kio_fish 1.1.2

kio_fish 1.1.2

Kio_fish is a kioslave for KDE 2/3 that lets you view and manipulate your remote files . more>>
Kio_fish is a kioslave for KDE 2/3 that lets you view and manipulate your remote files using just a simple shell account and some standard unix commands on the remote machine.
Usage is really simple: open up a konqueror window (or use the Alt-F2 dialog) and type fish://user@remote.machi.ne. kio_fish will ask you for the password, if any is needed, and you will start out in your home directory. Now you have to do everything you do on your local hard disk.
This is a complete client implementation using his original version 0.0.2 protocol, extending it with 2 commands (which are only optional - should a real FISH server exist on server side that doesnt understand them, this ioslave still works, only slower). Moreover, this client does complete shell metacharacter quoting on all arguments, a fact that is neccessary but missing from the specs. Extensions used are: append (APPEND command), copy (COPY command), lscount (LIST first prints number of files to be listed), lslinks (LIST shows symlink info instead of info about link targets), lsmime (LIST
determines the MIME type on the server side) Password and host key queries are handled via dialog boxes. The goal of this client is to make a remote directory look and feel exactly like a local directory, with all comfort, only slower.
Included below is the original posting from the mc mailing list archives. If perl is installed on the remote machine and in the default PATH, it will be used to transfer a custom server script which is much faster than shell-only mode and more predictable as well. The script is stored in a file called .fishsrv.pl in the working directory di
Enhancements:
- fixed shell mode symlink display
- made perl server compatible with 5.005

kio-ftps is an ftps KIO slave for KDE, based on rfc4217 and build upon the ftp KIO-slave sources.
kio-ftps should work yet with most server implementations It issues an "AUTH TLS" command after connecting and refuses to continue, when its not supported.
In prior to every data channel io command ("STOR", "RETR", etc) it tries to secure the data channel via "PBSZ" and "PROT" commands. If that fails it will transfer data unencrypted. There is currently no support for ssl-certificates. This might be added on demand.
Enhancements:
- initial release and svn repository set up.

KIO-POV 0.2

KIO-POV 0.2

KIO-POV is a KDE IO-Slave for the Persistence of Vision Raytracer (POV-Ray). more>>
KIO-POV is a KDE IO-Slave for the Persistence of Vision Raytracer (POV-Ray).
It provides an easy-to-use interface to POV-Ray for rendering scenes, viewing render results, render logs and information about POV-Ray files. For example if you want to render the scene /usr/local/share/povray-3.6/scenes/advanced/biscuit.pov (which comes with POV-Ray) you just open:
pov:/usr/local/share/povray-3.6/scenes/advanced/biscuit.pov?render
in konqueror (or in a KDE image editor if you want to edit the image) and you get the image rendered by POV-Ray.
Render results are cached so when you access the same render twice without modifying the scene you will not have to wait for the render to finish again.
Apart from the basic rendering mode which returns a PNG image you can also access information summaries about the scene in HTML form (see screenshot) and view the log file of the render. If POV-Ray reports errors while processing the scene the error message will be shown as well.
KIO-POV also supports MegaPOV. MegaPOV scenes are automatically rendered with MegaPOV if it is installed.
Note KIO-POV requires POV-Ray 3.6 or 3.6.1 to function properly. It is strongly recommended to install the latest official version from the POV-Ray website (both the source and the binary version will work).
If you want to report bugs in KIO-POV or otherwise want to contact me about it you can do so via the povray.tools.general newsgroup on the POV-Ray newsserver. For KDE-related questions the KDE mailing lists will also be helpful.
Enhancements:
- adding animation support (using ffmpeg)
- adding inline render previews in the file information pages
- fixing various bugs

Kio-Sword 0.3

Kio-Sword 0.3

Kio-Sword provides access to Bibles, commentaries, and other texts from within the Konqueror Web browser. more>>
Kio-Sword project is a kioslave for the KDE environment. KDE uses kioslaves to access files from many different sources or protocols. For example, the file:/ protocol is used for all local file access, http:/ is used for web access, and the help:/ protocol/ioslave is another way to access the help files in the KDE Help Center.

Kio-Sword adds the sword:/ protocol to your system for easy access to Sword modules. Just type sword:/ in Konquerors location bar, and youll be presented with a list of modules you can browse as a web page. If you know exactly where you want to go, you can get there quicker - e.g. type sword:/KJV/John 3:16 for John 3:16 in the King James version.

