POT 1.3

POT 1.3

The goal of Pot (PHP Object Template) is to totally divide the logic of a Web site from the design. more>>
The goal of Pot (PHP Object Template) is to totally divide the logic of a Web site from the design. Pot can be used by "common" people just by writing some XML tags in the HTML code.
The project supports technologies like Cascading Style Sheets, JavaScript, animated objects, and form data checking. Using your favourite WYSIWYG editor (like Dreamweaver or GoLive), you can create HTML pages where you place a tag wherever you need and write the required Pot parameter and value tags. There are 41 objects ready to be used.
Enhancements:
- This release has some bugfixes and initial support for AJAX (Javascript and DOM management).

PhpWiki 1.3.14

PhpWiki 1.3.14

PhpWiki is a WikiWikiWeb clone written in PHP. more>>
PhpWiki is a WikiWikiWeb clone written in PHP. A Wiki is a Web site where anyone can edit or create the pages through the Web browser, with no authentication.
PhpWiki works right out of the box with zero configuration, and comes with a set of default pages.
PhpWiki is useful for collaborating on documentation on a project, having freeform discussions, and easy editing and searching.
A WikiWikiWeb is a web site where anyone can edit the pages through an HTML form. Linking is done automatically on the server side; all pages are stored in a database.
This may sound rather simplistic, but a Wiki is a very unique way to collaborate on the Web.
The addictive quality of a Wiki is that making pages is as simple as making a link to them. If they dont yet exist, the page link will be followed by a hyperlinked question mark; follow that link and you can define the new page.
Enhancements:
- Fix the broken LDAP fix from 1.3.13p1
- fixed sortby with multiple pagelists changes:
- changes all themeinfo.php files, moved global to method load() to be easier derived from custom theme classes, main now calls $WikiTheme->load
- MailNotify is now silent unless DEBUG new:
- added experimental ATOM support
- added Changes and Upload button to edit

phpWebApp 1.3

phpWebApp 1.3

phpWebApp is an application framework which makes easy and simple the task of building PHP web applications. more>>
phpWebApp is an application framework which makes easy and simple the task of building PHP web applications based on relational databases. It separates the task of designing and changing the layout of the application from the task of implementing the logic of the application, by using XML templates that are an extension of XHTML.
The project also simplifies the task of implementing the logic of the application by offering an event based programming model. In addition, phpWebApp tries to offer modularity and code reusability to the community of webApp developers.
Main features:
- The framework separates the layout from the logic of the application, so a graphical designer can easily improve the layout of the application without getting messed with the logic and without having to understand it. It makes easier the work of both the graphical designer and the programer. This also facilitates an iterative and incremental development approach for web application projects.
- The framework gives the possibility to divide a page into several parts which can be used in other pages as well. This makes the user interface of the application (the layout, the graphical part) more structured and easier to understand and maintain and makes easier the work of the graphical designer.
- The framework looks at web applications from a new point of view. From this point of view, a web application is a state machine, which can be represented and described by one or more statechart diagrams. Each page of the application that is displayed, represents the application in a certain state. Clicking to a link causes a transition to another state of the application. This simplifies the design and the implementation of web applications. Later, if this point of view is formalised and elaborated enough, it may provide the theoretical bases for automatic code generation of web applications from state chart diagrams (e.g. from UML state chart diagrams), and for reverse engineering.
- The framework supports an event based programing model. When a transition from one state of the application to another happens, it may trigger an event as well, which is handled by a function (event handler). This makes the logic of the application easy to build, understand and maintain, and makes easy the work of the web programer.
- The framework gives to the web programers the possibility to create independent web components (called WebBox-es) which have their own user interface (graphical design), client side behaviour, server side behaviour, states, events, event handlers, etc. These components can be very easily reused in other web applications and thus provide code reusability to web programers. This means that if you have constructed something once, you dont have to re-construct it again when you need it another time, but use it ready.
- The framework brings closer the client-side and the server-side logic of a web application. E.g. the session variables (which are usually used to keep the state of various parts of the application), are available and can be accessed both on client side and on server side.
- The framework makes the interaction with the database almost database independent. This means that in case that you decide to change the database on which your application is based (e.g. switching from MySQL to Oracle), then the application itself doesnt need to be changed at all, it will work all the same.
Enhancements:
- Bugfixes and some improvements in documentation were made.

