Ubuntu LiveCD Creator proposes a set of tools and graphical user interface to create and maintain custom Ubuntu LiveCDs.
LiveCD tools should provide a robust enough environment for the Ubuntu developers to generate the official CDs from them. Required functionality includes:
- Creating LiveCDs based on templates, such as bare minimum installing ubuntu-minimal
- Selects repositories
- Selects default packages
- Adjusting the packages on the LiveCD by adding or removing through a Synaptic-like interface
- Adding files directly to the LiveCD just before finalizing
- Modifying the default X11 environment
- Execute a GNOME, KDE, or XFCE log-in in Xnest
- Save the home directory as the /etc/skel
- Saving and updating LiveCD templates
- Save the package list, /etc/skel, and additional files
- Update by adjusting repositories and performing upgrades or dist-upgrades
- Adding the Ubiquity installer

X-Evian LiveCD 2.0-prebeta
X-Evian is a complete Debian GNU/Linux operating system compilation that comes with 300Mb of copyleft material. more>>
X-evian is a Live-CD, a complete operating system which installs automatically from the CD-Rom in RAM memory by means of a process of automatic hardware detection.
This makes it possible to "parasite" a PC without leaving any trace?without touching the hard disk and without interfering with the operating system or the files already installed on the PC. X-evian also includes a utility for installing the contents of the CD automatically onto the hard disk (without having to erase Windows).
Debian GNU/Linux is much more than an operating system: it is an entire system of program distribution, installation and management built around the Linux kernel (the core of the operating system). Debian GNU/Linux consists of about 10,000 different programs, nearly all of which are free software, bundled and classified for integrated operation.
X-evian is a selection and compilation which has been carefully chosen and configured for activist users, for liberated cultural, technological and social production. But Debian is much more than "a complete operating system and an infinite number of programs".
Debian is the largest independent free software community on the Net and one of the most firmly established and stable techno-political projects in cyberspace. X-evian is an easy preconfigured way of introducing the user to the best of the resources of this Debian.
The power of digital recombination, reproduction and transmission has enabled the cognitariat (the workers of the immaterial production networks) to organise its own production transversally. But this transverse self-organisation would not have been possible without a format that would protect the collective work.
This is copyleft. "Copyleft uses copyright law, but flips it over to serve the opposite of its usual purpose: instead of a means of privatizing software, it becomes a means of keeping software free. The central idea of copyleft is that we give everyone permission to run the program, copy the program, modify the program, and distribute modified versions?but not permission to add restrictions of their own.? Stallman, R. (http://www.gnu.org/gnu/thegnuproject.html).
Copyleft hacks into the legal system of copyright to champion the freedom of knowledges and techniques. X-evian is the product of the recombination, copying and transformation of these knowledges. X-evian can therefore be freely copied, distributed, modified, recombined and used (provided any modification is also free).
But its not only the software that can be copylefted: the design, images, texts, technical documents, music and videos included in X-evian are also free. X-evian therefore forms part of the cycles of immaterial production, liberated from the info-capitalist restriction on the circulation of knowledges and techniques, and its devices of production and consumption (factories, companies, shopping centres, etc.).
Liberated immaterial production does not operate along the lines of the development-production-sale-consumption sequence, but rather follows interactive cycles of development-use-development, looped in backfed hypercycles of projects, groups and individuals (X-evian, metabolik, hacklabs, sindominio, Debian, Linux, etc...).
X-evian is therefore also a community of development and experimentation from free software towards a different technological, cultural and social model, in which production and use merge in cooperative horizontal communities working outside market interfaces, innovation restricted by patents and commercial interests and the consumerist use of technology.
This edition of X-evian seeks to explicitly support copyleft philosophy, motivations and practices, and therefore includes an organised selection of copyleft materials (chats, texts, manuals, etc.).

Kid-Safe LiveCD 0.21 Beta
Kid-Safe LiveCD is the perfect way for young children to learn about computers. more>>
Kid-Safe LiveCD is the perfect way for young children to learn about computers.
First, since the entire system runs off of a read-only CD-ROM, parents can let their childeren play on the computer without having to worry about their primary desktop being altered or damaged.
Also, this CD has a content filtering system installed to keep your kids safe on the internet. The filters are setup for a target audience of pre-school and elementary school children. Even so, you should still monitor your child while on the internet.
This system also has lots of games and educational software installed. And even though theyre geared toward children, I guarantee youll enjoy playing with this system as well!
This CD has been built entirely from free software! Most software on this disk is freely available, open source software. A few are not open source, but are freely distributable.
This CD is still in its development stages, so keep an eye out for new versions.
Enhancements:
- Fixed bug in installer
- Installed latest updates from repository
- LBreakout2 is in the penalty box for bad language (Note: LBreakout will be back next version, without the bad language)

BitWise Routing Server for Linux 1.7
allows you to accept BitWise connections to multiple computers behind a router. more>> The BitWise Routing Server allows you to accept BitWise connections to multiple computers behind a router. Typically, using a router, you would set up port forwarding on BitWises client port (4137), and specify a single destination IP. This is fine until multiple users behind a router all need to accept incoming connections.
As shown by the picture at right, the Routing Server allows individual users to register themselves with the Routing Server, and then the Routing Server accepts all incoming connections and directs those connections to the appropriate user.
The Routing Server requires that your physical router support port forwarding with a way to specify different external and internal ports (this is sometimes labeled "UPnP" by many common home routers).<<less

Diet-Router 0.3
Diet-Router provides a singe floppy DSL router. more>>
Diet-Router provides a singe floppy DSL router.
Diet-Router is a Linux router that is small enough to fit on a single floppy disk. It focuses more on security than on functionality.
Diet-Router is a Linux router built with the dietlibc. It is small enough to fit on a single floppy disk. You may think that there are several other Linux routers, which come with more features and you are right. I build this router package more with the view on security than of functionality. So this project differs a lot from most other router or mini-Linux projects.
Main features:
- I use a 2.4.x kernel to have the great features of net-filter.
- I patch some net-filter extensions to have even more filter functions.
- I harden the kernel with the grsecurity kernel patch.
- Kernel modules are disabled.
- By default root login is disabled - even on the console.
How does it work:
First of all, all programs are linked statically. This is the main idea of this system. No libraries are needed. It uses busybox and tinylogin, two typical multi-call-binaries for small systems. The iptables, iptables-restore and iptables-save commands have been made a multi-call binary by me. The pppd and pppoe programs have only been patched to compile with the dietlibc. The minit and od_syslog are really small programs, from people with much more knowledge of programming than me. So, special thanks to Felix von Leitner, Olaf Drefs and all the dietlibc/libowfat programmers.
Enhancements:
- Updated dietlibc, libowfat, dropbear, ppp, kernel and grsecurity to recent
- versions.
- Added new packages dhcp server (udhcpd) and vi (e3).
- The build system has been completely rewritten and documented.
- It supports multiple downloads, a simple interface for package building/setup and target file descriptions including file owner and permissions.
- Some simple checks for build requirements are implementet.
- The setup is now able to configure mutiple network interfaces and also mproxy, udhcpd and dnscache can be configured for eachnetwork interface.
- All packages have at least two internet sources.
- Support for disc based target systems has been added.
