Fracplanet 0.3.2

Fracplanet 0.3.2

Fracplanet is an interactive application to generate and view random fractal planets. more>>
Fracplanet is an interactive tool for creating random fractal planets and terrain areas with oceans, rivers, lakes and icecaps.
The results can be saved in POV-Ray format. The code is licensed under the GPL. Fracplanet project uses Qt and OpenGL.
Enhancements:
- The main addition in this release is the ability to export the terrain as a texture map, with or without relief shading.
- A DEM (Digital Elevation Model, or height field) and normal map are also written.
- For planets, the textures are a cylindrically projected latitude/longitude map (this is directly usable as a spheremap in POV-Ray).
- The illumination direction is now controllable from the GUI, and swirly spiral weather systems can be added into the clouds.

Apache Pluto 1.0.1

Apache Pluto 1.0.1

Pluto is the reference implementation of the Java Portlet Specification (JSR-168). more>>
Pluto is the Reference Implementation of the Java Portlet Specfication. The current version of this specification is JSR 168.
Portlets are designed to run in the context of a portal. They are written to the Portlet API which are similar to the Servlet API.
In contrast to servlets, portlets may not do things like sending redirects or errors to browsers directly, forwarding requests or writing arbitrary markup to the output stream to assure that they don?t distract the portal web application which uses them.
Another difference compared to servlets is that portlets rely on portal specific infrastructure functions such as access to user profile information, standard interface for storing/retrieving persistent settings, getting client information, etc. Generally,
portlets are administrated more dynamically than servlets typically are.
A portlet container provides a runtime environment for portlets implemented according to the Portlet API. In this environment portlets can be instantiated, used and finally destroyed. The portlet container is not a stand-alone container like the servlet container; instead it is implemented as a thin layer on top of the servlet container and reuses the functionality provided by the servlet container.
Pluto serves as portlet container that implements the Portlet API and offers developers a working example platform from which they can test their portlets. However, its cumbersome to execute and test the portlet container without a driver, in this case, the portal.
Plutos simple portal component is built only on the portlet containers and the JSR 168s requirements. (In contrast, the more sophisticated, Jetspeed project concentrates on the portal itself rather than the portlet container, and considers requirements from other groups.)
Enhancements:
- Added Pluto 1.1 index page and basic documentation
- PLUTO 164: response contentType can change after getWriter()
- PLUTO 155: URL encoding in pluto 1.0.1-RC4 issue when using apache with jk2
- PLUTO 157: portlet.tld taglib is using jsp version 1.1. JSR168 spec requires JSP version 1.2
- PLUTO 152: Support maven deployment to a remote repository
- PLUTO 130: portlet:namespace fails inside JSTL c:set
- PLUTO-107: Admin portlet fails to add page. Hot deployment now supported.
- PLUTO-92: Deployer strips elements from web.xml (Deploy War Portlet)

Planets 0.1.13

Planets 0.1.13

Planets is an orbital simulator. more>>
Planets is a simple interactive program for playing with simulations of planetary systems, released under the GPL. The project runs on Linux and Windows, and could doubtless be ported to your favorite flavor of Unix.
Planets was originally designed for kids, in particular, for my then 4-year old nephew who is fascinated by astronomy. The user interface is aimed at being simple enough that a fairly young kid can get some joy out of it. But the adults who have used it have found it to be pretty fun as well.
The code is not bug-free, and Planets is missing some significant features. But its pretty stable and is a fun toy to play with. If you do download it, please drop me an email and tell me about your experience with it.
Main features:
- Saving and loading of universes
- Infinite undo (erase last action) and goback (return to point in time just after last action). This allows for undoing mistakes and replaying interesting configurations.
- Traces of planet trajectories
- Two ways of dealing with planet collisions:
- merges, where the colliding planets are merged into one planet, and
- bounces, where the colliding planets are bounced off each other elastically. This itself comes in two varieties:
- force bouncing, where the force between planets is made repulsive at close quarters.
- true bouncing, where simple pool-table physics calculations are made to determine when planets collide, and compute the appropriate bounce from said collision.
- kidmode, a mode where the focus is (mostly) locked on the application, and interesting changes are initiated by merely banging on the keyboard. This mode is aimed at 1-5 year olds.
- Center-of-mass following: it is possible to follow the center of mass of a subset of the planets. Thus, if you have a sun-moon-planet system, you can have the view automatically track the moon-planet pair.
- Can display kinetic, potential and total energy of the system.
- Both the gravitational constant and the gravitational exponent can be changed.
- There is a simple control panel that makes it possible to see and change the simulation options.
- Zooming, panning, and centering on the center of mass.

