killppp 1.0
killppp purpose is to kill ppp pid after n time of no traffic. more>>
killppp purpose is to kill ppp pid after n time of no traffic. This is especially useful for dial-up users who pay per time-unit of being connected. The typical use for it, is to start a large download along with killppp and go away. The script will shut down ppp after the downloading is done. Thus saving unnecessary cost of unused network connectivity.
Depending on how your linux is configured you may need to be root to have the right to kill a ppp process and it may have to be the ppp daemon (pppd).
To find the pid of your ppp process type: ps aux | grep ppp
How this script works? Once activated, killppp checks every minute for network traffic on the ppp0 device. As long as data is passing through, killppp does nothing. Upon no traffic killppp starts counting time until it reaches the specified time and kills the ppp process.
killppp [-hl] < pid > < n >s|m|h|d
Options:
< pid >, process ID
< n >s|m|h|d, n seconds|minutes|hours|days of no traffic
-h, usage and options (this help)
-m, manual
-l, see this script"

Intellidiscs 1.1
Intellidiscs is a Remake of Tron: Deadly Discs for the classic Intellivision console. more>>
Intellidiscs is a Remake of Tron: Deadly Discs for the classic Intellivision console. Its also one of the few, if not the first, Tron freeware games that has nothing to do with light-cycles.
Basically, you run around in an arena fighting off bad guys with your disc. There are four different varieties of bad guy, and one of them has three different varieties of disc. More difficult enemies appear as your score increases, with the most difficult showing up if you can reach 1,000,000 points.
Bad guys enter through doors on the sides of the arena. You can jam these doors open by either hitting them with your disc, or by running into them. If you jam open doors that are opposite each other, you can run in one side and come out the other. This is very important to your survival.
If you jam enough doors, eventually a recognizer will be dispatched to fix them. If you can hit the recognizer when its eye is open, it will stop fixing the doors and leave the arena. Plus, you get lots of points for this.
You can take three hits before you die, and every hit makes you slower! You will eventually recover from damage, regaining your speed as well. Touching the recognizer kills you instantly, so dont do it.
Default controls are the familiar WASD to move, and the outer keys of numpad (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, non-Mac users turn Num Lock on!) throw your disc in any of eight directions. If you press one of the throw keys while your disc is in flight, it will return to you. Discs are harmless when returning. If you move away from your disc as it is flying back, it will never catch up to you, you must stop and catch it. All of the controls can be changed from the main menu.

distmake 0.4
distmake is a distributed make program. more>>
distmake is a distributed make program.
distmake is a distributed, parallel, GNU make compatible make program.
distmake reads a Makefile, and distributes builds targets over a set of build servers on the network.
distmake is fully compatible with GNU make 3.80 on which is it based.
distmake should compile on any POSIX compliant platforms.
It has been reported to compile and work on :
Linux 2.4 on x86
Solaris 2.8 on sparc
Cygwin
How distmake works:
Before the make process is started, distmake starts a ONC RPC server (rpc.bldserver) on all build servers with a rsh command (but see below how to change this and use ssh instead). This RPC server listens for distmake requests, processes jobs (builds) and reports execution status. When all jobs are done, distmake kills each RPC server on remote machines.
Controlling distmake:
The following environment variables are used by distmake:
DISTMAKE_RSH, if present, should point to a rsh compatible program (ssh is a good candidate if security is a concern for your site).
DISTMAKE_RPCBLDSERVER, if present, should point to the rpc.bldserver program, built with distmake. If this variable does not exist, a compile-time value is used instead. (PREFIX/bin/rpc.bldserver).
Debugging distmake:
Use distmake --debug=r[,other debug flags]
Enhancements:
- This release offers two modes of operation: automatic on-demand start of remote build servers, or use waiting daemons.
- This combines the behaviours of releases 0.2 and 0.3.1.

NetPipes 4.2
NetPipes provides a set of utilities to attach stdin/stdout utilities to network sockets. more>>
NetPipes provides a set of utilities to attach stdin/stdout utilities to network sockets.
The netpipes package makes TCP/IP streams usable in shell scripts. It can also simplify client/server code by allowing the programmer to skip all the tedious programming bits related to sockets and concentrate on writing a filter/service.
Applications of these utilities can include file transfer, network backups, HTTP queries, remote procedure calls, and TCP daemon testing.
The SSL encryption filter available in the US/Canada version can be applied by shell scripts communicating with secure HTTPDs and can be used to make an SSL IMAPD out of a non-SSL one. (requires the SSLeay library).
aucet is the server end of a TCP/IP stream. It listens on a port of the local machine waiting for connections. Every time it gets a connection it forks a process to perform a service for the connecting client.
hose is the client end of a TCP/IP stream. It actively connects to a remote port and execs a process to request a service.
encapsulate is an implementation of the Session Control Protocol. It allows you to multiplex several streams across a single TCP session and also transmits remote exit status.
ssl-auth is an encryption filter that encapsulates stdin/stdout from a subprocess (or its own stdin/stdout) in the Secure Socket Layer protocol as implemented by the SSLeay library. It can be used to communicate with encrypted daemons (HTTPS daemons, or SSL IMAP daemons) and can sometimes be used to jury-rig secure versions of such services.
sockdown is a simple program designed to shut down part or all of the socket connection. It is primarily useful when the processes connected to the socket perform both input and output.
getpeername and getsockname are two names for a program designed to print out the addresses of the ends of a socket. getpeername prints the address of the remote end and getsockname prints the address of the local end.
timelimit limits the amount of foreground wallclock time a process can consume. After the time limit runs out it either kills the process or exits and leaves it in the background.
