IMDbPY is a Python package useful to retrieve and manage the data of the IMDb movie database about both movies and people.
Platform-independent and written in pure Python (and few C lines), it can retrieve data from both the IMDbs web server and a local copy of the whole database.
IMDbPY package can be very easily used by programmers and developers to provide access to the IMDbs data to their programs.

lzMovieDB provides a Web-based database for movies and series.
lzMovieDB is an PHP/MySQL Database script to sort and archive movies and series.
It grabs the user rating and movie cover from IMDB (Internet Movie Database => www.imdb.com).

Wuffs MovieDB is a MySQL-Database with a nice PHP frontend to catalogue DivXs, VCDs, SVCDs, DVDs, movies or anything else you might want to catalogue with cover art. Its based on MovieDB v0.6 by Brian Rhodes.
Just like MovieDB, Wuffs MovieDB is easy to setup and to configure.

MVideo is an advanced manager for your film collection.

MVideo manages a collection of films It uses a MySQL database to store all the information needed to manage all genres of movie archives.

It is written in C# and works with mono(c) and has some advanced features like retrieving film from iMDB(c) or Amazon(c).

This Perl script helps you to manage your (large) movie (DVD,DivX) collection.
aviManager attempts to find the best movie to watch. You will be surprised how good it works. There is also a nice imdb grabber for fast movie adding.

Movida is currently the first and only application of the OSDaB project.

Movida should help you organizing your movie collection, whatever media the movies are on (DVDs, MPEG-4 encoded files - like DivX or XviD movies, VCDs, VHSs and more).

A user-defined category may be assigned to each movie for better management. Movie info may be retrieved from offline resources like IMDb lists or online resources like the IMDb website, eventually through external plugins.

Movies may be exported to various file formats, including HTML (using templates) or CSV/TSV files. Everything is made using a complete yet simple user interface.

phpVideoPro is a program to manage your collection of DVDs, Video CDs, and video tapes. phpVideoPro project stores all data in a database, and provides you with features for adding/changing entries, displaying lists, printing labels and lists, and more.

An online help system is built-in to guide you when necessary, and an integrated user/session management protects your data against unauthorized access. Support for multiple languages is provided, and supported databases include MySQL and PostgreSQL.

This script is intended to automatic update some data in your phpVideoPro installation with information retrieved from the IMDB. You dont need it if you never ran a version less than v0.8.2 of phpVideoPro and always used the IMDB query window to retrieve all information, since it will just update the IMDB ID (where not set) and the rating (where not set) of the movies within your database.

The script was tested on 3 different installations by me during its development. The latest test was run against an untouched installation with $write_yt, $write_aka_yt and $write_yd enabled. From the over 500 movies w/o the IMDB ID set, it automatically updated about 270 movies correctly (which is more than 50%). While many movies just have not been identified, most have been matched perfectly - only 3 false positives (the script assumed them being matched, while they didnt match) have been encountered during the process - all 3 on the $write_yd issue (more on this later). So it saves you a lot of work if you want all/most movies have the rating values set.

The script itself makes use of the phpVideoPro "libraries" to do its job. This means, for many things it uses the settings of the given installation, e.g. concerning the IMDB cache and the like.

Backgroundimage Saver is a Firefox extension that provides help for an annoying technique that can be found on more and more pages. That is to hide images behind a transparent gif to protect them against being saved.

Examplepages that use this can be found at:

print.google.com (just try to save any bookpage that is displayed after selecting a book)

www.imdb.com (same here with any larger images that are displayed)

Because since these pages place a transparent gif on top of the real graphic you cant just right-click an image and select "Save Image As..." because then you would just save the transparent gif (which is probably not what you want.

So this simple extension just adds a Save Background Image option to the right click context menu which does the trick.

Furthermore it is helpful if you want to be able to directly save the backgroundimage, since Firefox does not offer this option by default.
