Eicq 0.8
Eicq is an ICQ client written in Emacs Lisp. more>>
Eicq is an ICQ client written in Emacs Lisp.
It runs in SXEmacs & XEmacs.
Eicq will not run in GNU/Emacs and we have no immediate plans for porting. Were all (S)XEmacs geeks here.
Main features:
- Eicq is written entirely in elisp
- Eicq uses version 8 of the ICQ protocol.
- Send/receive messages
- Send/receive URL type messagse
- Receive authorisation request messages
- Query ICQ users meta info
- Search for ICQ users
- Dynamically add new users to your contact list
- Play sounds for different events.
- Auto online after a auto away/na.
- Auto response away/na/dnd/occ messages.
- Different auto response messages if Eicq has idled away/na
- Auto reconnect if you are kicked off ICQ.
- Gnus style smileys
- Gnus style text emphasis (underline, bold, italic, etc)
- "Clickable" hyperlinks for URLs, email addresses, and Unix manual page titles
- mICQ style per contact history logs
- ERC/Riece style modeline activity indicator
- Works in both a GUI environment and on a console/TTY
- A dockable frame that tracks the number of unread messages.
- Interactive customisation through XEmacs Custom widgets.
- Key binding, "scripting" in elisp.
- Allow other users/contacts to psycho-analyse themselves
- Display X-Face/Colour Face header images in buddy buffer.
- An "oops" function
- Customisable semi-automation
Eicq cannot yet transfer files, chat, or anything that needs a direct peer to peer connection. This isnt a limitation of Eicq, but rather a limitation of (S)XEmacs. It requires server sockets and (S)XEmacs does not (yet) support this.

Nicq 0.4.2
Nicq, like the name suggests (NewICQ), is a new ICQ client for linux. more>>
Nicq, like the name suggests (NewICQ), is a new ICQ client for linux. But this aint a clone of the Mirabilis client, its a totally new interface and new way of using the ICQ IM protocol.
Welcome to the New ICQ client. The interface has changed since last bersion, but I think its for the best. Anyway, youll see by yourself. Ive decided to combine the way irc clients work with the ICQ protocol. Hope you like it.
Until I write a graphical window to change the plugin options, youll have o go in the ~/.licq/nicq_gui.conf file to modify options. When you install a new version and if that new version has new options, you should backup your options file and then delete it. Or you can manually add the options that are missing.
Enhancements:
- Changed the headers options: there are now a lot more configurable.
- Changed the location of the nicq_gui.conf file. It now resides into: ~/.nicq/ . Make sure to create that directory as indicated in the INSTALL File.
- Fixed some bugs;

Net::ICQ 0.16
This is a set of Perl modules that allow you to access the ICQ Instant Messaging. more>>
This is a set of Perl modules that allow you to access the ICQ Instant Messaging. These modules provide you access to creating/receiving messages, writing clients, etc.
After unzipping and untarring the distribution directory, you should be running these commands to install it:
perl Makefile.PL
make
make test
make install
Enhancements:
- Implemented Nezar Nielsens META_USER patch, with some additions.
- Added Net::ICQ object as first param when calling handlers. (IMPORTANT - this will break your existing handlers!)
- Applied Robin Fishers patch for SRV_INFO_FAIL (300) and splitting off the privacy flags from status into a new field privacy. Moved privacy flags into %privacy_codes .
- Added connect(). Now new() does not connect on its own.
- Applied Robin Fishers fix for the weird case where we get V3 packets from
- the server.
- Fixed debug output of packets inside multis, so the events code number is
- printed.

ysmICQ is a console ICQ client for Linux, Windows, BSD, Solaris, QNX, Irix, PPC and BeOS among other operating systems. more>>
ysmICQ is a Free, open source (GPL license) console based ICQ client written in the C language. The project was born in the year 2001 when Mirabilis (AOL) introduced a new version of the ICQ protocol.
Full of humor and interesting features, ysm has an easy to use command line interface which allows faster communication with your contacts and provides many OS dependent comfortable options.
Main features:
- consoled based client
- ICQ protocol version 7 and 8.
- plaintext and encrypted (AES algorithm) message sending.
- plaintext and encrypted (AES algorithm) file transfers.
- contacts download and upload from/to ICQ servers.
- search features.
- invisible, visible and ignore lists management.
- fingerprinting of remote clients.
- sending/receiving of URLs.
- sending/receiving of contacts.
- OS dependent comfortable options.
Enhancements:
- patch for YSM_Thread_Sleep fixing a 10% cpu usage.
- patch for getline, fixing support for umlauts.
- patch for the CtrlHandler under unix.
- blind fix for the Age field on the whois command. It sometimes showed up negative, changed d to %ud lets see if its fixed now, couldnt find any erroneous test case.
- fixed crash on del command. duplicate (erroneous cfg) entries in the config lead to a crash when deleting that slave name. Thanks to f00li5h for reporting the problem.
- fix on COMMANDSFILE> . Any commands without arguments were being ignored.
- fix for readline! the inputrc file was only being read from ~/.ysm/inputrc. If that file doesnt exist its now read from the default locations.
