LZO is a data compression library which is suitable for data de-/compression in real-time. This means it favours speed over compression ratio.
LZO is written in ANSI C. Both the source code and the compressed data format are designed to be portable across platforms.
Main features:
- Decompression is simple and *very* fast.
- Requires no memory for decompression.
- Compression is pretty fast.
- Requires 64 kB of memory for compression.
- Allows you to dial up extra compression at a speed cost in the compressor. The speed of the decompressor is not reduced.
- Includes compression levels for generating pre-compressed data which achieve a quite competitive compression ratio.
- There is also a compression level which needs only 8 kB for compression.
- Algorithm is thread safe.

Long Range ZIP is a compression program that can achieve very high compression ratios and speed when used with large files. It uses the combined compression algorithms of lzma for maximum compression, lzo for maximum speed, and the long range redundancy reduction of rzip.
It is designed to scale with increases with RAM size, improving compression further. A choice of either size or speed optimizations allows for either better compression than even lzma can provide, or better speed than gzip, but with bzip2 sized compression levels.
Enhancements:
- Blocks to be compressed by lzma are now scanned by lzo in advance to find incompressible data and bypass attempting to compress them.
- This speeds up substantially attempting to compress incompressible files, and should fix the "lzma getting stuck on an incompressible block" bug.
- Basic Darwin support was added.

compFUSEd is a simple compressed overlay fs that supports both READ and WRITE operations. more>>
Since there are none right now for Linux [well there still is ext2comp, but ext2 is getting a bit old and the patches are NOT compatible with ext3] I wrote this thing. Thanks to FUSE and using compFUSEd you can have a compressed FS on top of any fancy must have FS on Linux.
Simple? This fs is not suited for large files! Files are compressed as a whole. No clever strategy was used to split the files in chunks of fixed. Later maybe.
Overlay? Files are compressed an decompressed on the fly but the actual storage is done in the directory of an underlying fs. This underlying fs takes care of space allocation, fragmention, etc...
Main features:
- Transparant read and write compression (again, I know ;)
- Configuration file (very simple one)
- Can use ZLIB, LZO or BZIP2, set in config file. You can not change the compression once the files are created!
- User defined blacklist of file extensions that should not be compressed, set in config file. So that we do not try to compress jpeg or Xvid files. Common file types are included by default in the blacklist (see cf_file.c).
- Files smaller that 4096 bytes are not compressed. First because bzip2 has problems with that! And second because I _think_ that the underlying fs will allocate a block of 4096 bytes anyway to store the compressed data anyway (no?).
- Any cleverness? Not really, uncompressible files are not compressed. Unchanged files are not recompressed (whoaa!...:( ).
- Since version 0.04 (cf-200528614.tgz) threading works (after 12 October 2005).
Enhancements:
- A new "minimum size for compression" parameter has been added.
- Incorrectly marked uncompressable chunks have been fixed.
- The code to persist the filesystem info between mounts has been fixed.
- This release has graceful handling of compression lib failure.
- It has dynamically sized file mapping (internal mapping).

SIB (Simple IPX Bridge) is able to tunnel IPX and IP frames received by your Ethernet device via UDP over the Internet. It is able to put the interface it listens on to promiscous mode, so all frames (not only broadcasts, and frames for the tunneling server) can be received.
Actually every 802.3 frame can be tunneled, but SIB only tunnels IPX frames per default (this can be changed via command line). SIB also filters SMB over IPX, to reduce network traffic (this can be disabled too).
Additionally SIB takes care which frames belong to local MAC addresses and sends only broadcasts and frame to non-local MACs to the remote host.
A non-plus-ultra is, that SIB can compress every frame it tunnels via LZO, but you must have LZO library installed.
You may ask yourself: "Why should I need this?" Well, there are lot of answers, but the main reason is: FOR GAMES. Even with KALI for Windows ($14.99) and KALI cracked 1.2 ($0 - but bugs bugs bugs) there is no real WHOLE NETWORK to WHOLE NETWORK connection program which can tunnel IPX, filter SMB, compress it, and works with 2.4.0. And EVERY new game (for Windows) uses IPX for "network" (or should I say Internet ;-) games. (RA2, Q3, HL...)

The point of TinyCrypt is to both compress and encrypt your file VERY quickly... faster than your computer can read and write the file. Its compression is based on the super-fast LZO compression library.
TinyCrypt is meant to be simple, fast, and secure. By secure, we mean secure enough for typical commercial use, not TOP SECRET documents. The core encryption file is only 59 lines of code. The core function within this file is 14 lines, including comment header. Feel free to read through it to get familiar with it. Its very simple, and very fast. The SimpleCrypt utility (included with TinyCrypt) uses just this encryption code to protect data.
TinyCrypt attempts to insure high security, using the ultra-fast SimpleCrypt hashing algorithm plus extra steps: First, it compresses the data using the fast LZO compression library. Then, it diffuses the data and obfuscates it using a 256-byte random key and the SimpleCrypt algorithm.
The random key is then prepended to the obfuscated data for later use in decrypting. Finally the obfuscated data is re-encrypted using the users key and the SimpleCrypt algorithm. This approach deflects know-plaintext attacks, reduces the encrypted file size, and is still blazing fast.
