Barrage 1.0.2
Barrage is a rather violent action game with the objective to kill and destroy as many targets as possible within 3 minutes. more>>
Barrage is a rather violent action game with the objective to kill and destroy as many targets as possible within 3 minutes. You control a gun that may either fire small or large grenades at soldiers, jeeps and tanks.
Targets are fast paced and require careful aiming as it takes half a second to reload the gun. Additionally you have to keep an eye on your ammo and reload in time. Useful to kill some minutes of idle time.
And yes, the graphics look similiar to Command&Conquer but they are self-pixeled. I just used a screenshot of C&C as sketch. And no, none of the sounds are taken from C&C. I created all of them by myself except for the fonts which come from Karl Bartel.

wbar 1.3.1
wbar is a quick launch bar recommended for fluxbox or Window Maker. more>>
wbar is a quick launch bar recommended for fluxbox or Window Maker. wbars goal is speed.
This is eye candy developed in C++. The motivation is eye-candy which runs as fast as possible but still it probably made faster.
Tested succesfully on Fluxbox, WindowMaker.
Can be tweaked for other window managers but those who usualy use a desktop application such as nautilus will obscure Warbar because it runs with override-redirection so the window manager doesnt do the decorations and stays at the bottom of root window.
Installation:
- Needs imlib2
# make
create initial config for user (should make config with each user)
# make config
as root (if you dont have a bin directory at home)
# make install
warbar --help
Enhancements:
- Expansion now occurs on entering and leaving the bar.
- Better cleaning and drawing algorithms were implemented.

Acme::EyeDrops 1.51
Acme::EyeDrops is a Perl module for visual programming in Perl. more>>
Acme::EyeDrops is a Perl module for visual programming in Perl.
SYNOPSIS
use Acme::EyeDrops qw(sightly);
print sightly( { Shape => camel,
SourceFile => eyesore.pl } );
Acme::EyeDrops converts a Perl program into an equivalent one, but without all those unsightly letters and numbers.
In a Visual Programming breakthrough, EyeDrops allows you to pour the generated program into various shapes, such as UML diagrams, enabling you to instantly understand how the program works just by glancing at its new and improved visual representation.
Unlike Acme::Bleach and Acme::Buffy, the generated program runs without requiring that Acme::EyeDrops be installed on the target system.
EXAMPLES
Getting Started
Suppose you have a program, helloworld.pl, consisting of:
print "hello worldn";
To convert this little program into an equivalent camel-shaped one, create cvt.pl as follows:
# cvt.pl. Convert helloworld.pl into a camel shape.
use Acme::EyeDrops qw(sightly);
print sightly( { Shape => camel,
SourceFile => helloworld.pl,
Regex => 1 } );
Then run it like this:
perl cvt.pl >new.pl
After inspecting the newly created program, new.pl, to verify that it does indeed resemble a camel, run it:
perl new.pl
to confirm it behaves identically to the original helloworld.pl.
Instead of using the API, as shown above, you may find it more convenient to use the sightly.pl command in the demo directory:
sightly.pl -h (for help)
sightly.pl -s camel -f helloworld.pl -r >new.pl
cat new.pl (should look like a camel)
perl new.pl (should print "hello world" as before)
Notice that the shape camel is just the file camel.eye in the EyeDrops sub-directory underneath where EyeDrops.pm is located, so you are free to add your own new shapes as required.
For the meaning of Regex => 1 above, see the Just another Perl hacker section below.

