Class::InsideOut 1.02
Class::InsideOut is a Perl module with a safe, simple inside-out object construction kit. more>>
Class::InsideOut is a Perl module with a safe, simple inside-out object construction kit.
SYNOPSIS
package My::Class;
use Class::InsideOut qw( public private register id );
public name => my %name; # accessor: name()
private age => my %age; # no accessor
sub new { register( shift ) }
sub greeting {
my $self = shift;
return "Hello, my name is $name{ id $self }";
}
This is a simple, safe and streamlined toolkit for building inside-out objects. Unlike most other inside-out object building modules already on CPAN, this module aims for minimalism and robustness:
- Does not require derived classes to subclass it
- Uses no source filters, attributes or CHECK blocks
- Supports any underlying object type including black-box inheritance
- Does not leak memory on object destruction
- Overloading-safe
- Thread-safe for Perl 5.8 or better
- mod_perl compatible
- Makes no assumption about inheritance or initializer needs
It provides the minimal support necessary for creating safe inside-out objects and generating flexible accessors.

Linux Multimedia Player 2.5
Linux Multimedia Player, is an yet another tiny Linux based OS. more>>
LiMP is a a tiny LIVE CD based linux distro, that loads into memory and works only in the memory. This is the easiest, simpler yet powerful distro that works in all computers (PIII onwards).
Linux Multimedia Player supports most of the known formats, let it be mpeg-I, or mpeg-II, or divx, or wmv,qt-mov,real video for video and for audio mp3,wav,wma, ogg, real audio. It has the auto detection of partitions (ide or sata or scsi), sound cards,video cards, network cards and supports all the the cards as of kernel 2.6.13. It identifies the Partitions and mounts in the folder START.
It has the network support, which can be configured inside the GUI. It also mounts the Windows Shares, Linux Smb shares in the folder START.
It is complete tiny OS, with menu driven option and requires no knowledge of linux. All in a embedded image file of size 35 MB that gives you the entertainment. It can be easily integrated into WINDOWS XP/2000/98/95 or in linux boot loader or boot from cdrom.
LiMP distro runs only from memory and so CDROM/DVD is free to use. LiMP is completely safe to use as it mounts the partitions (NTFS, EXT2, EXT3, REISERFS) and windows / linux shares in READONLY mode.
Computer Shutdown schedule for bed time listeners. It supports viewing encrypted DVDs (Zone set DVDs). User has to option to load his favorite language font, for viewing subtitle User can set his favorite skin for xmms as default so that it loads on startup.
It runs a vnc server and can be accessed remotely from any vnc client.
Enhancements:
- The kernel was updated to 2.6.21.1.
- ALSA was updated to 1.0.14rc3.
- Idesk, a desktop program, was added.
- Mplayer, conky, and openbox were updated.
- Xdialog was added, providing an even easier interface.
- LiMP includes compressed cache to give better performance (http://linuxcompressed.sourceforge.net/).

Class::InsideOut::Manual::About 1.03
Class::InsideOut::Manual::About is a guide to this and other implementations of the inside-out technique. more>>
Class::InsideOut::Manual::About is a guide to this and other implementations of the inside-out technique.
This manual provides an overview of the inside-out technique and its application within Class::InsideOut and other modules. It also provides a list of references for further study.
Inside-out object basics
Inside-out objects use the blessed reference as an index into lexical data structures holding object properties, rather than using the blessed reference itself as a data structure.
$self->{ name } = "Larry"; # classic, hash-based object
$name{ refaddr $self } = "Larry"; # inside-out
The inside-out approach offers three major benefits:
- Enforced encapsulation: object properties cannot be accessed directly from ouside the lexical scope that declared them
- Making the property name part of a lexical variable rather than a hash-key means that typos in the name will be caught as compile-time errors (if using strict)
- If the memory address of the blessed reference is used as the index, the reference can be of any type
In exchange for these benefits, robust implementation of inside-out objects can be quite complex. Class::InsideOut manages that complexity.
Philosophy of Class::InsideOut
Class::InsideOut provides a set of tools for building safe inside-out classes with maximum flexibility.
It aims to offer minimal restrictions beyond those necessary for robustness of the inside-out technique. All capabilities necessary for robustness should be automatic. Anything that can be optional should be. The design should not introduce new restrictions unrelated to inside-out objects, such as attributes and CHECK blocks that cause problems for mod_perl or the use of source filters for syntatic sugar.
As a result, only a few things are mandatory:
- Properties must be based on hashes and declared via property
- Property hashes must be keyed on the Scalar::Util::refaddr
- register must be called on all new objects
All other implementation details, including constructors, initializers and class inheritance management are left to the user (though a very simple constructor is available as a convenience). This does requires some additional work, but maximizes freedom. Class::InsideOut is intended to be a base class providing only fundamental features. Subclasses of Class::InsideOut could be written that build upon it to provide particular styles of constructor, destructor and inheritance support.

