IP Accounter 1.31

IP Accounter 1.31

IPAC-NG is the iptables/ipchains based IP accounting package for Linux. more>>
IPAC-NG is the iptables/ipchains based IP accounting package for Linux.

It collects, summarizes, and nicely displays IP accounting data. Its output can be a simple ASCII table, or graph images. Ipchains and iptables are supported. Logs are stored in files, gdbm, or PostgreSQL database.

ipac consists of one perl script and one C program:

- fetchipac, executed from cron once in a while, reads the current ip accounting data assembled by the kernel and stores it into a database

- ipacsum summarizes the data from a set of records from the database and, optionally,
replaces these records by one. It displays the values as a simple table containing the sums, as png graph pictures or as ascii graph pictures.

Wiaflos Accounting 0.0.5

Wiaflos Accounting 0.0.5

Wiaflos Accounting is an attempt to create a multi-platform server-client based accounting system. more>>
Wiaflos Accounting project is an attempt to create a multi-platform server-client based accounting system.
The goal is to have a central accounting engine which can either run on a dedicated server or on the same PC as the client interface. The accounting engine will provide a full SOAP API for easy writing of GUI/Web interfaces or tieing into inhouse systems. Seeing as the accounting engine is written in Perl and makes use of a database abstraction layer, the engine should run on nearly any operating system and use nearly any database system supported by Perl and the target OS.
We want this package to be of equal use to the one-man-show as a full accounting package running on a single PC aswell as to large multi-national corporate entities with dedicated accounting servers using the package as a fast stable accounting function, solution or full package.
Main features:
Platform independant
- Wiaflos Accountings core and engine is written in Perl. Perl is an interpreted programming language capable of running on many different platforms including Unix/Linux, Mac, Windows, BSD and many more.
Database independent
- Wiaflos Accountings database interface utilizes the Perl DBI module. This module allows Wiaflos Accounting to access multiple database types transparently, allowing you to utilize the database of your choice, be it MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, Informix, Sybase or ODBC (or basically anything else).
Folding database transactions
- All modules use database transactions to ensure that if an error occurs everything is rolled back to a safe state. When different modules are integrated to provide functionality like invoicing and purchasing, there are sometimes quite a number of transactions involved which both update, insert and query data. The Wiaflos Accounting database engine automatically merges all transactions during a specific operation into one, this ensures a clean rollback should anything go wrong.
SOAP API (WebServices)
- The interface to Wiaflos Accounting is based on SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol). The SOAP protocol is a critical communication protocol on the Internet due in large part to the fact that it has become native to so many development platforms, this allows Wiaflos Accounting the maximum benefit of integration and interpolation with other software packages. The SOAP API supports communication over HTTP and HTTPS and includes a full user-based access control system, allowing only certain users access to certain API functions.
Persistent sessions
- Not only does Wiaflos Accounting support SOAP, but it supports persistent SOAP sessions. Authentication is only required once, after that a session cookie is handed to the client application which can then be used in future function calls to authenticate.
Enhancements:
- This version includes support for statements and "balance brought forward" when requesting GL entries.
- Some bugfixes and feature enhancements were made.

Saccs personal accounting 0.6

Saccs personal accounting 0.6

Saccs personal accounting provides a simple Web-based personal accounting package. more>>
Saccs personal accounting provides a simple Web-based personal accounting package.
A person can have multiple accounts. Multiple installations on one system can accommodate multiple users.
Details:
Perl and MySQL. Certain perl libraries such as HTML::Template and DBI are required. Apache or something like it is recommended.
Will run on almost anything that can handle apache and perl.
I wrote a simple set of scripts to do web-based tracking of my bank accounts, credit card and cash balances, and "who owes me how much". This worked well enough for 3 years, so I want to release it for others to use. But the original is very dirty code and hard to install, so Im writing a new one, with the lessons learned in 3 years, that will also be properly modularised and packaged.
Main features:
- Create/open an account: bank or credit card or "community". You can have as many of these as will fit in the menu, more if you dont mind crowding.
- Bank account detail display will show date, description, "cleared" (think check) per month. It will show a balance and a "cleared" balance. The "cleared" balance should be the same as what your ATM shows you. It will also show the months net inflow and outflow.
- For bank accounts, previous months can be viewed. The month display will show beginning and ending balances and light up discrepancies.
- For credit cards, a running balance total will be shown along with date, item description, etc. When you receive your monthly statement, delete the items that are correct and enter the balance as a new starting point for the calculation. This helps to keep track of what youre spending on the card.
- "Community" shows a grid, each column corresponds to a friend and each row corresponds to money owed to or by one of the friends. The last row, the total, shows the total owed to or by the friend. Very useful for roommates and easier to use than describe.
- Transfers between accounts.
- No direct communication with any financial institution.
Enhancements:
- Fixed bug in adding names in community account
- Added the totals.