FlatFrag 0.3
FlatFrag is a multiplayer action shooter game. more>>
FlatFrag is a multiplayer action shooter game. With its deathmatch fights it strives to be an entertaining arcade-style experience.
The game is played from a birds eye view and contains some 3D effects in order to make it not seem too flat. Currently only the game mode deathmatch is available, but others will probably be developed in the future.
The game has been built from scratch, though a few important libraries were used in the process. For example, OpenGL is used for fast 3D graphics and SDL provides the game with many cross-platform functions.
It is developed by a single person as a hobby project, but it is released under the terms of the GPL (GNU General Public License), which makes it Open Source software. So everybody is able to get the sourcecode and do his own changes to the project.
Main features:
- Cross-platform support currently for Linux and Microsoft Windows (planned: Mac OS X, BSD, though you can try it anywhere with the provided sourcecode)
- 3D graphics using OpenGL -- the game is played from a birds eye view, but the individual tiles are 3D cubes
- 3D sound using OpenAL -- 2D would probably be more appropriate
- SDL is used for cross-platform input, networking and window creation
- Multiplayer network games with up to 32 players (actually there is no fixed limit set yet)
- Support for Lua-scripted modifications (more like planned, but the console already expects Lua code as input)
- File types: Ogg Vorbis used for sound compression, PNG used for image compression
- Advanced particle system
- Dynamic lighting
- Bots
- Ridable cars and usable stationary guns
- 14 different weapons (some of them very unconventional)
- In-game map editor
- Game modes: deathmatch (more planned)
- Dedicated game server
- A server list function, which fetches a list of servers. You can also see the list of servers here.
- Completely free software -- free as in speech and free as in beer -- Licensed under the GPL

NAmpel 0.4
NAmpel is a daemon for visualizing the state of a network using Nagios and a set of status LEDs attached to a parallel port. more>>
NAmpel is a daemon for visualizing the state of a network using Nagios and a set of status LEDs attached to a parallel port.
NAmpel is the Nagios Ampel Project, started by me to keep a closer eye on my net.
Nagios is an open source host, service and network monitoring program. Ampel is the german word for traffic lights, which is the intended hardware part of this project.
NAmpel will resemble traffic lights, indicating the state of affairs by means of three lights.
Green: everything is ok, no need to check Nagios.
Orange: there are at least one warnings from Nagios. Better take a look.
Red: One or more services are in critical state. Panic.
The project was inspired by an idea once published at the Nagios website. There was an image of a device doing just the same and the announcement, it would be published as soon as it was ready.
The software part is a Perl script, checking the Tactical Overview of Nagios at certain intervals and writing the results to the parallel port. It uses four bits to do so: Bit 0 for the green, 1 for the yellow and 2 for the red light.
Finally a fourth light (I chose blue) is available as a heartbeat signal, flashing once every second to show the daemon is still running. Detailed instructions how to build the hardware part will be available at my website soon. soon. It is derived from a project which can be found at: easy-mod (in german).
Enhancements:
- There is no longer need to edit the script itself, since there is a decent configuration file and handling of default values.
- Debugging also becomes significantly easier with the brand new debug configuration directive.

jakarta-tomcat 6.0.13
The Jakarta Project offers a diverse set of open source Java solutions. more>>
Jakarta Project offers a diverse set of open source Java solutions and is a part of The Apache Software Foundation (ASF) which encourages a collaborative, consensus-based development process under an open software license.
Jakarta is organized into subprojects, summarized in the section below. The ASF contains other Java projects, some of which were a part of Jakarta.
Tomcat 5.5.12 has been voted a stable release after a testing period following the alpha distribution. There have been no code changes, so if you already have 5.5.12-alpha, you do not need to download 5.5.12 again. Thank you.
This release is the last one to be done using the CVS repository at Apache. The Tomcat team is moving to the Subversion (SVN) repository as part of the overall Apache initiative to do so. Access instructions for the SVN repository are available at Apaches repositories page. The move is expected to be complete within the next week.
This release is also likely the last one to use the Jakarta pages. As part of Tomcats move to a top-level project (TLP) at Apache, we will be migrating our content to http://tomcat.apache.org, which is still under construction at this time. That site will have its own download pages and related information. We will keep the key jakarta URLs intact with redirection, but please keep an eye out and update your bookmarks to http://tomcat.apache.org as/when appropriate.
As part of the TLP move, distribution names have changed from jakarta-tomcat-* to apache-tomcat-*, and similar minor branding changes will gradually become visible in the web site and documentation. We thank the Jakarta project for its support over the years, and we will continue collaborating on projects and issues of common interest.
