DataReel 4.30
Datareel is a comprehensive development kit used to build multi-threaded database and communication applications. more>>
Datareel project is a comprehensive development kit used to build multi-threaded database and communication applications.
C++ is a programming language that produces fast executing compiled programs and offers very powerful programming capabilities.
Unlike interpreted languages such as JAVA and PERL the C++ language by itself does not contain built-in programming interfaces for database, communications, and multi-threaded programming.
By using DataReel you can extend the power of the C++ programming language by using high-level programming interfaces for database, communications, and multi-threaded programming.
The DataReel development package was produced by independent work and contract work released to the public through non-exclusive license agreements.
The initial work began independently in 1997 and was augmented from 1999 to 2004 by code produced under contract to support various applications.
Several developers throughout the World have made contributions to enhance the DataReel code and promote its stability.
In 2005 the DataReel code library underwent intense analysis to produce a bulletproof code base suitable for use in complex commercial applications.

DM-BP2-Calandras
The courtyards of Calandras were once beautiful and welcoming. While the Temple’s interiors have been preserved, a new less-inviting use has been found for the exteriors.
DM-BP2-GoopGod
For centuries the Nali monks managed to keep this sacred burial ground hidden until Liandri satellites discovered the location during a routine satellite sweep. The area was mined, and what remained was converted into a tournament arena, corpses and all.
The content from the first bonuspack, also included, is:
Onslaught:
ONS-Adara
ONS-IslandHop
ONS-Tricky
ONS-Urban
Three new vehicles:
SPMA (Self Propelled Mobile Artillery)
The SPMA is a two person vehicle, with the driver controlling a long range artillery piece. Alt-fire deploys the spotter camera. Enemies will want to shoot down the spotter camera as soon as they see it, to keep the SPMA from raining destruction from afar. An AVRiL at the spotter camera will automatically re-direct toward the SPMA if it ever becomes visible to the AVRiL.
Paladin
The Paladin is a defense focused vehicle, with a powerful energy projectile cannon and a defensive shield alt-fire. Firing the cannon while the shield is deployed will heavily damage nearby players.
Cicada
The two-man Cicada ground attack bomber is a powerful weapon against ground targets, but is easy prey for Raptors. The pilot can fire missiles, or use the alt-fire to specify a target. While holding alt-fire, multiple missiles are loaded up, and released when alt-fire is released. These missiles will all track toward the specified target location, so the alt-fire can be used to avoid enemy fire while loading up missiles. The second seat in the Cicada is an energy beam turret located on the belly of the Cicada. Its alt-fire is chaff that can be used to confuse incoming AVRiLs.
Six new characters:
Mekkor (Skaarj)
Mekkor is from the Black Fist Clan, sworn enemies of the Iron Skull Clan. Severely injured in battle, he is testing his new cybernetic armor in the Tournament.
Skrilax (Skaarj)
Skrilax is from the Black Fist Clan, sworn enemies of the Iron Skull Clan. Alongside his brother Mekkor, he was severely injured while fighting the Iron Skull Clan."
Barktooth (Iron Guard)
Barktooth would rather rip an opponent to shreds with his bare hands than fight from afar. He also finds close range Flak shots very satisfying."
Karag (Iron Guard)
Before joining the Iron Guard, Karag honed his weapon handling skills during a long stint as a Marshall for the Terran Colonial Authority. His style and panache already have the the Tournament audience abuzz."
Kragoth (Necris)
After an absence of several years, the Necris are preparing a return to the Tournament. Known as the Star Slayer, Kragoth is a dread Necris Phayder assassin. He is rumored to have single handedly killed the entire crew of an ICV Star Cruiser."
Thannis (Necris)
After an absence of several years, the Necris are preparing a return to the Tournament. Thannis is participating to scout the competition."

