Request Tracker 3.6.1

Request Tracker 3.6.1

Request Tracker is a web, command-line, and email-based trouble ticketing and bugtracking package. more>>
Request Tracker (RT) is an enterprise-grade ticketing system which enables a group of people to intelligently and efficiently manage tasks, issues, and requests submitted by a community of users.
The RT platform has been under development since 1996, and is used by systems administrators, customer support staffs, IT managers, developers and marketing departments at thousands of sites around the world.
Written in object-oriented Perl, RT is a high-level, portable, platform independent system that eases collaboration within organizations and makes it easy for them to take care of their customers.
RT manages key tasks such as the identification, prioritization, assignment, resolution and notification required by enterprise-critical applications including project management, help desk, NOC ticketing, CRM and software development.
RT is used by Fortune 100 companies, government agencies, educational institutions, and development organizations worldwide.
Main features:
- RT is your organizations focal point for tracking tasks, issues, knowledge, and collaboration.
- Its easy to submit, assign, prioritize, search, escalate, and report on issues.
- RT keeps track of each tickets full history and metadata to help your organization better retain knowledge and analyze trends.
- RT can track multiple projects for multiple teams within a single installation.
- RT tracks critical system metadata, including time spent per action, due dates, and estimated time to completion.
- Its easy to record private comments that are not available to end-users.
- RTs web interface comes complete with an intuitive "iterative" search interface that allows end users to construct complex queries by pointing and clicking within their web browsers.
- Users can save and edit queries later, using their browsers "bookmarks" feature.
- Users dont need to do anything special -- they can just send email to RT. RT will take care of thanking them for their message, automatically routing it to the appropriate staff, and making sure all future correspondence gets to the right place.
- RT provides a simple, self-service interface that allows end users to view their own active and resolved tickets online.
- RTs web interface is designed to be easy to use from any browser. Just working in Internet Explorer and Netscape isnt enough. Your staff need to be able to get work done anytime, anywhere.
- Whether you use Windows, MacOS or Unix, your staff already have everything they need to access RT.
- RT works great from a handheld or screen-reader (for the blind.) Best Practical is working with users to ensure that a future release is fully compliant with Section 508 accessibility requirements.
- A powerful new command-line interface that allows power users to quickly and easily work with RT, even if theyre out of the office is currently available for testing by the public.
- Youve got customers around the world. RT lets you interact with them in their own language. Internally, RT converts all data to UnicodeTM, so you can respond to users in their native tongue, but work in yours.
- Youve got staff around the globe. RTs web interface has been fully internationalized. Right now, RT speaks English, German, French, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Czech, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. Adding new languages is a breeze, if you need something RT doesnt support yet. On login, RT automatically detects which language each user prefers, so staff members can collaborate even if they speak different languages.
- Unlike costly proprietary issue tracking systems, an administrator can have a basic RT system up and running in an afternoon.
- RT is built to be useful right out of the box. You dont need expensive consultants
- Theres no client software to manage or keep up to date. Your existing web browser and email clients are all you need.
- RT is written in object-oriented perl. Not only do you get the complete source code to the product with every download, but your staff can begin customizing RT to meet your needs within hours.
- RTs web interface and mail gateway are built on top of the same API we publish for you to write your own tools on top of. The interface is documented and there are numerous third party tools to use as examples and templates.
- Every organization needs to track specialized data. RT lets you define list-based and freeform custom fields to help track your tickets. Once you create custom fields, its easy to search on them, just like RTs predefined fields.
- All of RTs mailing rules are based around a powerful custom business logic system called "Scrips." Scrips make it easy for a local administrator to make RT do ANYTHING whenever a ticket is created or updated, without making it hard to upgrade.
- RTs entire web interface is built on a flexible templating system that lets you build your own web-based tools or alter RTs look and feel to better fit your organization.
- If you dont want to radically change RTs interface, you can add your own components to RTs pages. A web callback system lets you drop miniature templates into RTs web pages.
- If you need even more power, "Code overlays" let you customize RTs internal behaviour without touching RTs core libraries.
Enhancements:
- This release includes numerous small cleanups and improvements.
- It fixes the dreaded "infinite relogin" bug.

ac3jack 0.1.2

ac3jack 0.1.2

ac3jack is a tool for creating an AC-3 (Dolby Digital) multichannel stream from its JACK input ports. more>>
ac3jack is a tool for creating an AC-3 (Dolby Digital) multichannel stream from its JACK input ports. Using this tool, an AC-3 stream (up to 5.1 channels) is created in real time and either written to a file or streamed to standard output.