SQL-Ledger Accounting 2.6.27

SQL-Ledger Accounting 2.6.27

SQL-Ledger is a double entry accounting system. more>>
SQL-Ledger Accounting project is a double entry accounting system. Accounting data is stored in a SQL Server, for the display any text or GUI browser can be used. The entire system is linked through a chart of accounts. Each item in inventory is linked to income, expense, inventory and tax accounts. When items are sold and purchased the accounts are automatically updated.
With the assembly feature you can build manufactured goods from parts, services, labor units and assemblies. When the assembly is sold all the accounts linked to the individual parts, services, labor units and assemblies are updated and stock levels adjusted accordingly.
Invoices, Packing List, Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Sales, Work and Purchase Order, Statements, Receipts and Checks are generated from templates and can be changed to suit your needs. Templates are provided in html, tex and text format. The tex templates are processed with latex to produce postscript and PDF documents. Documents can be sent to a printer, file or fax, displayed with a PDF viewer or sent by email.
The translation mechanism for items and foreign language templates can be set for each customer/vendor so it is possible to generate invoices in a foreign language without knowledge of a foreign language. This translation facility can also be used to generate different forms for a group of customers/vendors.
DWS Systems Inc. is the developer of SQL-Ledger and provides ongoing support and customizations. SQL-Ledger is licensed under the GPL license, and is free software.
SQL-Ledger can be used on any UNIX, Mac OS X and Windows computer.
SQL-Ledger is written in Perl, developed on FreeBSD and Linux with Galeon, Konqueror, Netscape, Lynx, Links, W3M, Voyager, Explorer to render the display, Apache, thttpd, boa to communicate between the server and the browser, and PostgreSQL, Oracle, or DB2 to store accounting data.

Useful Traffic Accounting Dragon 0.4

Useful Traffic Accounting Dragon 0.4

Useful Traffic Accounting Dragon is a traffic accounter that actually gives useful information about traffic. more>>
Useful Traffic Accounting Dragon is a traffic accounter that actually gives useful information about traffic instead of stupidly counting incoming/outgoing packets.
Dragon accounts traffic by user, program and timestamp and puts this information into useful correlation.
Dragon is implemented as a Perl script for the backend, using /etc/passwd to automatically get information about user accounts, /proc/net/ to get information about open connections and /proc/ to get information about running processes and which processes currently use which network connection.
All this information can be combined so you can actually see what user caused which traffic using what program and when it happened.
All this information is acquired automatically so the minimal configuration necessary is to tell dragon where it can find its MySQL database.
Enhancements:
Features:
- cleanup on CTRL-C
- add patch for Linux Kernel 2.6.17.7
- for now, graphs are disabled in the webfrontend
- webfrontend has now Total, User and Program tabs
Bugfixes:
- forgot to close a filedescriptor fixed
- use leading zeroes on port numbers in messages about connections that no longer exist
- really fix wait for next minute

IP::Country 2.23

IP::Country 2.23

IP::Country is a tool for fast lookup of country codes from IP addresses. more>>
IP::Country is a tool for fast lookup of country codes from IP addresses. Finding out the country of a client using only the IP address can be difficult.

Looking up the domain name associated with that address can provide some help, but many IP address are not reverse mapped to any useful domain, and the most common domain (.com) offers no help when looking for country.

IP::Country module comes bundled with a database of countries where various IP addresses have been assigned. Although the country of assignment will probably be the country associated with a large ISP rather than the client herself, this is probably good enough for most log analysis applications, and under test has proved to be as accurate as reverse-DNS and WHOIS lookup.

pmacct-contribs 20051103

pmacct-contribs 20051103

pmacct is a small set of passive network monitoring tools to measure, account and aggregate IPv4 and IPv6 traffic. more>>
pmacct is a small set of passive network monitoring tools to measure, account and aggregate IPv4 and IPv6 traffic; aggregation revolves around the key concept of primitives (VLAN id, source and destination MAC addresses, hosts, networks, AS numbers, ports, IP protocol and ToS/DSCP field are supported) which may be arbitrarily combined to build custom aggregation methods; support for historical data breakdown, triggers and packet tagging, filtering and sampling.

Aggregates can be stored into memory tables, SQL databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL) or simply printed to stdout. Data is collected from the network either using libpcap (and optionally promiscuous mode) or reading NetFlow v1/v5/v7/v8/v9 and sFlow v2/v4/v5 datagrams, both unicast and multicast.

IP accounting is the key in ISP/IXP network operations like billing, graphing network resources usage, live or historical traffic analysis, handling of network thresholds, provisioning and SLA monitoring. SNMP counters sometime are not this useful because of their coarse granularity.

Finer granularities become valuable if data are historical and match logical entities of interest such as Autonomous System Numbers, departmental or customer network chunks, specific traffic flows, etc. Further, actual large-scale networks are able to produce, in very short times, high amounts of data that become quickly difficult to be processed in a meaningful way

In this context, traffic aggregation and advanced filtering and sampling capabilities are requirements that cannot be missed anymore.

Either using memory or SQL tables as backend storage, pmacct can easily feed data to tools like MRTG, RRDtool, Cacti and Gnuplot among the others. A little scripting abilities are required to glue pmacct with external tools and a number of sample scripts and some tutorials are already available.
