution for monitoring traffic and bandwith.
TrafIP - its a small solution(3 files) for monitoring your traffic and bandwidth. Its available for using with PHP and Linux(or any type of unix/bsd etc).
Unlike other programs you will have all data updated at 6 seconds. The graphs are generated when you access them. Oh, its FREE!
Options:
- the name of file wich contains colected data
- ip address filtered/of interface
- the maximum speed than the line can download in 6 seconds. if you see black lines without interface to be down, then increase this value, it is just to detect line up/down
- the color for upload traffic
- the color for download traffic
- image type png recomended for small size and look(can be png, gif or jpg)
Installation is easy. Just add those lines to your firewall or put somewhere to start allways.
After this modify the collect.sh script with the result from your iptables -L -n. And of course put the .php files somewhere to access via www :) and make the directory writeable.
The output file must be in the directory where are the php files. By default without selecting anything will show last hour traffic. Its pretty live(update at 6 seconds, not like other programs).
Quick example:
[root@lair trafip]# iptables -A OUTPUT -s 0.0.0.0/0 -d 127.0.0.1
[root@lair trafip]# iptables -A INPUT -d 0.0.0.0/0 -s 127.0.0.1
[root@lair trafip]# iptables -L -n|grep 127|grep -v ACCEPT|grep -v LOG|grep -v DROP
all -- 127.0.0.1 0.0.0.0/0
all -- 0.0.0.0/0 127.0.0.1
Get the strings "127.0.0.1 0.0.0.0/0" and "0.0.0.0/0 127.0.0.1" and put in collect.sh. Must be exact like iptables shows(better you copy paste that part). The script collect.sh must be allways running to count.
In img.php modify:
$target variable with the name where you redirect the output from collect.sh(ex: $target="local";)
$ip variable with the IP(ex: $ip="127.0.0.1";)
$maxspeed variable with the maximum maxim traffic can be done in 6 seconds(ex: $ip="115200";). If you have black lines on your graph without stopping the interface/traffic the increase the value.
$upload variable with red or green(ex: $upload="red";)
$download variable with red or green(ex: $download="green";)
$imagetype variable with png, gif or jpg, if for output format of graph(ex: $imagetype="gif")
The output file must be something like:
11/12/02 05:57:26 10782702 149477806
11/12/02 05:57:32 10783170 149489806
11/12/02 05:57:38 10783810 149509426
(format: month/day/year[space]hour:minutte:second[space]INPUT_counter[space]OUTPUT_counter
Enhancements:
- New output formats
- an interface to see detailed traffic.
