Dirty Water 0.1.0

Dirty Water 0.1.0

Dirty Water project is a custom MUD server. more>>
Dirty Water project is a custom MUD server.
Dirty Water is an original MUD server/engine written in OCaml.
It is designed to be much more advanced and realistic and to encourage role playing more than Diku-style MUDs.
We are using a higher level language which we feel will yield a code-base that is significantly easier to modify, maintain and understand.
We felt that OCaml would make a good choice for this language, though we have since decided Scheme would be a better choice.
All of our code is licensed under the GNU GPL.
Enhancements:
- can pick up items
- can view inventory
- you can specify 1st, 2nd, etc when refering to items
- cant pick up buildings or yourself
- dont see yourself in room descriptions

Ogrian Carpet 0.9

Ogrian Carpet 0.9

Ogrian Carpet is a 3D fantasy action/strategy game. more>>
Ogrian Carpet project is a 3D fantasy action/strategy game.
Ogrian Carpet is an outdoor first person shooter game with real time strategy elements, inspired by the game Magic Carpet.
It uses Ogre3D as the renderer and allows you to fly around an island casting spells, summoning monsters, collecting mana, and building castles.
The object of the game is to build a castle, collect mana, and destroy your enemies. To build a castle, select a location, look at the ground, and cast the build spell. Note, you cannot build castles very close to water or other castles.
Your castle starts out small, with only one turret. As more mana is added to your castle, it will gain more turrets. Each turret adds another crane to your castles defense and another spell to your arsenal.
Basically, the game consists of fighting for control of mana. Whenever you encounter another wizard, shoot them with fireballs. If you hit them enough, they will "die" and be sent back to their castle. You are then free to claim all the mana in the area for yourself.
Once all the mana has been claimed, attack your enemys castle to get mana out of it so you can claim it for yourself. Once you enemys castle is out of mana, you can eliminate it by killing its heart. When all of your opponents have been banished, youve won.
Enhancements:
- AI bot player for skirmish
- things can now be loaded from an image, rather then randomly
- option for old randomized maps
- trees can now always bee seen
- made castle mana drops aggregate more
- loosened the restrictions on summoning
- made the config menu better
- added victory conditions to skirmish: kill all enemy towers/castles
- made ticks and gnomes stay in the formation you put them in
- made monsters and towers drop less then their cost when they have no wizard
- made mana float higher
- made towers cheaper (50)
- made sentinels drop much less (3)
- changed speed behavior on lava maps
- added victory music
- new music

Filesystem in Userspace 2.7.0

Filesystem in Userspace 2.7.0

Filesystem in Userspace is an interface for filesystems implemented in userspace. more>>
FUSE can implement a fully functional filesystem in a userspace program.
Main features:
- Simple library API
- Simple installation (no need to patch or recompile the kernel)
- Secure implementation
- Userspace - kernel interface is very efficient
- Usable by non privileged users
- Runs on Linux kernels 2.4.X and 2.6.X
- Has proven very stable over time
Installation
Some projects include the whole FUSE package (for simpler installation). In other cases or just to try out the examples FUSE must be installed first. The installation is simple, after unpacking enter:
./configure
make
make install
If this produces an error, please read on.
The configure script will try to guess the location of the kernel source. In case this fails, it may be specified using the --with-kernel parameter. Building the kernel module needs a configured kernel source tree matching the running kernel. If you build your own kernel this is no problem. On the other hand if a precompiled kernel is used, the kernel headers used by the FUSE build process must first be prepared. There are two possibilities:
1. A package containing the kernel headers for the kernel binary is available in the distribution (e.g. on Debian its the kernel-headers-X.Y.Z package for kernel-image-X.Y.Z)
2. The kernel source must be prepared:
- Extract the kernel source to some directory
- Copy the running kernels config (usually found in /boot/config-X.Y.Z) to .config at the top of the source tree
- Run make menuconfig, then make dep at the top of the source tree (only needed on 2.4 kernels)
If using the 2.6 kernel, then write access is needed to some files in the kernel source tree. Usually it is enough if you make .tmp_versions and .__modpost.cmd writable.
Enhancements:
- Stacking support for the high level API
- Add filename charset conversion module
- Improved mounting

