Web Submission and Review Software 0.53
Web Submission and Review Software is a Web-based system that is used for the submission and review of papers. more>>
Web Submission and Review Software is a Web-based system that is used for the submission and review of papers to academic conferences. Web Submission and Review Software provides support for the entire life-cycle of the conference review process.
One of the goals of this software was to make administration as easy as possible. In particular, you never need to run scripts etc. In principle, to install this software you just unpack the zip file in some directory in your web tree (call it the BASE directory), point your browser at that directory and off you go.
I will very much appreciate any comments that you can give me regarding this software.
Enhancements:
Changes to chair/administrator interface:
- Added Undo/Redo link to the administration page
- Re-implemented the voting mechanism to allow multiple concurrent ballots
- Let the chair play with assignments of submissions to reviewers before these assignments are visible to the reviewers
- Let the chair manage PC membership, Edit review guidelines and setup votes also during the submission phase
Changes to reviewer interface:
- Allow reviewers to login to the site (and vote in ballots if any) also during the submission phase
- Added support for batch upload of reviews in a scorecard file
- Backup old versions of reviews and let reviewers browse the old versions of their reviews (this is useful, e.g., if they overwite somethign by mistake)

ZoneMinder 10152006 (ViewMAX)
ZoneMinder is a suite of applications intended for use in video camera security applications. more>>
ZoneMinder is a suite of applications intended for use in video camera security applications, including theft prevention and child or family member monitoring. The project supports capture, analysis, recording, and monitoring of video data coming from one or more video or network cameras attached to a Linux system.
It also features a user-friendly Web interface which allows viewing, archival, review, and deletion of images and movies captured by the cameras. The image analysis system is highly configurable, permitting retention of specific events, while eliminating false positives.
ZoneMinder supports both directly connected and network cameras and is built around the definition of a set of individual zones of varying sensitivity and functionality for each camera. This allows the elimination of regions which should be ignored or the definition of areas which will alarm if various thresholds are exceeded in conjunction with other zones. All management, control, and other functions are supported through the Web interface.

Flawfinder 1.27
Flawfinder searches through source code looking for potential security flaws. more>>
Flawfinder searches through source code looking for potential security flaws. This is the main web site for flawfinder, a program that examines source code and reports possible security weaknesses (``flaws) sorted by risk level. Its very useful for quickly finding and removing at least some potential security problems before a program is widely released to the public. See ``how does Flawfinder work?, below, for more information on how it works.
Flawfinder is specifically designed to be easy to install and use. After installing it, in a text terminal just type:
flawfinder directory_with_source_code
Flawfinder works on Unix-like systems today (its been tested on GNU/Linux), and it should be easy to port to Windows systems. It requires Python 1.5 or greater to run (Python 1.3 or earlier wont work).
Enhancements:
- The ability to review only the changes to a program was added.
- Other minor improvements and bugfixes were made.

Forrest 0.7
Apache Forrest is a publishing framework that transforms input from various sources into a unified presentation. more>>
Apache Forrest is a publishing framework that transforms input from various sources into a unified presentation in one or more output formats.
The modular and extensible plugin architecture is based on Apache Cocoon and relevant standards, which separates presentation from content.
Forrest can generate static documents, be used as a dynamic server, or be deployed by its automated facility.
Forrest is designed with the new user in mind. Much effort has gone into making the process of generating a new site easy and simple:
Step 1: Do forrest seed to populate the directory with template site structure and contents.
Step 2: Add content by editing docs in task-specific, presentation-neutral XML.
Step 3: Do forrest run then use the web browser to immediately review changes at http://localhost:8888/
Step 4: Do forrest to generate the complete website from the XML sources. Various styles (known as skins) are available. Custom skins can be developed.
Step 5: For more information about installation and use, see the Using Forrest guide.
Forrests focus on low "startup cost" makes it ideal for rapid development of small sites, where time and budget constraints do not allow time-wasting HTML experiments. Of course, that same methodology can scale up to large projects. Your development team does not need Java experience, or even XML skills, to use Forrest. The framework lets you concentrate on content and design.
By separating content from presentation, providing content templates and pre-written skins, Forrest is unequalled at enabling content producers to get their message out fast. This separation of concerns makes Forrest excellent to publish project documentation (notably software projects), intranets, and home pages, and anything else you can think of.
Forrest is far from a quick and dirty solution however. Forrest is built on the worlds leading XML application framework, Apache Cocoon, which provides advanced users with extremely powerful publishing capabilities.
* Multiple task-specific source XML formats can be used (How-To, FAQ, changelogs and todo lists supported natively). Source formats include: Apache xdocs xml format, plain html documents, some Wiki formats, a subset of DocBook, ...
* Multiple output formats supported, for example HTML and PDF (using Apache FOP).
* SVG to PNG rendering (using Apache Batik). Simply drop the SVG in the appropriate directory and it will be rendered as PNG.
* Transparent inclusion and aggregation of external content, like RSS feeds.
* Anything else possible with the Cocoon sitemap. Using database queries, charting, web services integration; the possibilities are constantly growing as Cocoon grows. See the Cocoon Features list for the full suite of capabilities.
* Based on Java and XML standards, Forrest is platform-independent, making for a documentation system that is just as portable as the XML data that it processes.
Unique amongst comparable documentation tools, Forrest generates sites that can run both interactively as a dynamic web application, or as statically rendered pages.
This provides a path for site growth: start off small and static, and if dynamic features (user login, forms processing, runtime data, site search etc) are one day needed, these can be accommodated by switching to webapp mode.
Running as a webapp has a major advantage during development: content can be written, and then the rendered output viewed almost instantly in a web browser. This webapp technique enables Forrests edit/review cycle to be faster than command-line transformation tools.

