kdetv 0.8.9
kdetv is a KDE application that allows you to watch television on your GNU/Linux box running KDE. more>>
kdetv project is a KDE application that allows you to watch television on your GNU/Linux box running KDE. You probably know it as QtVision, the completely rewritten version of KWinTV.
As the application gains stability and features on a daily basis now it has been named kdetv and can be found in the extragear software collection of KDE.
To see what has been changed and how much kdetv has improved recently, try a release, grab a snapshot (both hosted on dziegel.free.fr), or download the latest source code out of SVN.
There is a lot of activity and work going into the development of kdetv at the moment. You probably remember (or even use) an application named KWinTV. That application had a lot of problems and limitations that were hard to fix. Therefore a decision has been made to start from scratch and build a completely new application: kdetv.
You can find the latest source code of kdetv -- formerly known as QtVision -- in SVN, of course. Our SVN Info Page has more about how to get it out of CVS and compile it on your system. Note: kdetv only supports KDE3!
The plug-in architecture of kdetv makes it possible to extend the application in many different ways, and there are several plug-ins already available. For example there is an XVideo plug-in, an OSS mixer plug-in, several channel file plug-ins, etc.
Some of these plug-ins still require some work, and of course there are a lot of plug-ins that are waiting for implementation. If you want to contribute to the project, how about a nice plug-in?

kdsing 0.3.0
kdsing is a project that searches in words list (for translations). more>>
kdsing is a project that searches in words list (for translations).
kdsing uses a word list (e.g. English :: German) and lets you search though it.
This makes it a simple but very useful tool for looking up words when doing translations. It is derived from dsing.
kdsing is derived from dsing, a Tcl/Tk program to search in word lists
and help translators.
This is the port to KDE3.
Main features:
- Path to word list
- Specify the path to your word list. This is /usr/local/dsing/words.gz if you use the kdsing-words RPM.
- Word delimiter
- One or more characters used to delimit the two language columns. Default is "::".
- Clear list for new search
- Will clear the output window before starting a new search.
- Show all or show max. hits
- Show all matched lines or only the first n.
- Word search
- Search for whole words only (-w grep option)
- case insensitive
- Ignore case of search pattern (-i grep option)
- always at beginning of line
- Match has to occur at the beginning of line. This will only search in the first column.
- use zgrep
- Zgrep is for searching in a gzip compressed file. The file in the kdsing-words RPM is gzip compressed, so you have to check this option.
- show command
- Check this one if you are interested in how a command line would look like.
- regular expression
- Interpret the seach pattern as a regular expression. See manual page of grep for more details.
Enhancements:
- Initial Creation

KWallBuilder 0.1
KWallBuilder is a tool for adding iptable rules based on the responses of the user. more>>
KWallBuilder is a tool for adding iptable rules based on the responses of the user. KWallBuilder project tries to insulate the user from the complexities of the iptables mechanism.
The current version supports rules based on network layer protocol and ports. It supports TCP,UDP and ICMP protocols.
While KWallBuilder adds iptable rules, it does not guarantee that the added rules will be sufficient to completely protect the system, more details can be obtained from the applications home page.
Though the rpm provided is for SuSE, it can be used on any distribution. The rpm installs in /opt/kde3/ . The application and the icon can then be copied into the KDE directory for the distribution.
Main features:
- KWallBuilder adds rules based on ports and network layer protocol.
- The added rules are restored on application startup.
- Packets of similar type (i.e. those that will result in the same rule) are queued if the first packet of the type is awaiting user response and the user response applied to them.

KMol 0.3.3
KMol is a molecular weight and elemental composition calculator. more>>
KMol calculates the elemental compositon and molecular weight of compounds from their chemical formula. KMol supports user defined groups and elements, unlimited nesting of subgroups, multicomponent compounds, global and per-user symbol definitions.
KMol is designed to be able to parse any chemical formula that can be
unambiguously interpreted if written as a simple character sequence (i.e.,
without subscript and superscript formating). If you can understand a chemical
formula, chances are KMol will understand it in exactly the same way.
Enhancements:
- Fixed KDE3 compilation problem. Fixed saving of user-defined weights.

Docker 1.5
Docker is a docking application (WindowMaker dock app) which acts as a system tray for KDE and GNOME2. more>>
Docker is a docking application (WindowMaker dock app) which acts as a system tray for KDE and GNOME2. Docker can be used to replace the panel in either environment, allowing you to have a system tray w ithout running the KDE/GNOME panel or environment.
I wrote and designed Docker to work with Openbox 2, but it should work fine in any window manager that supports WindowMaker dock apps.
If you running WindowMaker or otherwise and experiencing problems, you should try using the -wmaker option to make docker keep a fixed size.
Docker requires a KDE3 compliant window manager to handle KDE3 system tray icons, and since it is a docking application, the window manager needs to also support WindowMaker Dock Apps. The only window manager that meets these requirements to my knowledge is:
- Openbox 2 (http://icculus.org/openbox)
If you know of any other window managers that support the KDE3 hints for the system tray and docking apps (i.e. that docker works in), please let me know so I can add them to this list, and test docker out in them!
Why dont my GNOME2 system tray icons show up?
I dont know! Email me and let me know what application isnt working. (Dont you dare email me about a GNOME1 application!