Planets 3D 1.3

Planets 3D 1.3

Planets 3D is a graphical tool for the simulation of the solar system. more>>
The purpose of Planets 3D is to show a simulation of our solar system. The focus lies on a nice graphic (3D OpenGL) and the possibility to modify the objects of the solar system to see what happens.
This program is written on Linux using C++. In theory it should be portable to windows, because Ive used only plattform independent libraries. Anyone who tries to port it please contact me even if unsuccessful, perhaps I can help overcome arising errors.
By now there is included a small program which converts different coordinate systems into each other. It is called Astroconvert.
Main features:
- simulate the development of the solar system based on calculations of the gravity power
- take screenshots
- load and save solar systems
- modify solarsystem
- switch between different cameras to view the solar system (e.g. look through a shuttle window)

xplanets 1.0.0

xplanets 1.0.0

xplanets shows a simulation of a spacecraft flying through the solar system. more>>
xplanets shows a simulation of a spacecraft flying through the solar system. With the controls next to the simulation screen you can control the simulation and steer the spacecrafts flight.
The following planets are visible:
- the Sun (yellow)
- mercury (gray38)
- venus (burlywood2)
- earth (blue2)
- mars (LightSalmon3)
Note that the sizes of the sun and planets are not to scale, though their distances are. Showing the planets to scale would mean that they wouldnt be visible. The solar system is rather big, after all.
The planet nearest to the spaceship is indicated with a red circle around it. Its relative speed and distance are shown in the data display.
The xplanets program uses the GTK+ toolkit. It has been built with version 2.2.1, so it should work with any version >2.0.0. It does not work with GTK+ 1.x anymore.

Global Village 0.0.5

Global Village 0.0.5

Global Village project can place a front-end, or graphical user interface onto the CLI interface of Xplanet. more>>
Global Village project is a gnome application designed to place a front-end, or graphical user interface onto the CLI interface of Xplanet, by Hari Nair.
Originally intended to create and update the desktop wallpaper in a gnome environment, showing a traditional rectangular projection of the planet Earth, the scope of the project has been expanded. Global Village now provides as many of the features of Xplanet as seem reasonable, and with the ability for plugins the scope is nearly limitless. But do take it with a grain of salt...
Current Status
Currently, Global Village is barely functional. It can be considered in the pre-alpha stage of development.
It can currently show a preview of the final image, and then display that image on the desktop at user specified intervals (in seconds), and has an icon in the notification area of the Gnome panel.
Plugins are semi-working, but undergoing a lot of change as I decide what they do adn dont need to be capable of. The idea is that plugins will manage all the extra features users require, like cloudmaps, marker and arc files.
Main features:
- Select a planet.
- Select a projection.
- Bodys North Type.
- Rotate the bodys North Pole
- The Zoom level
- The Suns glare
- Latitude and Longitude, which can be set as:
- North Pole
- South Pole
- Equator
- Random Latitude and Longitude
- Or any number of user configerable locations.

Smart Package Manager 0.40

Smart Package Manager 0.40

Smart is a package manager (like APT or Yum) that works with several backends including RPM, dpkg, and Slackware packages. more>>
The Smart Package Manager project has the ambitious objective of creating smart and portable algorithms for solving adequately the problem of managing software upgrading and installation.
This tool works in all major distributions, and will bring notable advantages over native tools currently in use (APT, APT-RPM, YUM, URPMI, etc).
Notice that this project is not a magical bridge between every distribution in the planet. Instead, this is a software offering better package management for these distributions, even when working with their own packages.
Using multiple package managers at the same time (like rpm and dpkg) is possible, even though not the software goal at this moment.
This project is in beta testing. Please, understand that bugs are expected to be found at that stage, and there are features that still must be implemented in the forthcoming future. Even then, this project is being tested in a considerable number of machines for several months already.
Enhancements:
- A channel --remove-all option was added.
- A bug that made the rpm-metadata loader ignore explicitly provided files in certain situations was fixed.
- A detectsys.py plugin was added, which will automatically detect and include system channels when theyre missing.
- Double conversion of paths in LocalMediaHandler is now avoided.
- German translations were integrated and the French translations were merged.
- The deb backend now uses an underline for the name/version separator.
- A bug in the protected read code for old Python versions was fixed along with a locking issue in the RPM pm

The Ark Roleplaying Kernel 0.1.4

The Ark Roleplaying Kernel 0.1.4

The Ark Roleplaying Kernel is a 3D multiplayer roleplaying engine. more>>
The Ark Roleplaying Kernel project is a 3D multiplayer roleplaying engine.