When streamed to stdout and piped through the ALSA tool ac3dec -C, the AC-3 stream can be passed out the SPDIF port on your audio interface for connection to a multichannel surround receiver. In this way, you can achieve full 5.1 surround mixing and monitoring of your JACK applications with a single digital cable, and no need for hardware supporting discrete outputs and inputs.

AC-3 is a compressed audio format, so quality will suffer a little, but it is the price you pay for easy surround sound. After all, if it is good enough for DVD and film soundtracks, it must be OK. The AC-3 encoder used here comes from the FFMPEG project, and I have not done any quality comparisons with commercial encoders.

SafeCache 0.9

SafeCache is an extension which segments the cache on the basis of the document origin, defending against web-privacy attacks. more>>
SafeCache is an extension which segments the cache on the basis of the document origin, defending against web-privacy attacks.

Segments the cache on the basis of the originating document, defending against web privacy attacks that remote sites can use to determine your browser history at other sites.

For example, a b.com image appearing on an a.com page would have a separate cache entry from the same image appearing on a b.com page, so a.com cannot use timing techniques to determine if you have visited b.com before.

Checks cookie settings (allow, originating site only, deny) to determine your desired privacy level (segmented cache, cache originating site only, or never cache).

SafeHistory 0.8

SafeHistory is an extension that protects your privacy by silently defending against visited-link-based tracking techniques. more>>
SafeHistory is an extension that protects your privacy by silently defending against visited-link-based tracking techniques.

Restricts the marking of visited links on the basis of the originating document, defending against web privacy attacks that remote sites can use to determine your browser history at other sites.

A link on a.com pointing at b.com will only be marked visited if you previously visited the b.com page with a referrer in the domain of a.com.

On-site links work normally.

Checks cookie settings (allow, originating site only, deny) to determine your desired privacy level (segmented by origin, dont mark links visited in offsite frames, or never mark links visited).

jE6-B 0.3

jE6-B is an emulator of some of the functionality of the E6B Flight Computer. more>>
jE6-B project is an emulator of some of the functionality of the E6B Flight Computer.

This program was inspired by the similar application called Virtual E6-B written by Jesse Kempa. However that application does not seem to have been updated for some time and was based on Visual Basic, so is only for Windows (without emulation).

As I am a very keen Python user, I decided to write an Open Source Cross-Platform version of the features provided by this previous program in that language. This is my first open source project, so this program is very much a learning exercise for me. After a little playing with the various GUI toolkits available, I decided to write the program actually in Jython (a Java implementation of Python - see www.jython.org), which would make use of the Java Swing GUI toolset and also the cross-platform advantages offered by Java.

HTTP::Server::Simple::Mason 0.09

HTTP::Server::Simple::Mason 0.09

HTTP::Server::Simple::Mason is an abstract baseclass for a standalone mason server. more>>
HTTP::Server::Simple::Mason is an abstract baseclass for a standalone mason server.

SYNOPSIS

my $server = MyApp::Server->new();

$server->run;

package MyApp::Server;
use base qw/HTTP::Server::Simple::Mason/;

sub mason_config {
return ( comp_root => /tmp/mason-pages );
}

INTERFACE

See HTTP::Server::Simple and the documentation below.

mason_handler

Returns the servers HTML::Mason::CGIHandler object. The first time this method is called, it creates a new handler by calling new_handler.

handle_request CGI

Called with a CGI object. Invokes mason and runs the request

handle_error ERROR

If the call to handle_request dies, handle_error is called with the exception (that is, $@). By default, it does nothing; it can be overriden by your subclass.

new_handler

Creates and returns a new HTML::Mason::CGIHandler, with configuration specified by the default_mason_config and mason_config methods. You dont need to call this method yourself; mason_handler will automatically call it the first time it is called.

handler_class

Returns the name of the Mason handler class invoked in new_handler. Defaults to HTML::Mason::CGIHandler, but in your subclass you may wish to change it to a subclass of HTML::Mason::CGIHandler.

