Currently supported operations are:
- Play/Pause
- Pause
- Stop
- Next Track
- Previous Track
Simply run the script, no configuration of the script itself is required. The desired keyboard shortcuts can be configured by selecting "System-->Prefrences-->Keyboard Shortcuts" from the Gnome panel.

Fedora Multimedia Installation HOWTO 5.1
Fedora Multimedia Installation HOWTO will explain how to get various multimedia apps working under Fedora Core. more>>
Fedora Multimedia Installation HOWTO will explain how to get various multimedia apps working under Fedora Core.
How to get various proprietary and restricted multimedia Damned Things (AVI, Flash, Java, MP3, MPEG, QuickTime, RealMedia, Windows Media) working under Fedora Core using your normal package-management tools. Includes Firefox-plugin instructions. Now with coverage of both 32- and 64-bit Intel-architecture systems.
Unfortunately, the news in FC5 is almost all bad. Totem and Xine are both completely broken.
There are some Damned Things like enabling Java and Flash in Mozilla, playing MP3 files, playing Quicktime/AVI/RealMedia/Windows Media streams, and playing encrypted DVDs that the Fedora distro folks wont tell you how to do, either because theyre afraid of being sued under the DMCA or for various other esthetic and political reasons.
This HOWTO collects the relevant information in one place. It is not a general multimedia-on-Linux HOWTO; if it were, there are hundreds of nifty tools and packages it would list (starting with the GIMP and all its kindred and forks and symbiotes). The packages well cover here are just the legal and political hot potatoes, the stuff that threatens monopolies and worries lawyers.

MAD Project 1.7
MAD project implemented two protocols designed for reliable content delivery. more>>
MAD project implemented two protocols designed for reliable content delivery. File Delivery over Unidirectional Transport (FLUTE) is a protocol for the unidirectional delivery of files over the Internet, which is particularly suited to multicast networks.
FLUTE builds on Asyncronous Layered Coding (ALC), the base protocol designed for massively scalable multicast distribution. Asynchronous Layered Coding combines the Layered Coding Transport (LCT) building block, a multiple rate congestion control building block and the Forward Error Correction (FEC) building block to provide congestion controlled reliable asynchronous delivery of content to an unlimited number of concurrent receivers from a single sender.
MAD-ALCLIB library is an implementation of the ALC/LCT protocol, along with the RLC congestion control protocol and Compact No-Code, Simple XOR and Reed-Solomon FEC schemes. Session Description Protocol (SDP) can be used to describe FLUTE sessions. MAD-SDPLIB library is an implementation of "SDP Descriptors for FLUTE" Internet-Draft. MAD-FLUTELIB is an implementation of the FLUTE protocol, and it builds on MAD-ALCLIB and MAD-SDPLIB libraries. MAD-FLUTE is a multicast file transfer tool build on the above mentioned libraries.
Enhancements:
- This version includes file repair server codes and instructions.

Sawdog (Simple Active Watch-DOG) is a suite of scripts that informs the system operators of mission critical servers in the case of a failure.
A set of small executables (i.e. expect scripts) are executed, and if one executable fails, it sends an email or an SMS to the sysop. There are 3 states known to sawdog: alive, unknown, and dead. Only certain state transitions trigger a notification.
On a Web interface, the states of all hosts are visible. So far, there are scripts to check for DNS, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, ICMP, IMAP, MS SQL, MySQL, Notes, NTP, POP3, PostgreSQL, SMB, SMTP, SNMP, SSH, telnet, TWS, VNM, and Webmin.