Alpha Shooter 0.0.3
Alpha Shooter is a 3D OpenGL first-person shooter game with a sci-fi setting. more>>
Alpha Shooter is a 3D OpenGL first-person shooter game with a sci-fi setting.
Alpha Shooter was born as a project for the Computer Graphics course at the University of Bologna.
The main objective was to develop a very simple 3D game using the OpenGL, GLU and GLUT libraries only (and some creativity). Emphasis was not placed on the game itself, rather on learning how to use the libraries to produce a 3D environment and interact with it; it was thus required to build a suitable scenery using polygonal meshes and quadric surfaces, appropriate textures and materials, lights, and effects.
According to my personal taste I chose a sci-fi setting, trying to reproduce an environment that could remind players of a warehouse or loading area located inside a space ship or space station, like those often seen in movies or commercial videogames (of course I was aware of the limits of my implementation). I focused development on a single room, with an outside view, for ease of development (it was my very first attempt at graphics programming) and because it was enough to make use of a wide set of elements of OpenGL, consistently with the project requirements.
The game I wrote was inspired to the First Person Shooter genre, in which the player can move around in a 3D environment, looking around freely through the eyes of the played character, interacting (in very limited ways) with some of the objects present, shooting crates and barrels and some holographic targets.
I had a lot of fun creating that simple game, so after I got my Masters Degree I decided it would be a waste to just leave it hidden in some obscure directory at home; it is now here, released as Free Software, so that I can keep working on it and improving it, with help from whoever will be interested, in the hope that it will be useful as an example on how to get started in computer graphics and games development.
Enhancements:
- Binary packages were created for all supported operating systems, including a Windows installer, an i386 Debian Linux package, and a PowerPC Mac OS X DMG disk image.
- Additionally, the improved persistent mouse movement mode uses a dynamic mouse cursor that shows direction and speed of rotation, making that movement mode more intuitive and useful.
- Several minor bugs have also been fixed.
<<lessAlpha Shooter was born as a project for the Computer Graphics course at the University of Bologna.

INSERT 1.3.9b
INSERT aims to be a multi-functional, multi-purpose disaster recovery and network analysis system. more>>
INSERT (the Inside Security Rescue Toolkit) aims to be a multi-functional, multi-purpose disaster recovery and network analysis system. It boots from a credit card-sized CD-ROM and is basically a stripped-down version of Knoppix. It features good hardware detection, fluxbox, emelfm, links-hacked, ssh, tcpdump, nmap, chntpwd, and much more.
INSERT provides full read-write support for NTFS partitions (using captive), and the ClamAV virus scanner (including a fairly recent signature database and a GUI). It also has a network boot facility.
Main features:
- full read-write support for NTFS-partitions using captive
- support for various file system types: EXT2,EXT3,MINIX,REISERFS,JFS,XFS,NTFS,FAT,MSDOS,NFS,SMBFS,NCPFS,UDF,UFS,HFS,HFS+
- support for linux software RAID and LVM
- support for WLAN adapters
- network analysis (e.g. nmap, tcpdump)
- disaster recovery (e.g. parted, gpart, partimage, testdisk, recover)
- virus scanning (Clam Antivirus)
- computer forensics (e.g. chkrootkit, rootkit hunter)
- surf the internet (e.g. links-hacked, AxY FTP)
- network boot server to boot network boot enabled clients that cannot boot from the CD
- based on Linux kernel 2.4.27 and Knoppix 3.6