aewm 1.3.1

aewm is a minimalist window manager for X11. more>>
aewm is a minimalist window manager for X11. It has no nifty features, but is light on resources and extremely simple in appearance.
It should eventually make a good reference implementation of the ICCCM. A few separate programs are included to handle running programs, switching between windows, etc.
aewm was based on 9wm, which has also inspired lwm, larswm, and w9wm. It has in turn inspired the following window managers:
Sapphire/aewm++ (defunct?)
alloywm
evilwm
maewm (defunct?)
Oroborus
phluid
swm
Clementine
WindowLab
YeahWM
Spook (defunct?)
wimpwm

wbar 1.3.1

wbar 1.3.1

wbar is a quick launch bar recommended for fluxbox or Window Maker. more>>
wbar is a quick launch bar recommended for fluxbox or Window Maker. wbars goal is speed.
This is eye candy developed in C++. The motivation is eye-candy which runs as fast as possible but still it probably made faster.
Tested succesfully on Fluxbox, WindowMaker.
Can be tweaked for other window managers but those who usualy use a desktop application such as nautilus will obscure Warbar because it runs with override-redirection so the window manager doesnt do the decorations and stays at the bottom of root window.
Installation:
- Needs imlib2
# make
create initial config for user (should make config with each user)
# make config
as root (if you dont have a bin directory at home)
# make install
warbar --help
Enhancements:
- Expansion now occurs on entering and leaving the bar.
- Better cleaning and drawing algorithms were implemented.

HistView 0.1.3

HistView 0.1.3

HistView takes an ASCII changelog as input and outputs a formatted HTML page. more>>
HistView application takes an ASCII changelog as input and outputs a formatted HTML page.

When developing some piece of software, one usually records its development history in an ASCII file, preceding all changes with a "hint" of the kind of change - such as an "+" for a new addition, or a "!" for a bug fix. After a while, one decides to release the package. And a while later the question arises, how to present the latest changes to users who wish to see the list of changes first to decide whether its worth to update. At this moment, one can just place the plain text file somewhere accessible on the net - but wouldnt it look smarter to have it formatted as a nice HTML document? If you would like this, but dont want to waste time rewriting the history in HTML, HistView ist for you: it just reads in the history file, and formats it in HTML. Provided you use a style similiar to what I do.

UpYours! 0.1.3

UpYours! provides a simple file upload cgi-bin that can be used instead of FTP. more>>
UpYours! provides a simple file upload cgi-bin that can be used instead of FTP.

Sometimes, you just need to upload a file and you dont have your crypto bits handy. In this day and age, people should always use scp (or pscp.exe) to copy files around, but users are users, and even clueful people sometimes find themselves in a position where its not easy, convenient or even possible to use anything but a stupid web interface (a kiosk on a conference floor for example).

UpYours! is a simple solution to this problem. The idea is to provide a way for file uploads to occur that:

(a) doesnt leak information about the server to the (potentially malicious) client;
(b) does not present anything useful to people who want to use the server as a drop-point for files;
(c) does not open the server up to DoS attacks;
(d) is simple to use, and can be deployed over http and https;
(e) does not force the client to reveal any secret information

Dupseek 1.3

Dupseek 1.3

Dupseek is a command-line interactive perl program to find and remove duplicate files. more>>
Dupseek is a command-line interactive perl program to find and remove duplicate files.
A few strategies are possible for finding duplicate files in a big set, such as a heavily populated directory.
One of the most widely used consists of grouping files by size (because files of different size cant be identical) and then computing a short digital fingerprint (such as a md5 checksum) for the files.
Files with a different fingerprint are different, and files with the same digital fingerprint are very probably the same. Just to be sure, one can further check possible duplicates.
Main features:
- It starts by grouping files by size.
- Then it starts reading small chunks of the files of the same size and comparing them. It creates smaller groups depending on these comparisons.
- It goes on with bigger and bigger chunks (of size up to a hard-coded limit).
- It stops reading from files as soon as they form a single-element group or they are read completely (which only happens when they have a very high probability of having duplicates).
This algorithm is much more efficient than competitors when dealing with large files of the same size. When files differ, reading usually stops after very few reads.
Dupseek (and destroy) can be interrupted at any moment. The user is then presented with partial results and can either intervene manually or go on with the reading and computation, on a group-by-group basis. Since subsequent reads happen sparsely in the file, if some files are still in the same group after many iterations, they are most probably identical, unless the differences are very small.