Print Plug-In 2.0.2

Print Plug-In 2.0.2

Print Plug-In provides a basic printing capability for The GIMP. more>>
Print Plug-In provides a basic printing capability for The GIMP.
The current release supports PostScript, PCL (HP LaserJet and DeskJet), and ESC/P2 (EPSON Stylus Color) printers. The PostScript printer drivers handle PPD (PostScript Printer Description) files if you have them.
Using the Print Plug-In:
The Printer option provides selections for many common printers. Currently the print plug-in supports the following printers:
- PostScript printers
- HP DeskJet 500, 500C, 520, 540C, 600C, 660C, 68xC, 69xC, 850C, 855C, 855Cse, 855Cxi, 870Cse, 870Cxi, 1100C, 1120C, 1200C, and 1600C printers
- HP LaserJet II, III, IIIp, IIIsi, 4, 4L, 4P, 4V, 4Si, 5, 5FS, 5L, 5P, 5SE, 5Si, 6L, 6P printers
- EPSON Stylus Color, Color Pro, Color Pro XL, Color 400, Color 500, Color 600, Color 800, Color 1500, Color 1520, and Color 3000.
The Output Type option controls whether the printed output is in color or B&W (grayscale). This option is silently forced to B&W for grayscale images and B&W-only printers.
The Media Size option controls the size of the output. By default images are printed to fit the page and are automatically rotated to fill the largest area possible.
The Media Type option tells the printer what type of media is being used (Plain, Coated, etc). Not all printers support the media type option.
The Media Source option tells the printer which paper tray to print from. Not all printers support the media source option.
The Resolution option controls the resolution of the output. Not all printers support the resolution option.
The Orientation option controls whether the output is automatically rotated for maximum page coverage (Auto) or set to a specific orientation (Portrait or Landscape).
The Scaling option controls how large the printed image is. The default is to scale to a percentage of the printable area of the page. You can also specify an image resolution in pixels-per-inch (PPI) by clicking on the PPI radio button. The image is centered by default, however you can adjust the position of the image on the page by dragging the preview image.
The Brightness option controls the overall printed image brightness. A brightness of 100 is usually good for most B&W and PostScript printers, while most inkjet printers need a brightness between 100 and 120 for acceptable results.
Printing to a File
If you want to print to a file, select File from the Printer list. A file chooser dialog is displayed when you press the Print button. Warning, when you print to a file any existing file will be silently overwritten by this release of the plug-in!
Layered Images
Like most plug-ins, the print plug-in only reads the image from the active layer. If you want to print a composite of all visible layers you need to merge the layers (CTRL-M) and then print.
Supported Printers/Features
Most of the printer drivers in the print plug-in use the highest supported resolution for a printer, with the following exceptions:
- EPSON Stylus Color 600, 800, 1520, and 3000 - Currently the driver only supports 720 DPI printing in "compatibility" mode. This makes the drivers extremely slow compared to the Windows and Mac drivers. Unfortunately, I cannot provide optimized drivers (nor drivers for 1440x720) because of our NDA with EPSON.
- EPSON Stylus Photo, Photo Ex, Photo 700 - Currently the driver only supports 720 DPI printing in "compatibility" mode. This makes the drivers extremely slow compared to the Windows and Mac drivers, and you dont get the use of the light cyan and magenta inks (again, because of NDA restrictions.)

Isotopic Pattern Calculator 1.4

Isotopic Pattern Calculator 1.4

Isotopic Pattern Calculator is a calculates isotopic distributions. more>>
IPC is a program that calculates the isotopic distribution of a given chemical formula. It gives the rel. intensities and the propability of the masses belonging to a molecule ion, fragment or whatever is represented by the given chemical formula.
Furthernmore it can use GNUPlot to visualize the result. Only masses with a rel. Intensity bigger then 0.009% are shown. Additionaly ipc prints the overall number of peaks and the needed computation time.
The program uses an algorithm which computes the exact isotopic distribution. This leads to a large number of peaks which have very low rel. abundances. Even for a small molecule as Acetylsalicylic acid ( C9H8O4, Mr=180.15) there are 1350 peaks but only nine of them have a rel. abundance higher then 0.01%.
Enhancements:
- A complete list of elements and isotopes is now used.
- The list of elements is taken from the NIST.

