Prima::tutorial 1.20
Prima::tutorial is an introductory tutorial. more>>
Prima::tutorial is an introductory tutorial.
Programming graphic interfaces is often considered somewhat boring, and not without a cause. It is a small pride in knowing that your buttons and scrollbars work exactly as millions of others buttons and scrollbars do, so whichever GUI toolkit is chosen, it is usually regarded as a tool of small importance, and the less obtrusive, the better.
Given that, and trying to live up to the famous Perl making easy things easy and hard things possible mantra, this manual page is an introductory tutorial meant to show how to write easy things easy. The hard things are explained in the other Prima manual pages ( see Prima ).

AFU Knoppix 3.7
The AFU Knoppix CD contains software for the operating modes of PSK31, RTTY, SSTV, FAX, APRS and packet radio. more>>
The AFU Knoppix CD contains software for the operating modes of PSK31, RTTY, SSTV, FAX, APRS and packet radio. Additional applications for Sat tracking, logging, locator referencing and antenna computation are also included.
The idea for this CD came in April 2003 after a lecture by Klaus Knopper during the Ulmer Linux Expo.
The CD is targeted for radio enthusiasts, the Linux operating system and the applications on this CD are structured so that they can run from the CD without effecting the installed existing system software. *
Surely Linux for most radio amateurs may be an unfamiliar operating system. Most computer users however have no problems with the use of the programs or the KDE Desktops as it configures easy via the KDE menu - > KNOPPIX.

KNOPPIX-NSM 1.2
knoppix-nsm is dedicated to providing a framework for individuals wanting to learn about Network Security Monitoring. more>>
KNOPPIX-NSM is dedicated to providing a framework for individuals wanting to learn about Network Security Monitoring.
We have tryed to do most of the hard work to help get the beginner/newbie up and running fast so they spend more time learning about NSM, leaving the details as a later exercise once familiar with the concepts.
KNOPPIX-NSM is based on the ever popular Knoppix, which means that you can test all the tools in a live session running on the cd without installing to harddrive. KNOPPIX-NSM has the added bonus of be able to install to harddisk so you can deploy a NSM framework into your production network and use it for realtime monitoring.
Some of the benefits include:
Rapid sensor deployment
You can boot you sensors from the live CD, store all data to a local HD partion and have them logging back to a central server.
Complete out of channel Intrusion Detection and Analysis center
With KNOPPIX-NSM you can deploy a complete NSM network to monitor your existing network infrastructure. KNOPPIX-NSM comes pre-configured for deployment of multiple sensors and databases, all you need to do is create the sensor accounts in the database and change some passwords.
Secure
KNOPPIX-NSM has been built with security in mind. All remote communications are over ssl tunnels so that you do not have to be concerned about eaves droppers if you decide to run KNOPPIX-NSM in your main network channels. Another feature is the use of iptables to ensure that only allowed hosts can connect and only necessary services are visible to the network.
Easy console deployment
Need another console, just boot from the cd (setting the host and ip at boot time) and you are up and running straight away.
The intent of KNOPPIX-NSM is to provide a distrubtion with accompanying documentation on the tools that we have selected and how they are put together in the NSM framework.
Main features:
- all remote management over ssl/ssh,
- all tools installed, patched and ready to run,
- automated scripts for easy installation/modification,
- support for bonded network interfaces,
- based on knoppix Live CD,
- debian based when installed to harddrive,
- ease of maintenance through apt-get,