If you are reading this source, it is what should have been an internal release and consequently has a few comments at the head of the file which would not normally be here. Most likely I must have released this in a hurry because someone needed some
recent feature that has been added, before I had time to do a periodic code review and tidy-up. If this is your first time looking at or installing this code you should probably get in
touch with the author (gtoal@gtoal.com) and ask for a cleaner version before you start.
The descriptive comments which explain what this program does, and how, have slowly migrated from being at the top of the file to being lost half way down. That is something which will be done in the next maintenance release.
But this version *does* work, and works very well now. It is in service at the University of Texas Pan American, with 2000 staff and 15,000 students (although not all of those are active emailers -maybe only 2000-3000 are in heavy use. It sometimes looks like
AOL and MSN and Yahoo are the official campus mailers.

ClanWar Planner :: Leaque 0.1
ClanWar Planner :: Leaque project is a Clan War league administration tool. more>>
ClanWar Planner :: Leaque project is a Clan War league administration tool.
It allows the subscribed clans to challenge each other.
It currently supports a ladder but will be extended to a complete tournament system.
It can be used for any game currently played on the Internet and features an advanced access logging facility, on-site statistics, support for many games, an advanced administration system, and different access levels for users.
Version restrictions:
- This is an unstable release which has not yet implemented all the features.
- It is recommended to use onle by developers that are interested in the functioning of it.
- It is absolutely not to be used by end-users since its yet unfinished and may lead to some problems because of missing features (the administration is not yet implemented and the only way to administer it is by using the direct manipulation of the database).
- It is however a good base to add new features easily.
- But why did you publish it then? Well it is mainly because Im currently working on the smaller version (CWPlaner::Clan), since I ran into serious problems (mainly time issues) while developing CWPlaner::Leaque. And I thought it would be a shame to waste the whole work I and Eyeball spent in developing the system.
- I therefore publish it for other developers as a base or reference for their own projects.
- When the first release of CWPlaner::Clan is out I will surely have enough time to review the entire code and the development of CWPlaner::Leaque will go on, so stay tuned :)

OpenSubsystems 1.0 RC3
OpenSubsystems is set of business components such as inventory management. more>>
OpenSubsystemss goal is to provide consistent set of business components that solve particular area of interest such as inventory management, order processing, shopping, email and fax communication, document management, imaging and others.
There are many frameworks and libraries attempting to make life of developers easier. Most of them focus on improving certain technology (EJB) or technical problem such as persistence in Java (Hibernate) or view tier for web applications (Struts).
There are very few that actually give developers fully functional business components that are immediately available to be integrated into their application and solve specific business needs. OpenSubsystems is one of them.
OpenSubsystems is dedicated to providing highest quality products by paying attention to innovative design, carefull implementation and thorough testing while staying true to the spirit of open source.
All our development processes and products are extensively documented and available for review and use to wide audience of business analysts, developers and testers.