dynamic window manager 4.3

dynamic window manager 4.3

dynamic window manager or dwm is a dynamic window manager for X11. more>>
dynamic window manager or dwm is a dynamic window manager for X11.
As founder and main developer of wmii I came to the conclusion that wmii is too clunky for my needs. I dont need so many funky features and all this hype about remote control through a 9P service, I only want to manage my windows in a simple, but dynamic way.
wmii never got finished because I listened to users, who proposed arbitrary ideas I considered useful. This resulted in an extreme CADT development model, which was a mistake. Thus the philosophy of dwm is simply to fit my needs (maybe yours as well). Thats it.
Main features:
- dwm has no Lua integration, no 9P support, no editable tagbars, no shell-based configuration, no remote control, and comes without any additional tools like printing the selection or warping the mouse.
- dwm is only a single binary, its source code is intended to never exceed 2000 SLOC.
- dwm is based on tagging and dynamic window management (however simpler than ion, wmii or larswm). It manages windows in tiling and floating modes. Either mode can be applied dynamically, depending on the application in use and the task performed.
- dwm doesnt distinguishes between layers, there is no floating or tiled layer. Wether the clients of currently selected tag are in tiled mode or not, you can re-arrange all clients on the fly. Popup- and fixed-size windows are treated floating, however.
- dwm is customized through editing its source code, that makes it extremely fast and secure - it does not process any input data which hasnt been known at compile time, except window title names and status text read from standard input. You dont have to learn Lua/sh/ruby or some weird configuration file format (like X resource files), beside C to customize it for your needs, you only have to learn C (at least editing header files).
- Because dwm is customized through editing its source code, its pointless to make binary packages of it. This keeps its userbase small and elitist. No novices asking stupid questions.
- dwm uses 1-pixel borders to provide the maximum of screen real estate to clients. Small titlebars are only drawn in front of unfocused clients.
- dwm reads from standard input to print arbitrary status text (like the date, load, battery charge). Thats much simpler than larsremote, wmiir and what not...
- It can be downloaded and distributed under the conditions of the MIT/X Consortium license.
- Optionally you can install dmenu to extend dwm with a wmii-alike menu.
Enhancements:
- This release contains certain major bugfixes, especially regarding banning/unbanning client windows.

Ion 3rc-20070708

Ion 3rc-20070708

Ion is a tiling (no overlapping windows) window manager that also has PWM-style tabbed frames which can contain multiple windows more>>
Ion is a tiling (no overlapping windows) window manager which also has PWM-style tabbed frames which can contain multiple client windows.
These features help to keep windows organized and to switch quickly between them. Ion was designed primarily as an efficient and unobtrusive window manager for users who prefer the keyboard
Main features:
- Tiling workspaces with tabbed frames, as discussed above.
- Designed to be primarily used from the keyboard.
- Fully documented configuration and scripting interface on top of the lightweight Lua extension language.
- Modular design. The main binary implements only basic window manager functionality. Actual window management policies are implemented by dynamically loaded workspace and other modules.
- The query module implements a line editor similar to mini buffers in many text editors. It is used to implement many different queries with tab-completion support: show manual page, run program, open SSH session, view file, goto named client window or workspace, etc.
- To run those few particularly badly behaving programs, Ion also supports conventional workspaces of the PWM flavour through the floatws module. This module is also used to implement PWM2 on top of the Ion core library.
- Other modules include the drawing engine, dock module for Window Maker dockapp support, menu module and, of course, the tiled workspaces module.
- Full screen client windows are seen as workspaces on their own. It is possible to switch to a normal workspace while keeping several client windows in full screen state and also switch clients that do not themselves support full screen mode to this state.
Ion is not perfect and certainly not for everyone, but neither is any user interface. To ultimately solve usability problems to the extent possible with current technologies, applications should be written independent of their user interfaces and the UIs should be built according to the users preferences based on a high-level semantic description of commands provided by the application.
Ion is, however, improving all the time and if you take the time to get used to it, you should hardly ever have to touch the mouse again to move between windows. Just remember that not all programs will play nicely with Ion because of presumptions about the window management model and even incompliance to the ICCCM. Terminal programs should work better than ever before, at least.
Enhancements:
- This third "rc" release again simply fixes some minor problems in the previous release.
