intel-wings Driver 0.2

intel-wings Driver 0.2

The intel-wings project is a Linux driver for the Intel Wireless Series of input devices. more>>
The intel-wings project is a Linux driver for the Intel Wireless Series of input devices.
Somehow, Intel managed to avoid using the USB Human Interface Device standards with their wireless gamepads.
All other USB gamepads work out-of-the-box: plug it in, and the computer knows that it has an X axis, a Y axis, and six buttons. Not Intel. Thats where intel-wings comes in.
Wireless Series?
Yes, youve seen them. Everyone hated them. The keyboards were of poor manufacturing, the mice eat batteries like theres no tomorrow, and the whole system was ridiculously expensive. They were killed off by Intel several years ago -- after hitting the shelves and getting a lukewarm reaction, manufacturing was stopped, and support was terminated 18 months after release.
All of these complaints are valid. On the other hand, when used infrequently, the mice last a few months, and work great on a glass coffee table in my living room. (A newer wireless optical mouse wouldnt work.)
The gamepads are actually pretty fun, in my opinion: you can have a whole bunch of them attached to one base station, which is great for playing old console games with friends. You can get a complete set of devices for $10 on eBay, and with Linux-based PVRs becoming increasingly common, I find my devices to be a great addition to my living room.
Note that I wouldnt recommend the mice to anyone that uses their computer on a regular basis, but its easier for navigating menus than a remote control. In my opinion, the Intel Wireless Series devices on Linux PVRs are the way to go.
Enhancements:
- Preliminary keyboard support was added.
- The Intel wireless keyboards are at least partially functional.

Libelf 0.8.9

Libelf 0.8.9

Libelf lets you read, modify or create ELF files in an architecture-independent way. more>>
Libelf lets you read, modify or create ELF files in an architecture-independent way. Libelf takes care of size and endian issues. For example, you can process a file for SPARC processors on an Intel-based system.
This library is a clean-room rewrite of the System V Release 4 library, and is supposed to be source code compatible with it. It was meant primarily for porting SVR4 applications to other operating systems, but can also be used as the basis for new applications (and as a light-weight alternative to libbfd).
Enhancements:
- The data translator can now handle versioning sections with inconsistent data (as found on Solaris).
- Windows DLLs should work now as well.

Interactive Decompiler 0.2

Interactive Decompiler 0.2

Interactive Decompiler decompiles by the successive application of low-level refactorings, ultimately leading to high-level code more>>
Interactive Decompiler project is an interactive decompiler, where the user starts with an almost literal translation of Assembly code in C language, which he progressively decompiles by the successive application of low-level refactorings, ultimately leading to high-level C code.
Main features:
- Import Intel IA32 Assembly code, in the AT&T syntax -- the syntax normally generated by the gcc compiler for the Intel IA32 architecture.
- Visualize and export quasi-C language code.
- Provides a context-sensitive refactoring browser to a set of low-level refactorings.
- Visualize and manipulate the Control Flow Graph (CFG) and the Abstract Syntax Tree (AST).
- For developers:
- It has an extensible data type for program representation.
- It has an easily extensible architecture (new program metadata, new processors, new refactorings, or new visualizations can easily be added).
- It has an embedded language for describing refactorings and other transformation.
- It is possible to modify the refactorings while running the program.
Version restrictions:
- The IA32 instruction set is not yet fully supported, namely the floating-point and SIMD instructions are not yet translated.
- Not all refactoring are implemented, and some are only have a partial implementation.
- The data flow analysis performed in the refactorings focus only on register variables.
- The implementation of several of many necessary the refactorings is still missing due to lack of time.

Pin 2.0 Kit 7259

Pin 2.0 Kit 7259

Pin is a tool for the dynamic instrumentation of programs. more>>
Pin is a tool for the dynamic instrumentation of programs. Pin supports Linux binary executables for Intel (R) Xscale (R), IA-32, IA-32E (64 bit x86), and Itanium (R) processors.
Pin was designed to provide functionality similar to the popular ATOM toolkit for Compaqs Tru64 Unix on Alpha, i.e. arbitrary code (written in C or C++) can be injected at arbitrary places in the executable. Unlike Atom, Pin does not instrument an executable statically by rewriting it, but rather adds the code dynamically while the executable is running. This also makes it possible to attach Pin to an already running process.
Pin provides a rich API that abstracts away the underlying instruction set idiosyncrasies and allows context information such as register contents to be passed to the injected code as parameters. Pin automatically saves and restores the registers that are overwritten by the injected code so the application continues to work. Limited access to symbol and debug information is available as well.
Enhancements:
- This release supports Windows and Mac OS X for IA-32.

DIOTA 0.91

DIOTA 0.91

DIOTA is a dynamic instrumentation tool for Intel binaries. more>>
DIOTA (Dynamic Instrumentation, Optimisation and Transformation of Applications) is a novel method for instrumenting binaries.
The technique correctly deals with programs that contain traditionally hard to instrument features such as data in code and code in data.
The technique does not require reverse engineering, program understanding tools or heuristics about the compiler or linker used. The basic idea is that instrumented code is generated on the fly, while the original process is used for data accesses.
DIOTA comes with a number of useful backends to check programs for faulty memory accesses, data races, deadlocks,... and perform basic tracing operations, e.g. tracing all memory accesses, all code being executed, to perform coverage analysis, ...
Enhancements:
- removed READ_DEBUG statements

Swiftfox 2.0.0.4pre

Swiftfox 2.0.0.4pre

Swiftfox project is an optimized build of Mozilla Firefox. more>>
Swiftfox project is an optimized build of Mozilla Firefox. Swiftfox has builds for both AMD and Intel processors. The 2.0.0.1 release is based on Firefox 2.0.0.1.

The trunk is the most cutting edge of all the builds and is where Firefox 3 is being developed.

Branch builds are built from a code base that has been tested much more than the trunk and therefore should be considered to be more stable.

Swiftfox 2.0.0.2pre is from the 1.8 branch which is where Mozilla tests security patches and other minor fixes before they release the next Firefox update. If you want your security patches as soon as possible and require a browser built from a stable code base this build is perfect for you.
