Free matter of time software for linux

Grey Matter is a CGI-based logging application suitable for a variety of purposes, mainly blogging. The project doesnt require a backend database and features a very flexible template system, as well as a karma and comment system.
Enhancements:
- Continuing code refactoring, with small admin UI enhancements such as paging on very long screens.
- Contains security enhancements and bugfixes as well.

Bookmark Time is an Amarok script that lets you bookmark a point in time in a music file.

When you play it again, you can choose the bookmarked times from the mouse menu.

WMitime is yet another clock dock app (and quite overglorified at that! WMitime shows standard time, date, as well as the new internet time (see www.swatch.com)

The HTTP Time Protocl (HTP) system is a set of utilities to set and maintain the system clock from the HTTP/1.1 (RFC 2616) "Date:" header. HTP requires Libconfig.
The purpose of HTP is provide a simple to use system that can be used on any system that is connected to the internet and can access atleast one web page (either directly or through a proxy) to be able to maintain an accurate clock.
HTTP Time Protocol uses basic statistical analysis to arrive at the most accurate time possible given enough servers. The more servers HTP is configured to use the more accurate the clock can be.
Enhancements:
- Cleanup/simplification of the code.
- A more robust implementation of the "-p" (precision) switch.

The ORTE is an implementation of the RTPS communication protocol defined by Real Time Innovations.

RTPS is an application layer protocol targeted to the real-time communication area. It is built on top of a standard UDP stack.

This protocol is being submitted to the IETF as an informational RFC and has been adopted by the IDA group.

Ruby Time Tracker is a stable and complete time tracking system for small businesses that invoice for time spent by several employees on many projects.

Future Plans

Planned upgrades include:

Locking down past periods so that no entries can be made or changed after invoicing
Custom periods so that users may define billing cycles for thier company
Reminders sent to employees who have not made entries daily or at the end of a billing cycle

Two Versions

There are currently two versions in development. The professional version uses a MySQL database and requires some knowlege of installing and configuring Ruby on Rails applications to install. The lite version includes an installer that will install and configure an SQLight database and a webrick web server for easy installation. Development is being done on the professional version and periodically the lite version will be updated to include new functionality.

Play What I Mean project allows a user to, from a single commandline or terminal, enter a string, or list of strings, that represent what he/she wishes to have played by whatsoever media player he chooses, the default being MPlayer, and then having that particular item be found and played.
What this essentially means is that if I were to have a sudden hankering to listen to a particular song or video, lets say Ice Pick by The Pillows, which happens to be the song to a particular music video that I enjoy watching. Under the traditional methods of video viewing I would be stuck with two potential courses of action for playing this particular file:
- Change directories several times to that one folder somewhere that I "know" its in, or
- Point and Click my mouse until I find that same directory and then search through what could be countless files to find it.
Each of these prospective choices have their own inherent difficulties and ire. Using the commandline often requires alot of typing to arrive at the desired directory, often times nestled deep within the tree.
Once there your problems only multiply by the number of files you actually store in your "media" folder, try ls | moreing through a heavily populated folder looking for the name of that file you wanted to play sometime, it isnt too fun and further is a waste of my valuable time.
You may be thinking at this point that the second option, the graphical one, must be easier since its exciting, full of pictures, and frankly novel, I disagree. I may not be the best judge on this matter, seeing as how I cant see out of my right eye however, I feel that scanning through a large folder, or folders, full of files is quite a strain on the vision, and more importantly an unnescesary burden on what should be a simple matter.
