SffTools project consists of SffToBmp, a little utility that converts Structured Fax Files to BMP, PBM, JPEG, or single- and multipage TIFF format, and SffView, a GUI viewer for those files.
The tools should be especially useful to people who are faxing with ISDN cards because the CAPI interface of these cards generates such files. CAPI support for Linux is available for the active card AVM B1 and the passive card AVM Fritz!
Enhancements:
- This release has printing support, MRU file list support, and remembers the window position and size.
- It also tolerates up to 2048 bytes of garbage at the beginning of the file, just like SffToBmp 3.1.

ljKlient is a KDE LiveJournal client, written in Python 2.4 (as such, it requires PyQt and PyKDE for KDE 3.x).
ljKlient project is currently in an early phase, but the 0.0.x series is useable. It supports posting to shared journals, selecting userpics, LiveJournal-supplied moods and custom ones, current music, tags and simple post security (public-private-friendsonly).
Enhancements:
- German translation by Schneelocke;
- Hungarian, Swedish and Russian translations updated
- Hungarian is deemed nplurals=1, plural=0 by KDE3, whereas GNU (correctly) thinks it is nplurals=2, plural=n!=1 at least in some cases.
- Spellchecking is now enabled by default
- Added support for the system menu, .desktop file places the app to menu:/Internet
- Friendlist update dialog now uses a KTextBrowser, can click on user links, profile icons, just like in LiveJournal.
- A minor change to the icons (shifted them one pixel down)
- Some changes to the translatable strings in friendlist

ifstat 1.1
ifstat is a tool to report network interface bandwith just like vmstat/iostat do for other system counters. more>>
ifstat is a tool to report network interface bandwith just like vmstat/iostat do for other system counters. It can monitor local interfaces by polling the kernel counters, or remote hosts interfaces using SNMP.
fstat gathers these statistics from the kernel internal counters, which is highly operating system dependent.
Right now, the following systems are supported:
Linux >= 2.2.0 (through /proc/net/dev file).
FreeBSD >= 2.2 (using the ifmib(4) interface).
Solaris >= 5.6 (using the kstat(3K) interface).
IRIX and OpenBSD (using the SIOCGIFDATA ioctl).
NetBSD and Darwin (using the route(4) sysctl interface).
Other BSDs (using the kvm(3) interface).
Digital Unix (OSF/1), Tru64, and Aix (using the legacy kmem interface).
HP-UX (using the DPLI streams interface).
Win32 native or through Cygwin (using the GetIfTable call).
If the net-snmp (or ucd-snmp) library is available, ifstat can use it to gather statistics from remote equipments (hosts, routers, switches...) or even the local host if a SNMP daemon is running.
ifstats functionnalities can as a static application. To use it, you just have to pass --enable-library while configuring ifstat.
Enhancements:
- Digital Unix (OSF/1) and Tru64 support.
- AIX support (tested on AIX v4.3).
- HP-UX support with DLPI streams interface. (sample code contributed by Jean-Marc Saffroy )
- Win32 support (native or with cygwin) with GetIfTable interface. (sample code contributed by Alexandre Raclot )
- Use net-snmp-config if present to find out SNMP flags.

HTML::HiLiter 0.13
HTML::HiLiter is a Perl module that can highlight words in an HTML document just like a felt-tip HiLiter. more>>
HTML::HiLiter is a Perl module that can highlight words in an HTML document just like a felt-tip HiLiter.
HTML::HiLiter is designed to make highlighting search queries in HTML easy and accurate. HTML::HiLiter was designed for CrayDoc 4, the Cray documentation server. It has been written with SWISH::API users in mind, but can be used within any Perl program.
SYNOPSIS
use HTML::HiLiter;
my $hiliter = new HTML::HiLiter(
WordCharacters => w-.,
BeginCharacters => w,
EndCharacters => w,
HiTag => span,
Colors => [ qw(#FFFF33 yellow pink) ],
Links => 1
TagFilter => &yourtagcode(),
TextFilter => &yourtextcode(),
Force => 1,
SWISH => $swish_api_object
);
$hiliter->Queries( foo bar or "some phrase" );
$hiliter->CSS;
$hiliter->Run(some_file_or_URL);
Main features:
- With HTML::Parser enabled (default), HTML::HiLiter evals highlighted HTML chunk by chunk, buffering all text within an HTML block element before evaluating the buffer for highlighting. If no matches to the queries are found, the HTML is immediately printed (default) or cached and returned at the end of all evaluation (Print=>0).
- You can direct the print() to a filehandle with the standard select() function in your script. Or use Print=>0 to return the highlighted HTML as a scalar string.
- Turn highlighting off on a per-tagset basis with the custom HTML "nohiliter" attribute. Set the attribute to a TRUE value (like 1) to turn off highlighting for the duration of that tag.
- Ample debugging. Set the $HTML::HiLiter::Debug variable to a level between 1 and 3, and lots of debugging info will be printed within HTML comments .
- Will highlight link text (the stuff within an tagset) if the HREF value is a valid match. See the Links option.
- Smart context. Wont highlight across an HTML block element like a tagset or a tagset. (IMHO, your indexing software shouldnt consider matches for phrases that span across those tags either.)
- Rotating colors. Each query gets a unique color. The default is four different colors, which will repeat if you have more than four queries in a single document. You can define more colors in the new() object call.
- Cascading Style Sheets. Will add a

mod_auth_script 1.3 Alpha
mod_auth_script Apache module makes it possible authentication/authorization to be done by an external program. more>>
You should have dreamed to do some complex, tricky or user friendly authentication when using Apache web server. You can do this by some CGI or PHP script to send out the requested content only when some condition is met.
However, this approach is not perfect because some features of Apache web server cannot be used under such mechanism. Such features include HTTP/1.1 partial file retrieving, content negotiation and output stream compression.
This simple and small Apache module will solve such problem. And, it also simplifies an authentication mechanism.
mod_auth_script Apache module makes it possible authentication/authorization to be done by an external program. The external program can be provided as a CGI, PHP or any other schemes which allow dynamic content to Apache.
This Apache module is written just like Apaches standard modules. It may be used as DSO (dynamic linked) module or even compiled-in (static linked) module. A simple Makefile is provided for building as DSO module. On most Unix-like system, you will type just like below:
% make
% su
# make install
I am sorry that this version does not include any documentation and samples. For configuration directive, please read the big comment block in the source file mod_auth_script.c.
I hope this module helps your web application project. I will appreciate any comments, bug reports and suggestions. And, I will be very happy if you notify me where and how this module works in a real web application.

Jmatrix project generates the Matrix the movie eye candy thingy.
jmatrix is a cute little non-ncurses green letter matrix-the-movie eye candy thingy.
It has about 20 things that you can configure to create your own matrix experience.
It is not just like the movie, though it could be fooled into being that way.
This project was inspired by Cmatrix (which you can also locate on freashmeat). My computer was just plain too slow to run the ncurses implementation of the matrix green letter thing.
Now... I went to see the movie again, and mine isnt very movie-correct. Neither is Cmatrix. They are both cool though.
In the movie, the letters dont scroll anywhere. They get poped in after a white & goes by... then they fade out. Dull eh?
Jmatrix has some pull_down() effects... and the white heads have a creap_back() method that creates some interesting effects.
Jmatrix is also very configurable. You can change almost everything.