Kio-Sword features hyperlinked cross references (for example in commentary modules) and hyperlinked Strongs numbers and morphological tags (in modules that include them). Basic search functionality is also included, as well as the ability to customise the page using various options, and by providing your own CSS file.

kio-clucene 0.1.0

kio-clucene 0.1.0

kio-clucene provides an indexed search engine for KDE. more>>
kio-clucene provides an indexed search engine for KDE.
kio-clucene is a KDE search ioslave that uses clucene, a C++ implementation of lucene, a well-known full-featured text search engine library. kio-clucene gives any KDE application friendly access to searching the content of files inside directories, archives, and many virtual file systems. Optical character recognition (OCR) is supported by using a program like gocr, allowing the text content of images to be indexed.
Main features:
kio-clucene can search for
- full text content
- mimetype
- metainfo
- mod. dates
- path names
- multifield queries are possible (a multifield search-dialog can be used (or not))
kio-clucene can index
- local files
- remote files (ftp,pop3,... (basic support))
- archives (basic local support)
- read-only data stored on cds,dvds.
- text inside images using optical character recognition OCR programs like gocr
kio-clucene stores previews of
- all images
- all videos
kio-clucene can search on
- a single index
- multiple indexes
- Multithreaded search-daemon.
Integration with KDE
- kio-clucene integrates well to the existing kde-framework. You can use kio-clucene from
- konqueror location-bar
- kicker "run command"
- "Alt+F2" "run command"
- any apps, using the openfile dialog
- Example: from kpdf, you could open the file-dialog and search very fast for your pdfs like adobe acrobat reader can do.
The ioslave is build to be user-friendly
- it works a bit like KDE remote-ioslave
- it can call a search-dialog which allow for multifields queries
- it displays recent queries
- recent queries can be saved to desktop-files
- => this almost emulates "virtual folders"
Search-engine
- The search engine is based on clucene, a c++ implementation of apache/lucene. clucene allows for sophisticated queries like:
- proximity-words queries
- but kio-clucene does not implements queries of the form *substring yet.
Display of the results
- So far only standard KDE-listviews are used to display the URLs of the matching documents. No kpart is provided for the display/sorting of the results like beagle can do.
Instantaneous file indexing
- This is not provided by the indexer, but any KDE application can make use of DCOP to request the indexing of any URL. Instantaneous indexing is a kernel/kdecore problem. But Suse 9.3 already ships with beagle installed, and an inotify-enabled kernel. So those features should soon be available with KDE too.
kio-clucene build-system is Scons-enabled
- Kio-clucene make use of the scons build and install system.

Fish Supper 0.1.5

Fish Supper 0.1.5

Fish Supper is an arcade puzzler based on Frogger. more>>
Fish Supper is an arcade puzzler based on Frogger. Fish Supper is loosely based on the retro classic Frogger.

Guide a cat across a series of rivers, jumping from log to log to reach a tasty fish supper on the other side.

Before landing on a log, though, you need to make sure youve got a crystal the same colour (or two that together will make that colour), otherwise youre zapped back to the beginning.

Written in C++/SDL.

Installation:

You will need the SDL, SDL_image and SDL_mixer libraries and development files.

After unpacking the archive, go into the "src" directory:
cd FishSupper/src

Type: make

Move back up one level: cd ..

You should now have an executable called "fishsupper" that you can run with:
./fishsupper

Kuote 0.9.3

Kuote 0.9.3

Kuote is an applet for the KDE panel, inspired by Gnomes Wanda the Fish. more>>
Kuote is an applet for the KDE panel, inspired by Gnomes Wanda the Fish. It displays an animated character (a fish by default), which pops up quotes generated by the fortune(6) program when clicked (and optionally shows them in tooltips, too).
Kuote supports kioslaves for both the animation file and fortune files (fortune directories still work from local filesystems only). This means that you can enter any URL, not only local file names.
Try for example this fortune file available over WWW: http://hektor.umcs.lublin.pl/~mikosmul/computing/inet-fortune
It contains only two quotes, so for testing purposes use it as the only fortune file or assign it a high probability if you want to actually see these fortunes.
Main features:
- support for user-defined animations (file format compatible with Wanda the Fish)
- run fortune or any other program to generate quotes
- fortune can be configured through the GUI
Enhancements:
- added new animation: "See, Hear, Speak" (CC-BY-NC-SA license) - thanks to Mark Riedesel [Klowner]
- added French translation (thanks to Nicolas Ternisien)
- added "Next" button to fortune dialog
- fixed a memory leak associated with dialog boxes
