Crossfire+ 2.0

Crossfire+ 2.0

Crossfire+ server is located in southern germany and has a fast connection. more>>
Its main purpose, besides being fun to play, is to demo the specific versions of the server, archetypes and maps used by crossfire+. All files can be freely downloaded via CVS on the the crossfire+ project page.
It is especially suited for beginners who do not want to experience a very sharp and frustrating learning curve and party players who want to play together more easily.
Main features:
- Death is not permanent.
- Death causes no stats depletion and little experience points loss.
- Friendly fire causes no damage.
- Pet monsters and summoned creatures will not stand in the way of other party members, making it bearable to play with summoning skills in a party.
- The item power setting is "2".
- The crossfire maps can be viewed interactively at cfmaps.schmorp.de.
- We import your character file from other crossfire servers, up to some level, so you can use your character you played with at home, for example. Send your character files to crossfire@schmorp.de. Please dont send artifically improved characters.
- Player-killing is, as usual, not tolerated.
- If you want to try out a map on a public server, feel free to send it in.
- Map and graphics artists are working on improved graphics and new maps and quests.
- Due to the filthy ;) code quality, the server restarts automatically after a crash (within one minute).
- Emergency saves are disabled.
- You can reach the admins via IRC: server irc.schmorp.de (alternatively irc.plan9.de), channel #schmorp, user(s) schmorp or elmex.
- You can reach the admins via E-Mail: crossfire@schmorp.de.
- We are sometimes running the release, sometimes a CVS (not latest CVS) snapshot with some patches applied. If you encounter problems fixed in a newer snapshot feel free to report it.
- Player files and other variable data is backed up nightly to two different locations.
How to Connect
To connect to the server using e.g. cfclient or gcfclient, use this command:
cfclient -server crossfire.schmorp.de
or maybe...
cfclient -server crossfire.schmorp.de -mapsize 19x19 -font 9x15bold -cache
or you could use gcfclient or any other crossfire client.
If you use Debian GNU/Linux, you can find the clients in the crossfire-server-x11 and crossfire-server-gtk packages.
Enhancements:
- Large parts of the server have been rewritten.
- Map loading and saving and most I/O is done asynchronously, eliminating I/O-based lag.
- The server now regularly writes maps and players, so data loss on crash is minimized.
- Over 40 Perl extensions are available, such as a IRC gateway, transports, playershop, and minesweeper.
- The map system is now completely pluggable (for example, the world map is generated on the fly from an overlay).
- The file formats have been cleaned up and improved and use a faster parser now.
- A persistent database is available for data storage.

sshproxy 0.5.0

sshproxy 0.5.0

sshproxy is a pure Python implementation of an SSH proxy. more>>
sshproxy is a pure Python implementation of an SSH proxy.
sshproxy allows users to connect to remote sites without having to remember the password or key of the remote sites.
How do I use it ?
Here is an overview of a normal ssh session:
me@myhost $ ssh -tp 2242 me@proxy remote-site
root@remote-site #
... doing some administration commands ...
root@remote-site # exit
me@myhost $
Here is the same with the pssh shell wrapper:
me@myhost $ pssh remote-site
root@remote-site #
... doing some administration commands ...
root@remote-site # exit
me@myhost $
You can also execute remote commands:
me@myhost $ pssh remote-site uname -a
nova.wallix.com
me@myhost $
Here is an example of an scp transfert:
me@myhost $ scp /etc/issue me@proxy:root@remote-site:/etc/issue.new
me@myhost $
And the same with the pscp shell wrapper:
me@myhost $ pscp /etc/issue remote-site:/etc/issue.new
me@myhost $
Enhancements:
- Since the 0.4 branch, the database backend has been split in three different and independent backends: client, ACL, and site.
- Authorization policies are now easier to define, and limited only by your imagination.
- A simple and powerful ACL engine has been put into the heart of sshproxy.
- The plugin architecture allows virtually any extension or modification of sshproxy.

pytags Beta

pytags Beta

pytags is a Python library capable of reading and writing MP3, FLAC and OGG file tags. more>>
pytags is a Python library capable of reading and writing MP3, FLAC and OGG file tags.

Being tired of having to use a different API calls for the main 3 media files in my library I created this library class. It utilizes pyid3lib, python-vorbis and python-flac as backends. None are required, however, it is up the program implementing the class to decide which backends are needed. Note this library has not been widely tested yet. It is just being subject to release early and release often. That being said I have not suffered any corruption during any part of the development besides perhaps the loss of tag data.