MiniKnoppix 2.0
MiniKnoppix is a all-in-one sysadmin rescue CD. more>>
MiniKnoppix is a all-in-one sysadmin rescue CD. MiniKnoppix is a Linux Live CD based on Knoppix.
Basically it is a complete and totally functional GNU/Linux operating system that boots and works from the CDROM. This way theres no need to install it on the hard drive.
Knoppix is (possibly) the best Linux Live CD nowadays. The original version fits in a 74 minutes (650MB) CDROM and carries more than 900 software packages ranging from office applications, development tools, multimedia players, games, different desktop environments and almost anything you can think of.
MiniKnoppix is born out of the necessity (some of us have) to carry a GNU/Linux operating system everywhere. Knoppix fits in a standard CDROM that you can carry in a rucksack, a suitcase, in your car,... But it is not so wearable for the daily use. MiniKnoppix takes up 200MB and can be toasted in a 8 cm. CDROM. So you can carry it in your wallet, which is its goal.
MiniKnoppix is JUST Knoppix WITHOUT a HUGE amount of software. To sum up, MiniKnoppix does not have games, development tools/libs, most of the multimedia players, office tools,... MiniKnoppix has only one graphical environment (KDE), its browser (konqueror), mail, web and news text based clients (mutt, slrn, links) and lots of tools for system administration (backup/restore, filesystem check/creation, security, network testing, and more!).

PAR::Tutorial 0.941
PAR::Tutorial is a cross-platform Packaging and Deployment with PAR. more>>
PAR::Tutorial is a cross-platform Packaging and Deployment with PAR.
SYNOPSIS
This is a tutorial on PAR, first appeared at the 7th Perl Conference. The HTML version of this tutorial is available online as http://aut.dyndns.org/par-tutorial/.
On Deploying Perl Applications
% sshnuke.pl 10.2.2.2 -rootpw="Z1ON0101"
Perl v5.6.1 required--this is only v5.6.0, stopped at sshnuke.pl line 1.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at sshnuke.pl line 1.
Q: "Help! I cant run your program!"
A1: Install Perl & perl -MCPAN -einstall(...)
How do we know which modules are needed?
New versions of CPAN modules may break sshnuke.pl
A2: Install Perl & tar zxf my_perllib.tgz
Possibly overwriting existing modules; not cross-platform at all
A3: Use the executable generated by perlcc sshnuke.pl
Impossible to debug; perlcc usually does not work anyway

Knorpora 1.0
Knorpora is a modified version of the Knoppix 3.3 Live CD for students of corpus-based computational linguistics. more>>
Knorpora is a modified version of the Knoppix 3.3 Live CD for students of corpus-based computational linguistics.
Like Knoppix, the Knorpora CD allows you to run a fully operational Debian/Linux operating system from the CD-ROM drive, without installing anything on the computer.
The Knorpora edition of Knoppix contains programs and data files that should be of interest to computational linguistics students (WordNet, the Natural Language Toolkit, taggers, etc.)
When you launch Knorpora on your computer, you can immediately start learning how to use a UNIX-like operating system while at the same time experimenting with the kind of UNIX-command-line-based NLP tools that make UNIX the ideal operating system for NLP work.
Even if you already work with UNIX, Knorpora may give you the chance to try some interesting software before you install it.
I tested Knorpora only superficially, and there will definitely be all kinds of problems.
If you experience problems with Knorpora, you can contact me (baroni AT sslmit unibo it), and I will try to help.
However, if you have problems with a specific tool, you are probably better off contacting the authors of the tool, or posting to the relevant list, and if you have general problems with the CD or the operating system, you are probably better off posting to a list where Knoppix and Linux issues are discussed.
I would like to hear from you about your Knorpora experience, suggestions for future releases, etc.
I optimistically named this release Knorpora 1.0, but I am not going to be able to release up-to-date versions on a regular basis.

Gantry::Docs::Tutorial 3.40
Gantry::Docs::Tutorial is a Perl module for The Gantry Tutorial. more>>
Gantry::Docs::Tutorial is a Perl module for The Gantry Tutorial.
Gantry is a mature web framework, released in late 2005 onto an unsuspecting world. For more information on the framework, its features and history, see Gantry::Docs::About.
Here we will explore the basic workings of Gantry by constructing a very simple application. Dont let the simplicity of this example fool you -- this framework has extreme flexibility in delivering applications with web and scripted components. The example in this document is only to get you started.
This document begins by describing a simple one-table management application. It walks through the process of building the application. Then, it shows a tool -- called Bigtop -- which can be used to build the application from a relatively small configuration file. Finally, it shows how to add another table and regenerate the app via Bigtop.
