xmms-agent 0.3.1

xmms-agent hides XMMS into system tray and allows controlling it from tray icons popup menu. more>>
xmms-agent hides XMMS into system tray and allows controlling it from tray icons popup menu.
This application is written in some minutes for my own need, so dont expect it would some case of great stuff.
Id tried to find similar thing for XMMS, but I couldnt, so once Ive just decided to make my own wrapper.
Ill be glad if youll find this program useful.
Installation:
The simplest way to compile this package is:
1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself.
Running `configure takes a while. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.
2. Type `make to compile the package.
3. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.
4. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean.
Enhancements:
- Pretty little improvement: now xmms pops up on active desktop.

freeglut 2.2.0

freeglut 2.2.0

freeglut is an OpenSourced clone of the GLUT library. more>>
freeglut is a completely OpenSourced alternative to the OpenGL Utility Toolkit (GLUT) library. GLUT was originally written by Mark Kilgard to support the sample programs in the second edition OpenGL RedBook.

Since then, GLUT has been used in a wide variety of practical applications because it is simple, widely available and highly portable.

GLUT (and hence freeglut) allows the user to create and manage windows containing OpenGL contexts on a wide range of platforms and also read the mouse, keyboard and joystick functions.

freeglut is released under the X-Consortium license.

The original GLUT library seems to have been abandoned with the most recent version (3.7) dating back to August 1998. Its license does not allow anyone to distribute modified library code.

This would be OK, if not for the fact that GLUT is getting old and really needs improvement. Also, GLUTs license is incompatible with some software distributions (e.g., XFree86).

Root Actions Servicemenu 1.1.3 / 2.0

Root Actions Servicemenu 1.1.3 / 2.0

Root Actions servicemenu is a replacement/alternate for the default Edit-as-root servicemenu. more>>
Root Actions servicemenu is a replacement/alternate for the default Edit-as-root servicemenu.
It allows an admin user to perform several root only actions from konqueror (It of course asks for a password)
Usage:
The following actions can be performed (see the screenshot):
Edit as Text: Open file in Kate editor as root (shown with files)
Edit as Hex: Open file in KHexEdit (you may need to install khexedit package from universe) editor as root (shown with files)
Open in Konqueror: Open file/folder in root konqueror window
Change owner to root: Changes ownership to root:root
Change owner to user: Changes ownership to 1000:1000 (the default user)
The menu can be localized by editing the servicemenu .desktop files
Installation:
uncompress the two .desktop files to ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus
Any comments, criticism and improvement suggestions welcomed.
Enhancements:
- As this seems to run as it should (and I havent gotten any show stopper bug reports), I feel courageous enough to remove the BETA status.
- Removed Preferred Applications section from the perl script. To change the default applications used by the menu, edit the desktop files instead. (This allows for different application preferences for different users and easy creation of custom Open with [application] entries to the menu.) See the README for customization howto.
- Fixed a bug with Rename when multiple items were chosen but the batch renamer application didnt start (the simple rename dialog was started instead).
- Added Dutch translation

RAVE 1.9.9

RAVE 1.9.9

RAVE (Retrospective Analysis and Visualization Engine) is a framework for generating complex analysis products. more>>
RAVE 1.9.9 is yet another excellent utility for everyone. RAVE stands for Retrospective Analysis and Visualization Engine which is a framework for generating complex analysis products.

RAVE caches the intermediate results of analytic tasks for later use in the same or different analyses. This improves performance by reducing duplicated effort when generating analytic results. RAVE users need to do nothing special in order to take advantage of this performance improvement.

The RAVE project provides tools to use RAVE interactively in a terminal, or to publish "live" RAVE analyses online as a network service for use in network-enabled applications.

CERT/NetSA has deployed RAVE to support analysis using the SiLK suite of flow analysis tools. They also distribute the libraries created to perform common flow analysis tasks using SiLK, such as efficiently using pipe-and-filter-based command-line tools from Python, dealing with heterogeneous data sources and efficiently retrieving time-series data.

Requirements:

  • Python 2.4 or higher

MonAMI 0.9

MonAMI 0.9

MonAMI is a friendly monitoring daemon. more>>
MonAMI aims to be a standard place for monitoring services availability and performance, talking to many different monitoring systems whilst remaining easy to configure.
MonAMI project has a plugin structure, making it easy to add new things to monitor, or integrate with new monitoring systems.
MonAMI uses a plugin architecture to allow it to be extended by developing new targets. Information is provided by plugins and delivered to different destination by targets.
MonAMI-core mediates the flow of information, collecting data from plugins when the data is needed and sending it to the correct destination.
Enhancements:
- Two new monitoring plugins for clusters: torque and maui.
- Big improvement to the Ganglia plugin: it now supports dynamic dmax values, a gmond.conf file parser, and is careful not to overload gmond.
- ksysguard is more conservative, only allowing local connections by default, fluidsynth handles disconnects better, nut has better parsing of error messages and handles disconnects better, and nagios allows the user to specify localhosts host name.

Vamos Automotive Simulator 0.5.7

Vamos Automotive Simulator 0.5.7

Vamos is an automotive simulation framework with an emphasis on thorough physical modeling and good C++ design. more>>
Vamos Automotive Simulator project, as the name suggest is an automotive simulation framework with an emphasis on thorough physical modeling and good C++ design. Vamos includes a real-time, first-person, 3D driving application.

Vamos is young and its goals are only partially met. I invite anyone whos interested to contribute.

Thorough physical modeling

Vamos models most major systems of a car. The drivetrain includes a simulation of the engine, clutch, transmission and a limited-slip differential. Tires and suspension are also modeled. If I missed something, let me know.

Good C++ Design

The geometry, track, car and world modules are in their own namespaces. Care has been taken to avoid cyclic dependencies. Standard Library components like strings, vectors and maps are favored over arrays. Some of the modules and classes have aged more gracefully than others. If you see a design area that needs improvement, feel free to pitch in.

rgen 0.1.62

rgen 0.1.62

rgen is a library consisting of random number generator and data accumulation classes. more>>
rgen is a library consisting of random number generator and data accumulation classes. Its envisioned purpose is in the development of Monte Carlo simulations where the ability to readily substitute a variety of random generators may be used to assess the influence of the underlying random number sequence on the simulation results.

Interfaces to Tcl and Python are generated using SWIG.

Although its quite a while since I started this project, I have been working on it in a somewhat ad hoc fashion, adding in bits and pieces whenever I come across something interesting which I think I could fit into the existing framework. Working like this means that things are probably not structured quite as they should be, class names are somewhat arbitrary (and a bit too long in some cases) etc. So, realising that there is lots of scope for improvement, Im very open to
suggestions and criticisms.

The FORTRAN interface relies on cfortran.h, which can be obtained from http://www-zeus.desy.de/~burow/cfortran/.

INSTALL:

See generic instructions in INSTALL file.

If you have trouble building the SWIG interfaces then you can disable the culprit(s) using the following configuration options:

--disable-swig-python
--disable-swig-tcl

You will need the Tcl interface to run the testsuite ("make check").
