EasyTAG is an utility for viewing and editing tags for MP3, MP2, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, MusePack and Monkeys Audio files. EasyTAG is simple and nice GTK+ interface makes tagging easier under GNU/Linux.
The program exists for the both versions of the GTK library 1.2 and 2.4.
The GTK 1.2 version wouldnt change a lot (may be some bugs fixes), as all new developments will be concentrated on the new GTK 2.4 version.

- View, edit, write tags of MP3, MP2 files (ID3 tag with pictures), FLAC files (FLAC Vorbis tag), Ogg Vorbis files (Ogg Vorbis tag), and MusePack, Monkeys Audio files (APE tag),

Heilan is a cross-platform OpenGL X3D browser written in C++ and designed for audio work. Specifically, it forms the environment within which I am developing an audiovisual instrument for my PhD. As such, it has a number of features not commonly found in X3D browsers:
Low latency audio courtesy of PortAudio (ASIO, DirectX, MME on Windows; Jack, ALSA, OSS on Linux; CoreAudio on OSX).
A 1st order B-format Ambisonic audio engine, allowing for full 3d sound, capable of accommodating virtually any speaker configuration (at the moment this is limited to preset configurations, but that will change in the future).
Open Sound Control support for all nodes, allowing a nodes attributes to be manipulated in realtime, potentially by multiple users.
A multi-threaded audio engine, able to split off different nodes audio processing into separate threads (and potentially, separate cpus/cores). This can be configured by the scene author.
Heilan aims to conform to the X3D Interchange profile, with additional support for certain nodes such as Sound and NurbsPatchSurface. It may be extended with libraries which can provide extra nodes, navigation types, and sound file loaders. It comes with a library containing my own experimental audiovisual nodes, and a couple of extra navigation types.
The browser itself is a command line program designed to be used offline (theres no browser plugin or http/ftp support), though there is a GUI frontend available as well (included in the binary package). Both are open source, licensed under the GPL.
Enhancements:
- This release has the EXAMINE navigation type implemented correctly for the first time, and multitexturing is now implemented.
- Basic support for GLSL shaders is also included via the ProgramShader and ShaderProgram X3D nodes.
- Some new nodes have been added to libheilanextras, and a number of minor bugs have been fixed.

MWSpeaker project is the worst speech synthesis software ever.
You provide a phrase, and MWSpeaker looks up each word in Merriam-Websters online dictionary, downloads the corresponding pronounciations, and plays them in sequence.
M-W Speaker takes a phrase (no punctuation please), takes each work, looks it up on the Meriam Webster website, downloads the sound file, and then, once it has sound files for each word in the phrase, plays them all back to back.
The result is something that resembles the sentence with any proper names and words not considered proper english words removed. This process is pretty slow since each word has to be looked up and the sound file downloaded by hey :)
This is mostly just for fun. I see no practical use for this whatsoever.
Its written in Python.

Volume.app is a small graphical software utility enabling quick and convenient control of a computers audio volume level. Volume.app is intended for use on Linux/Unix systems in conjunction with an X window manager that supports dockable applications ("dockapps") such as AfterStep, BlackBox, or Window Maker.
It is a refinement of an idea that first appeared in Timecops WMix: a user interface comprising a "knob" that can be interactively "turned" by clicking and dragging the mouse. I found this approach quite appealing, both from an aesthetic viewpoint, and (more importantly) from a user-interface perspective.
A handful of other dockapp volume control programs are out there, and I have tried many of them. An interface element present in most of these is some form of "slider" as the primary means of adjusting the volume. (A fictitious example may be seen at right). To my dismay, with this kind of interface, volume adjustments tended to be large and abrupt. Because the slider was so small, raising or lowering the volume "just a bit" required extremely careful control of the mouse-- a slip of the hand had the potential to spike the volume to full blast. (I have a set of Altec-Lansing ACS48 speakers which make this a rather unpleasant experience). This approach left much to be desired.
I longed for an alternative, and upon playing with WMix (pictured at left) I had found it. The knob was genius in that it provided a means of graphically adjusting the volume, as a slider would, without tying itself directly to the motion of the mouse. The basic mode of usage is identical: you click on the thing and drag the mouse up or down. However, with the knob, the range of motion need not be confined to the postage-stamp-sized area of the dockapp. The mouse travel needed to cover the entire range of volume settings can be made longer, on the order of the full height of the screen-- almost like a much larger, easier-to-use slider. No longer were precise movements needed to make volume adjustments!
Still, I found WMixs interface to be a bit busy (never was a fan of tiny little buttons) and the all-important knob was yet a rather small target to find with the mouse. So, I grabbed a copy of the WMix source code, and rebuilt it into a dockapp that had a much larger knob as its sole interface element. I dubbed it Volume.app, and have placed it here for the benefit of everyone.

Half duplex doesnt seem to have any problems. Full duplex appears to only work on a few modems and it may lock yours up. More importantly full duplex may pop your speakers.
If yours locks up execute "killall chat" at a command line to get back.
