Psunami Bulletin Board 0.5.3
Psunami Bulletin Board is an Open Source alternative to the popular Ultimate Bulletin Board software. more>>
Psunami Bulletin Board is an Open Source alternative to the popular Ultimate Bulletin Board software, and aims for speed, ease of use, and a full feature set.
For installation, do the following:
1)Recursively copy everything from ./cgi-bin/ into your servers cgi-bin/ directory.
2)Recursively chown (chown -R) the psunami/ directory to the user that your web server uses (www-data on Debian, nobody on Slack, httpd on RHat-based systems (Ive been told that it is nobody on someRHat systems), wwwrun on SuSE. Anyone know what it is for others?) If you are unable to chown (eg. you are not the superuser) then make sure it is all readable/writable by the user (777 works, but is probably much too generous). Also do this to the psunami.conf file in cgi-bin.
3)Make psunami.cgi, psunami_admin.cgi, and psunami_moderate.cgi executable by the user that your web server uses. (chmod u+x *.cgi)
4)Change the paths to your perl executable if necessary. The paths are at the top of psunami.cgi, psunami_moderate.pl, and psunami_admin.cgi and default to /usr/bin/perl. Type which perl at a command prompt if you dont know where the executable is.
5)Run psunami_admin.cgi and create a new board. The initial login is psunami and the password is bulletin (no quotes).
6)Make sure that your mail program is configured properly in the preferences. It defaults to /usr/bin/sendmail.
7)Once you have created an account for yourself and given it admin rights, make sure you delete the psunami user.

Arabica January 2007
Arabica is a C++ XML parser toolkit that has a full SAX2 implementation. more>>
Arabica is a C++ XML parser toolkit that has a full SAX2 implementation (the Simple API for XML), including the optional interfaces and helper classes. It also implements the W3C DOM (Document Object Model) Level 2.0 Core, together with XPath 1.0.
It delivers UTF-8 encoded std::strings or UCS-2 std::wstrings, but can also accommodate custom string types and alternative encodings. Arabica provides uniform SAX2 wrappers for the expat parser, Xerces, libxml, and the Microsoft XML parser COM component.
Enhancements:
- Further improvements were made to the configure system.
- The build can now be configured without the Boost libraries, in which case the XPath components are skipped.
- Parser detection is improved, as is detecting the correct libraries for sockets.
- TreeWalker and NodeFilter were added.
- MSXML version checking was beefed up.
- Buffering in convertstream was reworked to reduce the number of dynamic allocations.
- LexicalHandler and DeclHandler are promoted to be part of the XMLReader interface.

PyVISA 1.1
PyVISA is a Python package which provides support for the Virtual Instrument Software Architecture. more>>
The programming of measurement instruments can be real pain. There are many different protocols, sent over many different interface and bus systems. For every programming language you want to use, you have to find libraries that support both your device and its bus system.
In order to ease this unfortunate situation, the VISA [1] specification was defined in the middle of the 90ies. Today VISA is implemented on all significant operating systems. A couple of vendors offer VISA libraries, albeit mostly in binary form.
These libraries work together with arbitrary peripherical devices, although they may be limited to certain interface devices, such as the vendors GPIB card. Virtual Instrument Software Architecture
The VISA specification has explicit bindings to Visual Basic, C, and G (LabVIEWs graphical language). However, you can use VISA with any language capable of calling functions in a DLL. Python is such a language.
PyVISA project is a VISA binding for Python. In relies on an external library file that you can download from your interface vendors web pages (National Instruments, Agilent, etc). PyVISA implements a convenient and Pythonic access to this library in two layers:
1. First, there is the lower level vpp43, which directly calls the VISA functions from Python. See the PyVISA low-level implementation for more information.
2. On top of it, an object-oriented Python module has been created called visa simply. In case of doubt, use visa because it is easier and more convenient. vpp43 is only for people who need full control or the official VISA functions for some reason. See the PyVISA manual for more information.
Enhancements:
- PyVISA can now cope with older VISA implementations, too.
