OpenJigsaw project is a jigsaw puzzle game.

OpenJigsaw is a simple puzzle game that takes any image you give it, chops it into a number of puzzle pieces, and lets you reassemble it.

No images are included in the zip files, but Im sure you can find something. If you happen to know any images that are in the public domain and would make good jigsaw puzzles, mail me so I can include them with the program.

Gigsaw 0.2.1

Gigsaw 0.2.1

Gigsaw project is a jigsaw puzzle game in Gtk+. more>>
Gigsaw project is a jigsaw puzzle game in Gtk+.

The simplest way to compile this package is:

1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself.

Running `configure takes awhile. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.

2. Type `make to compile the package.

3. Optionally, type `make check to run any self-tests that come with the package.

4. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.

5. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean. To also remove the files that `configure created (so you can compile the package for a different kind of computer), type `make distclean. There is also a `make maintainer-clean target, but that is intended mainly for the packages developers. If you use it, you may have to get all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came with the distribution.

Memonix 1.6

Memonix 1.6

Memonix game features a wonderful collection of four brain twisters, including Mosaic, Builder, Pair and Jigsaw. more>>
Memonix game features a wonderful collection of four brain twisters, including Mosaic, Builder, Pair and Jigsaw. While being amazingly addictive and fun to play, these games can be used to improve your childs memory, brainpower, thinking and reaction. Five difficulty levels from normal to obscene plus the timer mean that the challenge will never run away. Joyful music and brightly-colored visuals maximize the excitement from the gameplay. To test the benefits of these games, you can free download and play a trial version.

Memonix features a pick-up-and-play interface that will take children little time to learn and start playing without their parents guidance. Another good thing about Memonix is the availability of countless addons for all four games. They can be downloaded online for free without even leaving the game environment.

Mosaic. In Mosaic, the players objective is to memorize the position of different objects such as triangles, squares, and mugs scattered on the playfield and, after short viewing, reassemble the same pattern. When the player goes one level up, the complexity of the game increases. On the easiest level, the objects are arranged symmetrically so, the player needs to remember only half of the playfield. However, on the most difficult level, the player has to memorize not only position, but color of each object.

Builder. For all its seeming similarity to the previous puzzle, Builder has a slightly different objective – to view an image of a house and, then, reassemble the image by piecing up tiles with various house parts.

Pair. While Builder develops child’s memory and logic thinking, the third game - Pair puts more emphasis on the development of the visual memory. Here, the player must uncover and match two similar objects on the covered playfield.

Jigsaw. In Jigsaw, the player meets a classic jigsaw puzzle gameplay in its purest form where the objective is to reassemble a picture from scattered image tiles.

Picpuz 0.10

Picpuz 0.10

Picpuz is a jigsaw puzzle: create from any image file, move pieces with the mouse. more>>
Picpuz is a jigsaw puzzle: create from any image file, move pieces with the mouse.

Picpuz is an on-screen "jigsaw puzzle". You can take almost any image file and break it into many pieces which you can then reassemble using the mouse.

You can control the size of the puzzle and the number of pieces (tens to thousands). You can save an unfinished puzzle and resume it later.

Installation

The following procedure is illustrative only. Many variations are possible.

01. download the tarball: picpuz.xxx.tar.gz
02. choose a directory (this example: /usr/picpuz)
03. $ su root # get root privileges
04. $ mkdir /usr/picpuz # create directory
05. $ mv picpuz.xx.tar.gz /usr/picpuz # move tarball into directory
06. $ cd /usr/picpuz # change to directory
07. $ tar -xzf picpuz.xx.tar.gz # unpack tarball in directory
08. $ ./picpuz-build.sh # rebuild executable
09. $ chown root:root * # set root owner for all files
10. $ chmod o+x picpuz.x # allow all users to run picpuz.x

The executable should now be available for any user: $ /usr/picpuz/picpuz.x
The executable may run without rebuilding if your Linux system has compatible libraries. If it does not run, use the build script (as shown above) to build a compatible version for your system. Recent versions of the Gnu C++ compiler and GTK2 libraries are required. If either is missing, look in your package manager for g++ and libgtk2.0-dev. They should be available, even if your system is KDE based. If the above names dont work, search for packages having the files /usr/bin/g++ and /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0

KSudoku 0.4

KSudoku 0.4

KSudoku is a Sudoku puzzle generator and solver for KDE. more>>
KSudoku project can generate and solve sudoku puzzles (of different difficulty level) using a randomized least-candidate algorithm.
The sudoku boards currently supported are 9x9 and 16x16: but the program is fully expandable since the algorithm is extendible to any general graph coloring problem (the board is in fact stored as a graph and the numbers are the colors)
In order to create a playable puzzle it fills a blank sudoku grid with a completed puzzle (randomly), then another algorithm (to be improved with some logical constraint) removes randomly numbers from it checking each time that the resultant puzzle has only one solution: it is a bit slower than logic-based elimination tecniques but it creates puzzles that are less straight-solved (more fun).
The GUI is user-friendly and requires KDE. Written in C++.
INSTALLATION
1. Open a shell in project directory (the one where this file is located)
2. Run "./configure"
(will install the program in /usr/local/kde, if you want to install in /usr run "./configure --prefix=/usr")
3. Run "make"
4. Run "make install" as root.
5. Run "ksudoku" (if does not start check point 2)
Enhancements:
- Added support for custom shaped sudokus
- Samurai sudoku
- Jigsaw sudoku, XSudoku, 4x4
- Undo/redo
- Added new export system (you can print multiple puzzles in the same page)
- File format is now XML
- Added new welcomescreen and settings dialog
- Internal structure changed

KPuzzle 0.4

KPuzzle 0.4

KPuzzle is a jigsaw puzzle game for KDE 3. more>>
KPuzzle is a jigsaw puzzle game for the KDE environment. The current version is based on KDE 3 and QT 3, so it should work with every minor release of KDE 3 and QT 3. There are no dependencies on other libraries or programs.
KPuzzle allows various ways of playing the game, as well as various difficulty levels. You can use the pictures delivered with KPuzzle, but you may play with every picture you wish, of course.
Furthermore, there are some picture sets which you can download separately.
Main features:
- Possibility of using every picture without restrictions
- Full saving/loading support
- Internationalization/localization support
- Various types of playing and various levels of difficulty
KPuzzle allows you five game type settings:
- Standard: There is nothing special about it, just solve the game before your time runs out.
- Piece-Time: You have a certain time to position every piece. When the time runs out for this piece, it will not be shown in the piece list any more, and you will not be able to finish the game.
- Faults-Count: You have only got a certain number of trials to position your piece. When the counter of tolerated faults for one piece has reached zero, the piece will no more appear in the piece list (as above).
- Global-Faults: There exists a global counter of the faults you have made.
- Unbearable: You have got a certain time to put any piece at its position, but the piece shown changes automatically! Every not-yet-placed piece will appear a certain number of times (which depends on the overall difficulty setting).
KPuzzle is delivered with various pictures and photos, but you are strongly encouraged to use every picture you like.
Enhancements:
- KPuzzle now works with KDE 3, minor bugfixes
