Hierarchical Grid Site Managment is a front-end to the database that keeps information about the grid sites (clusters), their admins, email and phone contacts, other contact people, site nodes and resources, downtimes etc.
These sites are organized by country and countries are organized by regions. The admins of each site can also update the information about the site.
To summarize the design, the applications supports only one GOC (Grid Operation Center), assuming that it is used for only one grid. It can have several ROCs (Regional Operation Centers), each ROC can have several countries, and each country can have several sites.
Each ROC, country and site can have one (or more) admins, which are able to modify the data of the structure (record) which they admin (ROC, country or site), and to manage substructures as well.
Managing substructures means that they can also validate/appoint the admins of the substructures, e.g. a country admin can validate/appoint the site admins. The admins are recognized automatically by their certificate (without the need to use passwords).
For each structure (ROC, country, site), contact info about it are stored, including email and phone. For the sites, general info about it are stored, contact info, info about its resources and capacities, site contacts, site downtimes, and info about its nodes. For more details see the DB design: hgsm_design.sql.
In the pages where a user has edit rights (in the node where he is admin and in all the subnodes), an Edit button is displayed. Clicking in this button, the page will be displayed in the edit mode, where the fields of information can be modified, the rows of the lists can be edited or deleted, new rows can be added in the lists, etc. The id and the admins of a node can be modified only by an admin of the parent node.
Main features:
- Has a database with information about a hierarchical structure (GOC-->ROCs-->Countries-->Sites-->Nodes).
- This information is published to the www by a web application.
- Each node of the tree has also one or more admins, which can modify the data of the node which they admin, and also the data of the subnodes.
- The admins of a node can appoint (set/modify/delete) the admins of the subnodes and leave up to them the modification/update of the subnode information (to make their job easier and for decentralization).
- Authentication (recognizing that somebody is admin of a node and has the rights to modify it) is done automatically by the application, using personal certificates, which are issued and verified by a certain certification authority. This means that everybody that is an admin, must have a valid certificate installed in his browser.
- The application also supports i18n and l10n (is multilingual, can be translated into several languages).
Enhancements:
- This release includes full internationalization and localization support for Albanian and Croatian.
- It also contains bdii.php?type1+type2+type3 and ldap2mysql.py the scripts.
- Some small improvements and bugfixes were made.

Matrix Public Net spreads short voice messages through a web of trust; credibility decays until a threshold where the message is dropped.

Matrix Public Net comes with a program for recording and sending messages as well as plugins for XMMS and WinAmp that play received messages.

Extending the Blogosphere

This is a proposal for the extension of the Blogosphere, the network of Weblogs.
Individual Blogs are connected by their users implicitly: a community emerges, because users regularly read and comment on others entries. By making this connexions explicit, a web of trust is created which functions like a reputation mechanism.

The resulting system leverages the advantages of social networks for the distribution of news. It can be implemented as a decentralised system, with a simple extension to the Blogosphere.

The system is explained in a paper and in the presentation at the Mobile Entertainment conference in Manchester.

The RSS MPN-Interest module is the first part of this extension.

PHP Data Grid Class can be used to display MySQL query results in HTML tables. PHP Data Grid Class executes a given SQL SELECT query and generates an HTML table defined by a template to display the query results.
The results table also shows links to navigate between query result pages. The number of result rows to display per page is configurable. The results can be sorted by columns that the user may choose by clicking on column links. The list of sortable columns may be restricted.
Main features:

Enhancements:
- Arrays can now be passed to the grid for displaying.
- Setting the the default sort column now works correctly.
- The layout of check all/uncheck all/invert buttons can now also be set from the template.
- The form action can now be set when instantiating the data grid and the template can now be set by using the newly added method, "setTemplate()".
- The language can now be set with the "setLanguage()" method.
- Romanian, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese translations were added.

CryptNET Password Candidate Generator is a password generator. It generates a list of password candidates for the user to choose from by mapping operating system sources of pseudorandomness into printable character arrays using a mod operation.
It is capable of generating passwords composed of printable characters, alpha numeric characters, alphabetic characters, or numeric only characters.
By default, passgen generates 12 character passwords.
With current grid and cluster computing technology, that is considered the minimum number of characters a password needs in order to be safe from a brute force or dictionay attack.
Enhancements:
- Support for a system wide configuration file is now available, allowing administrators to set defaults that match their local password selection security policies.
- Some minor bug fixes have been made, and some help text formatting improvements have been applied.
- Finally, autotools support has been improved in order to simplify the installation process.

MOSIX is a management system that allows a Linux cluster or a Grid to perform like a single computer with multiple processors. MOSIX Grid and Cluster Management is particularly suitable to run intensive computing and applications with moderate amounts of I/O.
In a MOSIX based system there is no need to modify or to link applications with any library, or even to assign processes to different nodes - it is all done automatically, just fork and forget, like in an SMP.
MOSIX supports dynamic configurations, ranging from partitioning of a cluster among several users to an organizational grid with several clusters.
