Log Mine 0.03
Log Mine is a tool that produces reports on usage patterns on your Web site. more>>
Log Mine is a tool that produces reports on usage patterns on your Web site.
Web server log files are not just hit counters. They contain valuable information about the usage patterns of your website. Unforunately many web log analysis tools lay emphasis on telling you how many hits your site had or how many pages were seen and how many bytes were transferred.
A more usefull statistic would be which percentage of users came to your site went to a product information page, and which percentage of those users hit the checkout button, and which percentage actually completed their order. The trouble is the very nature of the web makes it nearly impossible to get accurate figures for such statistics.
However over periods of time, the errors present average out and it is possible to get a good indication of these ratios by properly mining the log file. That brings us back to square one, how do we get this information with traditional log analysers?
Traditional log analysers will produce weekly, monthly or daily charts for the usage of your site, but rarely do they allow you to create such charts for individual pages or referrrs - something very usefull if you run advertising campaigns on other sites.
Enter Log Mine. This new web log analyser / Mining tool will allow you to create just about any kind of report from the contents of your log file. Log Mine is not concerned about speed and it will be very greedy when it comes to taking up space on your hard disk/database but it will let you change your reporting without having to process gigabytes of log files each time.
Enhancements:
- Importing of Web server log files into the database was simplified.
- Multiple log files can now be processed at once.
- A bug in the monthly report was fixed.

Yahoo! Finance Currency Converter 0.4
Yahoo! Finance Currency Converter is a greasemonkey script that will automatically convert every foreign currency. more>>
After the converter I developed ages ago for Dashboard, I needed something to help me grasp quickly the prices in foreign currencies displayed on the web site I visited.
I therefore started to develop my first greasemonkey script to have Firefox do that automatically.
Yahoo! Finance Currency Converter is not the first one around, I particularly like that one, but for the exercise, I wanted to develop mine using Yahoo! Finance exchange rates.

The ACE ORB from the doc group 1.5.8
TAO is a standards-compliant, real-time implementation of CORBA that provides. more>>
TAO project is a standards-compliant, real-time implementation of CORBA that provides efficient, predictable, and scalable quality of service (QoS) end-to-end.
Unlike conventional implementations of CORBA, which are inefficient, unpredictable, non-scalable, and often non-portable, TAO applies the best software practices and patterns to automate the delivery of high-performance and real-time QoS to distributed applications.
Over the past decade, my research group has worked with many collaborators on large-scale distributed application R&D projects in diverse domains, including command and control systems, telecom, datacom, medical engineering, distributed interactive simulations, and financial services. Regardless of the domain and application requirements, weve found that software developers wrestle with the same core infrastructure challenges. Key challenges focus on OS platform portability, connection management and service initialization, event demultiplexing and event handler dispatching, multi-threading and synchronization, fault detection and fault tolerance, and various quality-of-service (QoS) issues, such as controlling latency, throughput, and jitter end-to-end.
Unfortunately, its very costly, time consuming, and error-prone for researchers and developers companies to independently rediscover and reinvent ad hoc solutions to these core distributed application software development challenges. Fortunately, we have identified a relatively concise set of patterns and framework components that can be applied systematically to eliminate many tedious, error-prone, and non-portable aspects of developing and maintaining distributed applications.
A decade of intense R&D on these topics has yielded ACE, which is an object-oriented framework that implements many core patterns for concurrent communication software. We have applied the patterns and components in the ACE framework to develop The ACE ORB (TAO), which is our standards-based, CORBA middleware framework that allows clients to invoke operations on distributed objects without concern for object location, programming language, OS platform, communication protocols and interconnects, and hardware. TAO is designed using the best software practices and patterns that we have discovered in our work on ACE in order to automate the delivery of high-performance and real-time QoS to distributed applications.

If you sometimes have to launch several asynchronous calls in parrallel and want to call one call-back function when all these calls are finished, this module may be for you.
Async::Group is a class which enables you to call several asynchronous routines. Each routine may have their own callback. When all the routine are over (i.e. all their callback were called), Async::Group will call the global callback given by the user.
Note that one Async::Group objects must be created for each group of parrallel calls. This object may be destroyed (or will vanish itself) once the global callback is called.
Note also that Async::Group does not perform any fork or other system calls. It just run the passed subroutines and keep count of the call-back functions called by the aforementionned subroutines. When all these subs are finished, it calls another call-back (passed by the user) to perform whatever function required by the user.
Using fork or threads or whatever is left to the user.

The Data Mine 1.0
The Data Mine is a search engine designed to give users an unusually powerful interface. more>>
The Data Mine is a search engine designed to give users an unusually powerful interface. It is designed around human-computer intelligent interaction (making the computer a tool so humans can use their intelligence).
The project divides the screen into two halves: one lets you find all the instances of your querys keywords, and the other lets you look through a highlighted version of the results you choose.
Installation:
Basics
To install, run "./install" and answer the questions provided. This will run a Unix-flavor install-style script and should create a working, out-of-the-box installation when supplied appropriate values.
See USAGE below if are curions about how to use the Data Mine.
Setup and Customization
The Configure link at the bottom of the Data Mine search page provides a menu you can use to customize the data mine.
The main engine is intended for anyone to be able to use; the setup pages are written for techies. If you arent sure what a regular expression is, for instance, ask someone whos more technical.
Security
The present release of the Data Mine has not been closely scrutinized for security, and should be treated as such by security-conscious administrators. If you discover a vulnerability, please contact the author.
You are strongly encouraged to change the password in /usr/share/datamine/password.
The default installation sets /usr/share/datamine and contents to a relatively permissive mode. Administrators are encouraged to set directory and contents to mode 700, owned by the effective user ID that CGI scripts will be running under. This is usually apache or nobody.
Usage:
The Data Mine is designed to be run as a straightforward web application, with much administrative activity performed on-web.
Once it is set up via the Configure link, just explore.
http://[your hostname]/cgi-bin/datamine
(That is the location provided by RPM installation and the default for the provided installer. The provided installer allows you to specify another location; if you specified another location, substitute that for "/cgi-bin/furball".)
