Pure FTP Server 1.0.21

Pure FTP Server 1.0.21

Pure FTP Server is a fast, production quality, standards-conformant FTP server based on Troll-FTPd. more>>
Pure FTP Server is a fast, production quality, standards-conformant FTP server based on Troll-FTPd. Pure FTP Server has no known vulnerability, it is trivial to set up, and it is especially designed for modern kernels.
Features include PAM support, IPv6, chroot()ed home directories, virtual domains, built-in ls, FXP protocol, anti-warez system, bandwidth throttling, restricted ports for passive downloads, an LDAP backend, XML output, and more.
Beginners can install a Pure-FTPd server in 5 minutes. It can be as simple as installing the package, typing "pure-ftpd &" and... thats all. You already have a running server, and clients can start to connect.
Theres no need to review any long and complex configuration file, where possible mistakes could have security and reliability implications. Pure-FTPd uses simple command-line switches to enable the features you need.
You can limit the number of simultaneous users, limit their bandwidth to avoid starving your ADSL or cable-modem link, hide system files (chroot), have upload/download ratios, and moderate new uploads.
Custom messages can be displayed at login-time (even changing fortune files) and when an user enters a new directory. Also, to avoid your disks being filled up, you can defined a maximal percentage, and new uploads will be disallowed once this percentage is reached.
The FXP (server-to-server) protocol is implemented. It can be available for everyone, or only for authenticated users.
Kiddies are using common brute-forcing tools that are trying to discover hidden directories. Pure-FTPd provides a protection against this. Anonymous access is secure by default. For instance, users cant access dot-files (.bash_history, .rhosts, ...) unless you explicitely enable this.
And to watch whos doing what, the pure-ftpwho command shows a table with currently active sessions, how much bandwidth is taken by every user, what files they are uploading or downloading, where they are coming from, etc.
Enhancements:
- User names can now be up to 127 characters long.
- Compilation with PAM support has been fixed on Mac OS X, and the MySQL PASSWORD() function can now be used with MySQL >= 4.1.
- Logging now has the correct timezone.
- Support for charset conversions (RFC2640) has been implemented. Large files are now handled by default, using sendfile64() if possible. SITE UTIME and OPTS MLST have been implemented.
- MySQL queries can now include multiple statements and call MySQL 5 stored procedures.
- Transferring a lot of small files is now much faster than in previous versions.

Net::FTPServer 1.122

Net::FTPServer 1.122

Net::FTPServer is a secure, extensible and configurable Perl FTP server. more>>
Net::FTPServer is a secure, extensible and configurable Perl FTP server.
SYNOPSIS
ftpd [--help] [-d] [-v] [-p port] [-s] [-S] [-V] [-C conf_file]
[-P pidfile] [-o option=value]
Net::FTPServer is a secure, extensible and configurable FTP server written in Perl.
Current features:
- Authenticated FTP access.
- Anonymous FTP access.
- Complete implementation of current RFCs.
- ASCII or binary type file transfers.
- Active or passive mode file transfers.
- Run standalone or from inetd(8).
- Security features: chroot, resource limits, tainting, protection against buffer overflows.
- IP-based and/or IP-less virtual hosts.
- Complete access control system.
- Anonymous read-only FTP personality.
- Virtual filesystem allows files to be served from a database.
- Directory aliases and CDPATH support.
- Extensible command set.
- Generate archives on the fly.
Installation:
A standard ftpd.conf file is supplied with the distribution. Full documentation for all the possible options which you may use in this file is contained in this manual page. See the section CONFIGURATION below.
After doing make install, the standard ftpd.conf file should have been installed in /etc/ftpd.conf. You will probably need to edit this file to suit your local configuration.
Also after doing make install, several start-up scripts will have been installed in /usr/sbin/*ftpd.pl. (On Debian in /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin). Each start-up script starts the server in a different configuration: either as a full FTP server, or as an anonymous-only read-only FTP server, etc.
The commonly used scripts are:
- /usr/sbin/ftpd.pl
- /usr/sbin/ro-ftpd.pl
The first script is for the full FTP server.
These scripts assume that the perl interpreter can be found on the current $PATH. In the rare situation when this is not the case, you may need to edit these scripts.

SafeTP provides a transparent secure FTP Software. more>>
SafeTP provides a transparent secure FTP Software.

