KMSBII for Slackware 2.1.0
KDE Menu Sidebar Image Improvement is a simple improvement for your KDE Menu. more>>
KDE Menu Sidebar Image Improvement is a simple improvement for your KDE Menu that replaces default KDE Menu Sidebar image with one designed specifically for your Slackware GNULinux distribution.
Having say a Slackware or Debian or FreeBSD or any other OS/distribution logo instead of default KDE gear may be a much better choice for those of you who are just in love with your favorite *nix.
Personalized it looks sexy, it looks witty, it stresses the facts.
This project proved to be a little success because people seem to appreciate it.
So, now here we are with updated package again and it is my pleasure to hear from you that youve given it a try.
Enhancements:
- Project structure has been redefined so that it is now template based and extensible. This is basically a first attempt to unify all types of KMSBII presented at kde-look.org.
- Installation script has been dramastically improved; added new features to control the installation process and the ability to perform post-installation actions; run `./install.sh help for more information. The script is quite verbose now and informs user of every action performed in a user-friendly manner;
- Abbreviations of the project related names have been introduced to provide a convenient way to refer to them. See "ABBREVIATIONS" section of `./install.sh help output;
- Graphic source files as well as KMSBI files have been changed once again, changes have been made to achieve the best look of the KMSBI;
- Added KMSBII for Slackware GNULinux distribution v11.0.0;
- Updated documentation.
- Licensing agreement has been introduced to protect intellectual property and rights of its owner. See COPYING file for more details and "Licensing Agreement" section of this file for short explanations on how this licensing agreement works.

send2kflickr 0.1
send2kflickr is the first attempt to create a KIPI plugin which uses KFlickr. more>>
send2kflickr is the first attempt to create a KIPI plugin which uses KFlickr.
The functionality is limited but this is due to limitations in the KIPI API. For example I would of liked to of been able to add tags set in Digikam automatically in the photo however the KIPI API does not provide access to these tags.
NOTE: If you are a kflickr user you will notice that your user settings are not set. You will have to Authenticate send2kflickr with flickr.com to get these.
KFlickr is now available as a KIPI plugin. Thats right you will now be able to upload your photos directly from digikam, kphotoalbum and others using the same interface you have grown to love. So far photo title and description are supported. I am working on getting further support included but I am finding the KIPI API a bit limited. You can grab the software here?.
KFlickr offers many features such as:
- Drag-n-drop from other applications (such as Konqueror and DigiKam?)
- Easy editing of your photo properties (title, description, privacy, tags)
- Access to your Flickr.com list of tags
- Support for more than one user
- large Image preview
- support for the new flickr? authentication
- Batch editing of photos
- Proxy server support
- Support for JPG, PNG and (non-animated) GIF photo formats
- Photo rotate
- Photo resize before upload
- Konqueror Service menu
- Now a KPart (allows for future integration into other apps)
- Now supports DCOP (again allow for future integration into other apps)
- Unicode support

NRPE is an add-on for Nagios that allows you to execute plugins and commands on remote Linux/Unix machines. The project can be installed as a stand-alone daemon or run under inetd/xinetd, with native SSL/TLS encryption.
Nagios is an Open Source host, service and network monitoring program. Where can you get it? Right here. Can you get support for it? Yes!
Enhancements:
- I just released NRPE 2.8b1 for testing. The only significant changes since version 2.7.1 is the addition of new PDF documentation that describes in detail how NRPE works and how to get it installed. Id love to hear what people think of the new installation docs, as I want to make it easy for new folks to get started using the addon.

Phaeronix 0.85 Beta
Phaeronix is a Gentoo-based RR4 CD optimised for i686, with GNOME, Reiser4-enabled GRUB. more>>
Phaeronix is a gentoo love-sources RR4 CD with reiser4 enabled grub, auto hardware detection with nvidia 3D support , ready for multimedia, internet, and arabic. It is optimised for i686.
The kernel is now based on the 2.6.15-arckck7 patchset with a couple of additions ( one to fix acer laptop hangs and the other to fix slow laptop battery polls).
http://iphitus.loudas.com/archck.php
Final release is probably going to be based on the new -beyond patchset.
The livecd uses a genkernel generated initramfs, but with quite some hacks added to the linuxrc. As a result this initramfs can now probably boot from any media, anything from IDE to external firewire.
The CD is rendered pseudo-writable thanks to squashfs and unionfs.
Hardware detction is modular and can be turned on and off as needed. You can see the possible options in the cheatcodes list.
Modular Xorg-X11 7.0 is the default Xorg server. XGL server is included as an optional featured activated at boot time by booting like this :
"linux xgl"
This is experimental and might not work. Check http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_XGL
To find out if your card supported and to see if your problem has been already reported.
The desktop is a full gnome-2.14 , there is no KDE and no qt/KDE apps.
The default user name is phaeron and its password is also phaeron.
The root password is root.
The available editors are vim and nano.
Its built specifically to support arabic, with some patches and customizations. However, this is an ongoing process. It was spurred by arabbixs stagnation. Best of all just click on the keyboard applet or press alt+shift and you get an arabic keyboard layout.
"w3m -v" is the text only browser because it supports arabic ( along with bicon to bidi/shape properly ). Check here for the inspiration : http://www.eglug.org/node/1953
Also in gnome-terminal run a new session with the arabic profile and you will have full bidi and shaping thanks to arabeyes bicon.
Msameers arabic wordlist has been included in aspell and openoffice. Check here for the arabic wordlist : http://www.eglug.org/node/1976
You can logout from the desktop and choose arabic as the session language and then log in again. The desktop will be RTL and mostly in arabic. The reason this isnt made easier or more obvious is a lot of things still need translation or bugfixing. The infrastructure is there however.
The supported locales are : arabic, french, italian, german, and slovak.
The official gentoo installer is also included to help installing gentoo if you want.