Given that the Vorbis and FLAC tags are wildly different from ID3 some liberties have been taken on my part. While ID3 is limited to one field of each data Vorbis/FLAC can have as many as you want. This library handles that by only returning the first match on a get query. (Perhaps in the future they will all be returned) On a set query the new item will just be added on to the others. If a set then get occurs the last one set will be returned. Feel free to contact me tkorody you.know.what.to.do socal.rr.com with any questions or comments you may have.

Example of the API:

import pytags, os

print pytags.tags.get_Supported_Formats()
try:
media_file = pytags.tags(a_cool_song.flac)
except FileNotSupported:
print This file doesnt seem to be supported
os.exit(-1)

# Note the str() is used because None type object can get returned!
print Artist is + str(media_file.get_Artist())
print Album is + str(media_file.get_Album())
print Title is + str(media_file.get_Title())
print Track Total is + str(media_file.get_TrackTotal())
print Track Number is + str(media_file.get_TrackNumber())
print Genre is + str(media_file.get_Genre())
print Disc Number is + str(media_file.get_DiscNumber())
print Comment is + str(media_file.get_Comment())
print Date is + str(media_file.get_Date())

print Now Settings Tags!

text=Boring

media_file.set_Artist(text)
media_file.set_Genre(text)
media_file.set_Album(text)
media_file.set_Title(text)
media_file.set_TrackTotal(9)
media_file.set_TrackNumber(3)
media_file.set_DiscNumber(1)
media_file.set_Comment(text)

FDMS-3 Ripper

FDMS-3 Ripper

FDMS-3 Ripper is a Perl program for extracting the tracks from the FDMS-3 filesystem. more>>
FDMS-3 Ripper is a Perl program for extracting the tracks from the FDMS-3 filesystem. I recently bought a Fostex FD-8 multitrack hard disk recorder for recording music. It works great, but I was disappointed to discover that, although it uses a standard external SCSI hard disk, there was no way to "rip" the recorded tracks from the hard drive to my PC over the SCSI port. The alternatives were to use the analog-out to re-record each track using my soundcard (resulting in loss of quality and loss of synch between tracks), or buying a $500 ADAT card for my PC.

I decided that I would try to figure out a way to rip the music directly over the SCSI port. The FD-8 uses a proprietary Fostex filesystem, FDMS-3. I decided to hook it up to my PC and probed the drive. I was able to figure out the basic layout of the filesystem pretty quickly. Note: this is designed to hard disks formatted in the FDMS-3 "Mastering" mode, which stores the audio data in uncompressed format.

In order to use the program, you will need to take the hard disk that has the FDMS-3 filesystem on it and hook it up to your PC (mine is a SCSI drive -- dont know if this will work with one of the internal IDE drives you can hook up to the FD-8). Make sure that Linux can see the drive (dont try to mount it, though!). You might want to have a look at SCSI-2.4-HOWTO to get the drive recognized. My external hard disk is located at "/dev/sda", but yours could end up elsewhere.

Next, you need to make sure you have the following on your system: perl, sox and fileutils (for the "dd" utility). Security Warning Unfortunately, this program presents significant security issues, so be careful with it. The script needs to be able to access the hard disk directly, so you can either run it as root (not safe), or change the permissons for the hard disk device (in my case, "/dev/sda"). Run the program with "./fdms3rip /dev/sda" (substituting the actual location of your hard disk).

This will list all of the programs present on the hard disk. Then, run it again with the number of the program you want to fetch off the hard disk: "./fdms3rip /dev/sda 5" to get all of the recorded tracks for program number 5. After waiting a bit, you should now have a bunch of WAV files on your Linux machine. Warning This program will create and erase files with the names "dir" and "header" in the directory it is run from. It would be best to run this program from a clean directory, just to make sure there are no problems.

tbibtools 0.4

tbibtools 0.4

tbibtools project provides a simple regexp-based bibtex parser. more>>
tbibtools project provides a simple regexp-based bibtex parser. Please be aware that this script makes a few assumptions on how a bib file should look like and that it may fail on files formatted in unusual ways.
Failure may lead to loss of bib entries and malformed or incomplete output. Comments and other text will be stripped when reformatting entries. Any feature of bibtex I dont know and/or dont use myself is most likely not supported by this script/class.
Please take care when using this script. Make backups and check the output, especially when using the -f command-line option. Dont blame me if you lose information or end up with corrupted bib files.
Enhancements:
- sortCrossref puts cross-referenced entries to the back.
- A new format, (un)selectCrossref, allows you to view only entries that are (not) cross-referenced.
- The syntax of the query command has changed: query FIELD1 => RX1, FIELD2 => RX2, etc.
- Duplicate entries and certain conflicting fields are merged.
- A problem with --ls has been fixed.
