Early Macintosh Image LoadEr allows to boot linux-m68k from a floppy on a macintosh such as MacII or Quadra 610.
With it, you can create rescue disk, or remove the MacOS partition (needed by the legacy penguin booter) from your HD.

Under linux, the command to dump image to floppy is:
# dd if=emile-rescue-x.y.bin of=/dev/fd0 bs=512 conv=sync
then, you can eject floppy with:
# eject /dev/fd0
If you are using MacOS, use MakeDebianFloppy AppleScript (you must use a floppy image with a size of exactly 1474560 bytes).
Enhancements:

Computer Breaker project is a network testing tool for services vulnerabilities.

Computer Breaker is a network testing tool that allows networking administrators to test if a computer is vulnerable to malicious attacks.

Using the Nessus scanner, computer-breaker scans the remote host and automatically exploits its vulnerabilities.

Teacher Control Panel allows a teacher to monitor, lock, and operate student computers and broadcast the teachers screen to the students.
Teacher Control Panel can work with a mix of Windows and Linux workstations. The screens are captured using VNC, and the teachers screen is broadcast using multicast.

- Supervise the activity of the students (view student screens)
- Lock student screens
- Broadcast the teacher screen to students (all students or a subset) fullscreen or in a window (this feature uses multicast therefore can scale to many computer very well)

Rachota is a small application for those who work with computers on a daily basis and are curious how efficiently they use their time.

Rachota is basically a scheduler that measures how much time one spends on pre-defined tasks during the day. The data can be used later for evaluation or generation of reports, e.g. for managers.

Dmidecode project reports information about your systems hardware as described in your system BIOS according to the SMBIOS and DMI standard (see a sample output).
This information typically includes system manufacturer, model name, serial number, BIOS version, asset tag as well as a lot of other details of varying level of interest and reliability depending on the manufacturer.
This will often include usage status for the CPU sockets, expansion slots (e.g. AGP, PCI, ISA) and memory module slots, and the list of I/O ports (e.g. serial, parallel, USB).
Part of the dmidecode code can be found in the Linux kernel, where DMI data is used to enable or disable specific portions of code depending on the specific hardware. Thus, one use of dmidecode is for kernel developers to detect system "signatures" and add them to the kernel source code when needed.
Beware that DMI data have proven to be too unreliable to be blindly trusted. Dmidecode does not scan your hardware, it only reports what the BIOS told it to.
Three additional tools come with dmidecode:
- biosdecode prints all BIOS related information it can find (see a sample output);
- ownership retrieves the "ownership tag" that can be set on Compaq computers;
- vpddecode prints the "vital product data" information that can be found in almost all IBM computers (see a sample output).

Enhancements:
- SMBIOS 2.5 support was added.
- This includes new enumerated values for recent hardware, as well as CPU core and thread count reporting.
- Some HP-specific entries are now decoded.
- The support of Intel-based Macintosh and IA-64 machines was improved.

Computer Temperature Monitor is a little applet for the GNOME desktop that shows the temperature of your computer CPU and disks on screen. Computer Temperature Monitor also allows you to log temperatures to a file.
You can set alarms to notify you when a tempertature is reached. Several monitors can be added to the panel to monitor different sensors. It is designed to look like the CPU Frequency Gnome applet. This applet used to be called Laptop Temperature Monitor.
Enhancements:
- The way the temperature file is read has been changed to fix a bug in some modules (acpi, ibm_acpi, i8k, and omnibook).
- Support has been added for Apple G5 computers (windfarm sensors).
- Support has been added for dynamic log filenames using patterns.
- A bug that prevented the icon from appearing sometimes has been fixed.
- A GConf key has been added for showing debug information in the applet tooltip.
- A Simplified Chinese translation has been added.
- Support has been added to change the logging timeout.
- There are some bugfixes.