iSearch engine 2.0.0
iSearch is an internal web site search engine. more>>
iSearch engine project is an internal web site search engine.
Built to run as a CGI module, iSearch performs a searching for one or more character sequences ( terms ) within documents in a web site, without the needing of external indexing and filtering tools, like, for example, a database engine.
iSearch performs a real time elaboration of HTML documents in a web site, every time it is invoked. Documents are found, filtered from unnecessary parts, like HTML tag, and then inspected searching for the input terms.
iSearch acts under the directives set in its configuration file. You can set one or more starting search path, exclude file or directories from scanning, set your own output templates, and so on.
So if you want to add an internal search engine in your web site, iSearch is one of your possible solutions.
iSearch is written in C and the source code is based on Yed technology.
Main features:
- iSearch is a CGI module written in C, available for both GNU/Linux and Windows environment.
- iSearch latest release has been developed and tested within an Apache HTTP server. OS involved are Slackware GNU/Linux and Windows XP SP2, both on a i686 architecture.
- When invoked, iSearch scans recursively directories in a web site extracting files so-called documents. In every document extracted, iSearch performs a filtering to delete unnecessary information, like HTML tags. Then, the pure resulting text is inspected searching for the characters sequences received in input, so-called terms.
- A term can be a single word, but also a sequence of words enclosed with character "; in this latter case, the sequence will be treated as a single term ( i.e. "sowing the seeds of love" ).
- All documents containing all the terms will be output according to user templates and related environment.
- All terms are matched in boolean AND mode: only a document containing all terms is considered as a matched document.
- All terms are matched in case-insensitive mode.
Enhancements:
- The ID Input parameter is now optional.
- If omitted, it defaults to the first < root > element of the configuration.
- Handling of eventual error explanation string was added in displaying error templates, through the new token "%det".
- Its now possible to search for strings enclosed with quotation marks (").
- The source code has been totally reorganized.
- The < replace > element was added in the configuration file.
- This element contains a list of strings to replace or cut from documents to inspect.

arianne 0.12
arianne is a multiplayer online game engine project. more>>
Arianne is a multiplayer online games framework and engine to develop turn based and real time games.
It provides a simple way of creating games on a portable and robust server architecture. The server is coded in Java and uses Python for your game description, provides a MySQL backend and uses an UDP transport channel to communicate with dozens of players.
Our reference client engines are coded using Java and the C language in order to achieve maximum portability.
Arianne has been in development since 1999 and has evolved from a tiny application written in pseudo-C++ to a powerful, expandable but simple server framework, running on the Java platform, and a portable client framework, written in bare C to allow total portability of ariannes clients. Ariannes server is totally client agnostic.
Since the beginning, the key concept at the heart of Ariannes development has been KISS: Keep it simple, stupid!
Arianne games are playable. It now hosts several games:
* a multiplayer Gladiators fighting game
* a multiplayer Pacman game
All our efforts are supported by ariannes server: Marauroa.
Marauroa is completely written in Java using a multithreaded server architecture with a UDP oriented network protocol, a MySQL based persistence engine and a flexible game system. The game system is totally expandable and modifiable by game developers and is able to run Python scripts defining the games rules.
Marauroa is based on a design philosophy we called Action/Perception. Each turn a perception is send to the clients explaining what they currently perceive. Clients can ask the server to perform any action in their name using actions. Marauroa is totally game agnostic and makes very little assumptions about what are you trying to do, allowing a great freedom to create any game type.
Bugs are facts of life, they just happen.
On Arianne we care about code quality so code is fully tested using Test Units with JUnit and cppunit, so all modules are tested for most common cases, allowing a better quality software to be deployed.
The name originated from the Greek name Ariadne. (Latin; Arianna and from French; Arianne). Ariadne is a famous character in Greek mythology. She was the daughter of King Minos of Crete and she was in love with Theseus, the Athenian hero who killed the Minotaur ( a half human, half bull creature).
Theseus married her, however, then later left her alone on the island of Naxos. Ariadne later married Dionisos the God of Wine. The name Ariadne originates from the ancient Greek words ari which means intelligent and adnis which means pure (as in a virgin). Hence, the daughters of the Romans and Greeks where often called by this name.
<<lessIt provides a simple way of creating games on a portable and robust server architecture. The server is coded in Java and uses Python for your game description, provides a MySQL backend and uses an UDP transport channel to communicate with dozens of players.
Our reference client engines are coded using Java and the C language in order to achieve maximum portability.