setup_escapes $handler

Sets up the Mason escapes for the handler $handler. For example, the h in

< % $name | h % >

By default, sets h to HTTP::Server::Simple::Mason::escape_utf8 and u to HTTP::Server::Simple::Mason::escape_uri, but you can override this in your subclass.
mason_config

Returns a subclass-defined mason handler configuration; you almost certainly want to override it and specify at least comp_root.

default_mason_config

Returns the default mason handler configuration (which can be overridden by entries in mason_config).

escape_utf8 SCALARREF

does a css-busting but minimalist escaping of whatever html youre passing in.

escape_uri SCALARREF

Escapes URI component according to RFC2396

userv 1.0.3

userv 1.0.3

userv is a tool for system administrators. more>>
userv is a tool for system administrators, who often find themselves with a program running as one user which needs to be able to do certain things as another user.
For example, my machines news system needs to scan my users newsrcs to ensure that the right newsgroups are fetched. Before userv that part of the news system had to run as root, and clumsily use `su.
It can be also a component for application authors. For example, imagine a version of `cron which didnt need to run as root, so that a security bug in cron would just mean that bad people could get cron jobs to run at the wrong times, rather than everyone on the system being able to break in completely. Imagine being able to do sophisticated mail filtering at delivery time without the mail transfer or delivery agents needing to be root.
Enhancements:
- Count -continued lines properly in error message line numbers.
- Fix lexing bugs with "-quoted strings and -continuation.
- Fix interpretation of n etc. in "-quoted strings.
- Fix bug which ignored erroneous read/write after ignore-fd/reject-fd.

Class::Accessor::Named 0.005

Class::Accessor::Named 0.005

Class::Accessor::Named is a great way to automate the tedious task of generating accessors and mutators. more>>
Class::Accessor::Named is a great way to automate the tedious task of generating accessors and mutators. One small drawback is that due to the details of the implemenetation, you only get one "__ANON__" entry in profiling output.

That entry contains all your accessors, which can be a real pain if youre attempting to figure out _ w_ h_ i_ c_ h of your accessors is being called six billion times.

This module is a development aid which uses Hook::LexWrap and Sub::Name to talk your accessors into identifying themselves. While it shouldnt add much additional runtime overhead (as it acts only Class::Accessors generator functions), it has not been designed for production deployment.

OpenPlugin::Application 0.11

OpenPlugin::Application 0.11

OpenPlugin::Application is a subclass of CGI::Application, meant to help you create reusable web applications. more>>
OpenPlugin::Application is a subclass of CGI::Application, meant to help you create reusable web applications.

SYNOPSIS

# Example from OpenThoughts Demo.pm

package Demo;
use base "OpenPlugin::Application";
sub setup {
my $self = shift;
$self->run_modes(

mode2 => get_os_list,

$self->start_mode( mode1 );
$self->mode_param(run_mode);
}
sub init_demo { ... }
sub get_os_list { ... }
sub get_os_info { ... }
1;

# Example from OpenThoughts demo.pl

#!/usr/bin/perl -wT
use strict;
my $r = shift;
my $demo = Demo->new( PARAMS => {
config => { src => "/path/to/OpenPlugin.conf" },
request => { apache => $r },
});

$demo->run();

OpenPlugin::Application is built on Jesse Erlbaums popular CGI::Application module. OpenPlugin::Application is simply a subclass of CGI::Application. Jesse says the following about CGI::Application:

"CGI::Application is intended to make it easier to create sophisticated, reusable web-based applications. This module implements a methodology which, if followed, will make your web software easier to design, easier to document, easier to write, and easier to evolve."

How does it do this? Jesse goes on to say:

"The guiding philosophy behind CGI::Application is that a web-based application can be organized into a specific set of "Run-Modes." Each Run-Mode is roughly analogous to a single screen (a form, some output, etc.). All the Run-Modes are managed by a single "Application Module" which is a Perl module. In your web servers document space there is an "Instance Script" which is called by the web server"

The biggest difference between CGI::Application and OpenPlugin::Application is that query object they both use; one is designed to use CGI.pm, the other OpenPlugin. Generally speaking, everything in the still applies. Any differences will be noted in this document.
It is not necessary to use OpenPlugin::Application in order to build web applications using OpenPlugin. This plugin is meant to be for your convenience -- to help you structure your web applications in a manner which makes sense, and is reusable.