The Ark Roleplaying Kernel is a roleplaying engine that will allow game developers to create a full- featured role playing game, without having to write a single line of C++. All they have to do is to create game data (models, textures, world), and define the behaviour NPCs, in Lua. The engine contains a full outdoor 3D engine, with support for skeletal animation, and triangle- accurate collision detection. It also contains tools to create world and quests, and loaders for the most common low-polygon 3D formats.

After an never-ending war which had begun because of the arrival of the daphyrings (insect-like creatures) which some humans feared, the planet sank bit by bit into a Middle-Age-like ignorance. From the bits of a rich and united nation were born numerous empires ever waging war between themselves. Humans having forgotten all their knowledge use the seldom-found devices of the ancient civilization such as magical artifacts, for they now know only how to forge old-fashioned weapons such as swords, axes, bows...

Fauna and flora themselves have been modified, because of the cataclysms (nuclear incidents) which occurred during the Great War. These accidents have also divided humans into many clans yet having a common religion. It is in this world, named Arkhart, that the game named for the moment ArkhartRPG (ah, such originality!) takes place.

LINGOT Is Not a Guitar-Only Tuner 0.7.2

LINGOT Is Not a Guitar-Only Tuner 0.7.2

LINGOT is a musical instrument tuner. more>>
LINGOT is a musical instrument tuner. LINGOT is easy to use, accurate, and highly configurable. Originally conceived to tune electric guitars, its configurability gives it a more general character. (Tuning another instruments has not been tested).
It looks like an analogic tuner, with a gauge indicating the relative shift to a certain note --found automatically as the closest note to the estimated frequency--, indicating that note and its frequency.
The note will be found automatically, since the program hasnt any manual function mode (indicating the note to tune manually), for mantaining its general purpose.
We recommend using the tuner in conjunction with a sound mixer for selecting the desired recording source and the signal recording levels.
Main features:
- Accurate.
- Easy to use. Just plug in your instrument and run tuner.
- Very configurable via GUI. Its possible to change any parameter while the program is running, without editing any file.
- It works in an automatic way. It isnt necessary specify the note to tune; the program guesses it.
- Its free software. It has GPL license.
- Tuning other instruments than guitars is possible. Since this program guesses the note you are playing, it can be used to tune a piano, a bass, a violin, etc.
Enhancements:
- Files have been reorganized to a more "GNU-like" structure.
- Multi-lingual support has been added.

Autodia::Handler::Torque 2.03

Autodia::Handler::Torque 2.03

Autodia::Handler::Torque Perl module contains an AutoDia handler for Torque xml database schema. more>>
Autodia::Handler::Torque Perl module contains an AutoDia handler for Torque xml database schema.

This provides Autodia with the ability to read Torque Database Schema files, allowing you to convert them via the Diagram Export methods to images (using GraphViz and VCG) or html/xml using custom templates or to Dia.

SYNOPSIS

use Autodia::Handler::Torque;

my $handler = Autodia::Handler::dia->New(%Config);

$handler->Parse(filename); # where filename includes full or relative path.

Description

The Torque handler will parse the xml file using XML::Simple and populating the diagram object with class, superclass, and relationships representing tables and relationships.

The Torque handler is registered in the Autodia.pm module, which contains a hash of language names and the name of their respective language.

An example Torque database schema is shown here - its actually a rather nice format apart from the Java studlyCaps..

Global Assassin 2.0

Global Assassin is a text-based action game. more>>
Global Assassin is a text-based action game.

The Global Assassin game is a multiplayer, shoot-em-up game set in the first person, and yet its text-based.

The year is 2035, and robots have taken over the Earth. Most humans died during the invasion or were forced to flee the planet. You are part of a small resistance that has managed to survive underground and is now prepared to strike back.

As a trained assassin, your objective is to return to the Earths surface, stealthily move through the worlds major cities, and systematically rid the planet of its invaders.

The details of the game are as follows.

The battlefield consists of 20 cities around the globe.

These cities have been connected for your mission by an ellaborate portal system.

Use the portals to move between cities as you search for and destroy the robots.

You are armed with a gun, bullets, and grenades.

To successfully strike an invader, you and your target must occupy the same city at the precise moment you attack.

You can lay a mine in a given city, and the very next player to enter that city trips the mine.

You remain alive as long as you have health points.

Over time, you automatically earn back health points, bullets, and grenades.

This is a multiplayer game. You may or may not be the only assassin on the planet!