SafeTP is a security application for Windows and UNIX users who use FTP to connect to their accounts on UNIX or NT FTP servers. The traditional FTP protocol is highly insecure: it sends passwords in the clear. SafeTP is designed to overcome this flaw.

SafeTP consists of the client, sftpc, and the server, sftpd. A key advantage of SafeTP is transparency for clients. When the Windows version SafeTP is installed, any ordinary Windows FTP client automatically becomes a Secure FTP client, without any further user intervention.

Fast File Search 1.1.13

Fast File Search 1.1.13

Fast File Search crawls FTP servers and SMB shares. more>>
Fast File Search is a crawler for FTP servers and SMB shares that can be found on Windows or UNIX systems running Samba.
It provides a web interface for searching files. It is optimized for searching files by a wildcard when there are some normal (not * or ?) chars specified in the beginning or in the end of the mask (for example *.iso).
Fast File Search crawler runs on UNIX (currently only Linux has been tested but I do not now any reasons why it should not work on other UNIXes). Fast File Search uses MySQL database, web interface needs a web server with PHP >= 4.0.3 and the crawler needs some perl modules.
The crawler (ffsearch.pl) crawls the network (FTP servers from the list and all reachable SMB hosts on the local network) and stores the information about files into database. It is invoked at certain times each day via crontab entries.
There are two modes of operation of the crawler: complete crawl and incremental crawl. The crawler expects a command line argument that tells crawler which mode to run (-c or --complete for complete crawl, -i or --incremental for incremental crawl). Both modes retrieve a list of the active SMB hosts in all workgroups.
The complete crawl tries to scan all active hosts and all hosts that are listed in database. The complete crawl should be run once a day.
The incremental crawl tries to scan active hosts and hosts listed in database that have not been scanned since the last complete crawl because they were unreachable. The incremental crawl should be run several times a day, for example each 3 hours.
How does the crawler get know whether the host has been crawled since the last complete crawl?
Each time the complete crawl is executed, the expire count is incremented first. When the host is crawled, expire count is set to zero. So all hosts whose expire count > 0 were not reachable since the last complete crawl. Moreover, when expire count reaches value specified in configuration (i.e. it was unreachable during the time period of complete crawls) the information about files on the "expired" host is deleted from database.
Web interface is used to search the files in database, details how to search are described in the Help section of the search page.
You can also add a FTP server to a FTP server list, edit FTP server in the list or delete FTP server from the list through the web interface. So that anybody could not do anything with the server list only the record about abcdef is editable from host abcdef. There are also admins who can edit all records in the server list. The admins login through the web interface.
Enhancements:
- fixed few bugs in the crawler
- added a possibility to exclude some SMB shares
- www: improved Russian and Ukrainian translation

mjhservers 200703101548

mjhservers 200703101548

mjhservers is a project which consists of event-driven servers for FTP, POP3, LMTP, TACACS+, and others. more>>
mjhservers is a project which consists of event-driven servers for FTP, POP3, LMTP, TACACS+, and others.
mjhservers is a set of highly configurable event-driven servers for FTP, POP3, LMTP, TACACS+, and other protocols. These servers feature a modular authentication sub-system, SSL, and IPv6 support, and are very scalable and efficient.
The software should compile out of the box for recent versions of Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD and Solaris.
Daemons provided by "mjhservers":
- spawnd is a broker with load-balancing functionality that listens for incoming connections on IP, UNIX or possibly IPv6 sockets, accepts them and finally forwards them (using ancillary messages over UNIX domain sockets) to the spawned server processes.
- ftpd is a highly configurable event-driven FTP daemon with TLS/SSL and IPv6 support, and much more.
- pop3d is an event-driven POP3 daemon. The manual has a short description on required Postfix patches, too (alas, these are quite out of date, and may or may not apply cleanly to current versions).
- lmtpd is an event-driven LMTP daemon, useful only in conjunction with pop3d.
- mavis and mavisd implement the modular authentication sub-system used by ftpd, pop3d et al.
- mod_auth_mavis is an Apache module for MAVIS based authentication.
- tac_plus is an event-driven TACACS+ daemon which utilizes the MAVIS backend for authentication and authorization (and may get its user data from LDAP, a suitable minimalistic tacacs.schema for OpenLDAP is included).
- tcprelay is an event-driven TCP connection forwarder.
- tcpmapd is an experimental daemon that interfaces the MAVIS system to Postfix.