Sparklines for Java 1.2

Sparklines are intense, simple, wordlike graphics.
Theres a PHP library for producing sparklines, and even a sparkline web service, but I wanted something I could use to generate sparklines in both Java and JSTL (and I thought it would be a fun project). (Its also worth checking out Whys minimalist python sparklines, which encode the image data directly in the HTML as a data: URI [this library allows you to encode the images as using either data: format or javascript: format (supported by IE) in JSTL])
JSTL examples
< %@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" prefix="c" % >
< %@ taglib prefix="spark" uri="http://www.representqueens.com/taglibs/spark" % >
< c:set var="test" value="5, 35, 22, 19, 16, 10, 4, 33, 9, 12, 27, 36, 22" / >
< img src="< spark:bar name="test" color="red" / >" / >
will produce:
(I think the default size might be a little large).
The "name" attribute specifies the key to find the data (Uses JspContext.findAttribute). It expects the value to be either a List , a Number[], or a String of comma separated int values. Its the only manditory attribute.
The other attributes are width, height, spacing, color, highColor, lastColor, output. You can replace "bar" with "line" to get a linegraph (note: highColor and lastColor are currently not supported for line graphs).
The color attributes can either be a color name (a field name from java.awt.Color), or a HTML hex color (e.g. #ff0000 for red).
Enhancements:
- This release properly URL encodes parameters for server generated sparklines.
- This fixes an issue when using hex specified image colors.
- The tag parameter "background" has been added as a workaround for IE6 PNG transparency.

ClockingIT 0.99.2
ClockingIT is a free to use hosted application, keeping track of all your tasks and the time you spend on them. more>>
ClockingIT is a free to use hosted application, keeping track of all your tasks and the time you spend on them.
Main features:
- time tracking & reports
- milestones & due dates
- tagging & search
- timeline & activity log
- notifications & rss
- no restrictions or limits
ClockingIT was created for fun, not profit, using Ruby on Rails.
Why?
It was created to fill a gap that presented itself while working full time as a consultant. Managing several projects across multiple clients, all wanting reports on progress, and remembering what to do, for who, became a chore. Thus, ClockingIT was born after 6 days of intense learn-as-you-go Ruby on Rails. It has since received quite a few make-overs and rewrites, but the basic idea and vision remains the same.
After giving up on consulting, we kept on programming as Ruby on Rails is a fun platform, and ClockingIT had turned into a usable application others might want to use as well.
Who?
The people behind ClockingIT are Erlend and Ellen Simonsen, a married couple living in Oslo, Norway. Erlend does all the programming, and most of the feature design, while Ellen does the interface design, graphics and colors.
How?
Were keeping it free, as were hosting on our own server, out of our apartment. We already had the internet link and server in place from other projects so we have no running costs, other than our time.
Enhancements:
- New features include task dependencies, recurring tasks, the ability to drag and drop folders and files, iCalendar feeds, email reminders, integrated installation/company/project-wide forums, more auto-completion, task grouping and sorting, and user avatars.

GiNaC is an iterated and recursive acronym for GiNaC is Not a CAS, where CAS stands for Computer Algebra System. more>>
GiNaC is an iterated and recursive acronym for GiNaC is Not a CAS, where CAS stands for Computer Algebra System. It is designed to allow the creation of integrated systems that embed symbolic manipulations together with more established areas of computer science (like computation- intense numeric applications, graphical interfaces, etc.) under one roof. It is distributed under the terms and conditions of the GNU general public license (GPL).
The project has been specifically developed to become a replacement engine for xloops which is up to now powered by the Maple CAS. However, it is not restricted to high energy physics applications. Its design is revolutionary in a sense that contrary to other CAS it does not try to provide extensive algebraic capabilities and a simple programming language but instead accepts a given language (C++) and extends it by a set of algebraic capabilities.
Enhancements:
- Bugs in fderivative::match_same_type(), expairseq::match(), expand_dummy_sum(), and expairseq::map() have been fixed, and the C source output has been slightly improved.
- Problems when compiling with GCC 4.2 have been resolved.

. Glib::MakeHelper->postamble_docs (@main::xs_files)
. Glib::MakeHelper->postamble_rpms (
MYLIB => $build_reqs{MyLib},

}
The Makefile.PL for your typical Glib-based module is huge and hairy, thanks to all the crazy hoops you have to jump through to get things right. This module wraps up some of the more intense and error-prone bits to reduce the amount of copied code and potential for errors.

