oftpd 0.3.7

oftpd 0.3.7

oftpd provides yet another anonymous FTP server. more>>
oftpd provides yet another anonymous FTP server.
oftpd is designed to be as secure as an anonymous FTP server can possibly be.
It runs as non-root for most of the time, and uses the Unix chroot() command to hide most of the systems directories from external users--they cannot change into them even if the server is totally compromised.
It also contains its own directory-change and directory-listing code (most FTP servers execute the system "ls" command to list files).
Enhancements:
- Philippe Oechslin discovered a DoS vulnerability. - Fixed

TNV 0.3.7

TNV 0.3.7

TNV depicts network traffic by visualizing packets and links between local and remote hosts. more>>
TNV stands for The Network Visualizer or Time-based Network Visualizer and depicts network traffic by visualizing packets and links between local and remote hosts.
TNV is intended for network traffic analysis to facilitate learning what constitutes normal activity on a network, investigating packet details security events, or network troubleshooting. TNV can open saved libpcap (from tcpdump, windump, ethereal, etc.) formatted files or capture live packets on the wire, and export data in libpcap format or save the data to a MySQL database to enable examining trends over time.
The main visualization shows remote hosts along the left side and a reorderable matrix of local hosts on the right, with links drawn between them. The local host matrix shows aggregated packet activity as background color, and shows network packets as triangles, with the point representing the directionality of the packet. Packets and links are color coded to protocol, and the user can optionally show the flags for TCP packets.
By selecting a cell within the matrix, representing a local host for a certain time period, the user can show either the packet details or the port activity related to that host. The main interaction mechanism for moving through the data is a scrollbar that sets the viewable selection, while at the same time showing areas of relative network activity in a bar graph - providing an overview of the entire data set with a more detailed display in the main visualization.
Enhancements:
- External data tools for doing URL queries or running scripts.
- Improved error handling.
- A potential capture dialog fix for Linux.
- A universal binary of the jpcap library for Mac PPC and Intel.

pam_imap 0.3.7

pam_imap 0.3.7

pam_imap is a PAM module that authenticates against a remote IMAP or IMAPS server. more>>
pam_imap is a PAM module that authenticates against a remote IMAP or IMAPS server.
pam_imap program supports multiple servers, SSL, password caching, user blacklists (for admin users), and many configuration abilities.
Examples of recommended use:
1) A lab of UNIX/Linux machines that would require an easily accessible password database from an IMAP server
2) Authenticating users against a centralized password server that you have no control over, and it conveniently has an IMAP server. (The arms-tied-behind-your-back scenario)
3) Authenticating with applications that do not run as root. (Apache is a good example -- read user-testimonials below)
4) An IMAP cluster authentication relay -- pam-imap can be used for a cheap IMAP cluster solution. Have one or two master IMAP servers that have a username/password database (be it LDAP, shadow, etc) and an IMAP server. Have several cluster node servers to handle the bandwidth of client requests , and use pam-imap on each node to authenticate against the master server(s). (The node machines will use pam-imap in their imap service file)
Tie everything together with round-robin DNS and NFS mail folders, and you have yourself an IMAP cluster!
Main features:
- User BlockList: Allows pam-imap to ignore authenticating users such as root, apache, and others.
- Password caching: Possibly usefull in situations where network connections are slow, or server loads are high. Has a few security risks however. Checkout the README file for more info.
- Support for username@domain.com style logins. With Micro$oft style IMAP servers, the "@domain.com" can be appended to the UNIX username for easy compatability.
- Customizable "Password: " string... You could change it to anything! Maybe, "IMAP Password: " The possibilities are endless.

OST-Box 0.3.7

OST-Box 0.3.7

OST-Box is (yet another) set-top box program. more>>
OST-Box is (yet another) set-top box program. OST-Boxs goal is to give an easy access to all kind of media and to be easy to extend.
It has an open design : The program itself is mainly a xml/javascript browser. Also, most content is provided via small perl scripts, which are easier to tune to your needs.
Xml introduce a distinction between the interface and the code.
Javascript is a powerfull language when it comes to write lots of simple functionnality.
Perl is very usefull to gather all kind of information (MP3 titles, TV program, detect system configuration, meteo, ...)
Main features:
- Browsing photo collection, with thumbs, zoom, rotations
- Play video clip within your photo collection (with mplayer installed)
- Browsing videos recorded from TV and start them with mplayer...
- Control from a lirc remote is working. Youll have to adjust interface/map.xml to configure your remote key.
- OST-box has multiple language support. Currently, english and french are available.
- It should be easy to add a new language. Have a look into src/interface/ostbox-i18n.xml if you want to help !

BitTornado 0.3.17

BitTornado 0.3.17

BitTornado is a torrent downloader for Linux. more>>
BitTornado is a torrent downloader for Linux.
BitTorrent is a tool for distributing files. BitTornado is extremely easy to use and downloads are started by clicking on hyperlinks. Whenever more than one person is downloading at once they send pieces of the file(s) to each other, thus relieving the central servers bandwidth burden.
Even with many simultaneous downloads, the upload burden on the central server remains quite small, since each new downloader introduces new upload capacity.
Enhancements:
- T-0.3.16 was a huge success; the crashing bug seems to have been squashed flat, thank you so very much wxWidgets and wxPython. As a result, after a few very minor changes, here is T-0.3.17, a new stable release. This replaces the rather archaic T-0.3.7 as the latest stable version.