Text::Convert::ToImage is a Perl module.

SYNOPSIS

my $length = length($email);
if ($length > 150) {
$email = "Your text length of $length is too large:";
}
my $config = {

XSKEW => $xskew,
YSKEW => $yskew,

};
$tti->calculate($config);
print "Content-type: image/pngnn";
binmode STDOUT;
$tti->Write(png:-);

This was knocked up a long time ago and someone asked me if the source was available so I decided to put it on CPAN. There is very little documentation with it.

There are also very few tests. If more than me and the person who asked for the module use it then I will write some tests for it.

At the moment I have been using it top obfuscate emails and not much else. A demo can be found at http://www.hjackson.org/cgi-bin/tools/email.pl

There are some undocumented features to this module and they are this way because I have not tested to see if they work yet.

Test::Dependencies is a Perl module to ensure that your Makefile.PL specifies all module dependencies.

SYNOPSIS

In your t/00-dependencies.t:
use Test::Dependencies exclude =>
[qw/ Your::Namespace Some::Other::Namespace /];

ok_dependencies();

Makes sure that all of the modules that are used are listed in the Makefile.PL as dependencies.

EXPORTED FUNCTIONS

ok_dependencies

This should be the only test called in the test file. It scans bin/ and lib/ for module usage and t/ for build usage. It will then test that all modules used are listed as required in Makefile.PL, all modules used in t/ are listed as build required, that all modules listed are actually used, and that modules that are listed are not in the core list.

GNU sauce 0.8.1

GNU sauce 0.8.1

GNU Sauce is an anti-spam server. more>>
GNU Sauce is an anti-spam server. SAUCE (Software Against Unsolicited Commercial Email) is an SMTP server that sits between the Internet and your actual mail software. It was originally written to help in the fight against spam, but it also helps encourage good configuration and administration in general.

SAUCE has various tactics for DETECTING incoming spam:

Extremely aggressive checks on incoming email and its sources. If any problems are discovered the mail is not accepted.
Spambait addresses: when mail is sent to a bait address its sources are blacklisted.
Mail from previously-unknown sources is delayed to give them a chance to try a bait address or get their account cancelled.

Pros:

SAUCE is very sucessful. It can cut spam by an order of magnitude.
Administrators using SAUCE have to deal with much less bounced mail.
SAUCE never bounces legitimate mail from correct, non-spamming sites.

Cons:

Most spam sources are misconfigured, but many other sites are too, and SAUCE will bounce their mail. SAUCE is not for you if clueless strangers often send you mail thats important to you.
SAUCE delays mail from new senders and sites (configurable, though).
SAUCE is something of a resource hog.
SAUCE is hard to install, especially if youre not using Debian.
SAUCE is controversial, because it deliberately rejects mail for technical deficiencies which wouldnt make it undeliverable.

SAUCE is not a users mailer. It must be installed on a mail hub by the system administrator. It needs existing SMTP software, which must have standard anti-spam features such as relay prevention, checking recipients during the SMTP conversation, etc. Currently you must be using Exim, though support for other mailers could be added.

YASTR 1.0

YASTR 1.0

YASTR is a simple string library that mainly consists of functionality that I require in my programs. more>>
YASTR is a simple string library that mainly consists of functionality that I require in my programs.

This entire library should be compatible with ANSI C89 && C99. To use, copy yastr.c, include "yastr.h" and go. No libraries to link, no special compilation flags, nada, zip zilch.

No initialization of the library is needed, but it is possible to configure the library to use custom functions to manage memory, as well as set the character used to escape and unescape strings.

Much of the library uses a yastr string, which is (currently) a rather simple structure, but please use yastr_len() and yastr_strptr() to extract the length and string pointer from a yastr struct. In future releases, the members of the structure may change as needed, but there are currently no plans to change yastr_len() or yastr_strptr().

To create a new yastr struct, try yastrnew() or yastrdup(). To destroy a string and free up memory, use yastrfree() on the string.

Most of the naming convention is ya[function], where [function] is the C function most similar to ya[function]. For example: yavsnprintf() -> vsnprintf()

Yastr also impliments a few non-traditional functions for manipulating string structures.