SBaGen 1.4.3
SBaGen generates sounds that give an altered state of consciousness. more>>
SBaGen generates sounds that give an altered state of consciousness. The theory behind binaural beats is that if you apply slightly different frequency sine waves to each ear, a beating affect is created in the brain itself, due to the brains internal wiring.
If, in the presence of these tones, you relax and let your mind go, your mind will naturally synchronize with the beat frequency. In this way it is possible to tune the frequency of your brain waves to particular frequencies that you have selected, using of the four bands: Delta: deep sleep, Theta: dreaming and intuitive stuff, Alpha: awake, focussed inside, and Beta: awake, focussed outside.
It is also possible to produce mixtures of brain waves of different frequencies by mixing binaural tones, and in this way, with practice and experimentation, it is reportedly possible to achieve rather unusual states, such as out-of-body stuff, and more. See the books by Ken Eagle Feather, and the Monroe Institute site for more details. The Monroe Institute have apparently put 40 years of research into these techniques.
Centerpointe have also done a great deal of research into binaural beats, concentrating more on improving overall well-being and holistic functioning rather than reaching unusual states, and I recommend reading some of the articles on their site (look under "Site Map", for example their Special Report: "How The Holosync Technology Works" and their FAQ).
I should add that I have only read about the more advanced and unusual uses (OOBEs and so on). My own experiences have not reached quite that far, but still I feel that I have benefitted immensely from using these techniques over the last few years: from simply getting my head clear in confusing moments, to the energy boosts that come at times, to more general emotional clearing, and occasional very intense dreams (although not quite lucid).
So, SBAGEN is my utility, released as free software (under the GNU General Public Licence) for Linux, Windows, DOS and Mac OS X, that generates binaural tones in real-time according to a 24-hour programmed sequence read from a file. It can also be used to play a sequence on demand, rather than according to the clock, or to write a WAV file for playing later. Pink noise, MP3 and Ogg files (since version 1.2.0) may also be mixed with the binaural beats to provide background sounds. (Two files of randomly-looping river sounds are provided from version 1.4.0 onwards). This tool is ideal for anyone who wishes to experiment with these techniques and do research into this for themselves. (For those who would rather pay for a pre-packaged programme with support, I recommend taking a look at the Centerpointe site -- and see my disclaimer)
My original idea was to use this utility to play a programme of different tones throughout the night, hoping to improve dreaming and dream-recall, and then to bring myself up into Alpha rhythms to (hopefully) make a good start to the day. I am now using it more for shorter focussed sessions of about an hour, both during daytime and at night. However, other people have used this software in many different ways. For example, one person suffering constant pain from historical injuries appreciated the way that he could tune the frequencies very accurately to his needs to help him sleep better at night. Other more unusual uses have included: mixing the sounds in as part of musical compositions, and generating ambient sounds during live DJ sets or trance music.
Enhancements:
- Fixed problem when playing 7+ hour sequences with -SE or -L
- Warns properly if the WAV file limit of ~7 hours is exceeded, and truncates

TA Spring 0.75b1
TA Spring is an open source project developing a new realtime strategy game. more>>
TA Spring is an open source project developing a new realtime strategy game.
Spring is a full 3D RTS game engine with good balanced content.
Games can be intense and the engine allows some diverse strategies.
At this moment the Spring engine is capable to run most (all) content that was available for the Total Annihilation engine.
Around 8 high profile mods have been made to run specificly on the Spring engine.
Spring is mainly a multi player game engine.
Some light AIs are available but they are not really challenging at this moment.
Spring runs on Windows and is stable. The Spring Linux ports runs alright but it cant connect to other Windows clients (yet) so Linux users are limited to single player.
The developers try to make Spring run natively on different platforms. (Windows, Linux, Mac and *BSD) And (try to) add features that modders request.
Main features:
- High resolution maps, viewable from all angles and ranges
- Dynamic map with craters from weapon and unit explosions
- Work with unit files from Total annihilation
- Realistic 3D trajectories for weapons
- Fully 3D air combat
- Several camera modes to suit different tastes
- Mod switcher
- Lobby Client
Enhancements:
- LUA related changes
- AI improvements
- balancing improvements
- lots of bugs fixed