kwave 0.7.8
kwave is a simple digital sound signal editor for KDE. more>>
Kwave is a sound editor designed for the KDE Desktop Environment.
It is still under continuous development but each official release should be considered to be stable. This is also the reason why releases come out only every few months: one of the goals of the project is to have a reliable and stable sound editor. Stability has a higher prority than the number of features. (The reason why I started to join this project was that I wanted to have a sound editor that does not crash every few minutes...)
After the big port to KDE2 it has temporarily fallen back to alpha state and some of the features of the old 0.5 version only will come back one by one. However, the program already seems to be useful for many people for most all-day work. Many missing functions and features will be ported in future versions...
Please keep in mind that the step from 0.5 to 0.6 was nearly a complete rewrite of the whole program and its internal architecture! The main focus was on robustness and a clean design, not on the pure amount of features.
Main features:
- KDE3 conform GUI
- 24 Bit Support
- Undo/Redo
- Simple Drag & Drop
- Realtime Pre-Listen for some effects
- Support for multi-track files
- Complete zoom and scroll-capability
- Playback via KDEs aRts or OSS (deprecated)
- Recording via OSS
- Load and edit-capability for large files (can use virtual memory)
- Reading and auto-repair of damaged wav-files
- Supports multiple windows
- Extendable Plugin interface
- a nice splashscreen
Plugins
- Amplify free
- Fadein and out
- Lowpass Filter
- Notch Filter
- Pitch Shift
- Playback
- Recording
- Silence
- Noise
- Sonagram
- Select Range
- Volume
- Import/Export of all file types supported by libaudiofile
- Import of MP3 through libmad and id3lib
- Import/Export of Ogg/Vorbis
- Import/Export of FLAC
Enhancements:
- bugfix: workaround for bug in ALSA, crashed when initializing the dsnoop plugin
- bugfix: error in swap file handling, one sample was destroyed when resizing. Affects cut, delete, crop and many other functions.
- fixed the incorrect usage of the word "loose" (thanks to J.T. Hundley)
- bugfix: went back to old implementation of ThreadsafeX11Guard class in order to fix a deadlock (closes sourceforge bug #1623357)
- documentation update: mention Subversion instead of CVS
- zero plugin: new mode, support for inserting a range filled with silence
- fixed the macro functions "Fade Leadin" and "Fade Leadout", using the new mode of the zero plugin

EasySok 0.3.5
EasySok project is a sokoban game for KDE. more>>
EasySok project is a sokoban game for KDE3.
In sokoban you are a warehouse keeper which has to push gems on their goals. The problem is, that the keeper can only push one gem and there are walls which stand in his way.
Sokoban was originally invented in 1982 by Hiroyuki Imabayashi at the Japanese company Thinking Rabbit, Inc. Sokoban has a (relatively) small, but very active group of fans around the world, which permanently create new levels and sokoban programs, so its unlikely that youll run out of new material.
If you dont use KDE3, just look at the link section, to find programs which are supported on your favorite platform (there are versions for Windows, Mac, PalmPilot, DOS and several Java programs, so you should find a program which you can use).
Main features:
- Playable with mouse or keyboard (or both).
- Automatically saves the last attempt for each map and all solutions.
- The best solutions for each level can be send to a highscore server and compared with the solutions of other users. The solutions are compared by the minimum number of pushes, the minimum number of linear pushes, the minimum number of gem changes and the minimum number of moves.
- A retro mode. In this mode you play the game backwards, starting from the end position. This allows you to quickly determine, in which order you have to push the gems on the goals.
- Saving and loading of games, level collections and solutions.
- A map editor, which lets you create your own maps and collections. It has also very limited support for auto generation of maps.
- Export a map as an image.
- Export a game either as an MNG-animation.
- An easy way to find duplicate maps.
- Annotation of solutions.
- Bookmarks for fast switching between games. You can also import your old KSokoban bookmarks.
- Unlimited undo/redo.
- You can let your moves be played.
- You can optimize your solutions for the number of moves or pushes made. This can also be done automatically for you.
- A basic solver (its not really clear, if this is a feature or a misfeature).
- You can change the look of the game by themes (currently the number of themes is really quite small).
- You can let the game honor dead fields (which are fields, where no gem should ever be positioned, because it cannot be moved to a goal from there). Depending on the theme, this dead fields are also marked. You have to try it, to really appreciate it!
- You can also let the programm show you all valid gem pushes.
- Its highly configurable.
Enhancements:
- Fixed configuration of toolbar.
- Made toolbar hidable.
- Updated admin dir to kde3.3 version.
