Eicq is an ICQ client written in Emacs Lisp.
It runs in SXEmacs & XEmacs.
Eicq will not run in GNU/Emacs and we have no immediate plans for porting. Were all (S)XEmacs geeks here.

Eicq cannot yet transfer files, chat, or anything that needs a direct peer to peer connection. This isnt a limitation of Eicq, but rather a limitation of (S)XEmacs. It requires server sockets and (S)XEmacs does not (yet) support this.

Nicq, like the name suggests (NewICQ), is a new ICQ client for linux. But this aint a clone of the Mirabilis client, its a totally new interface and new way of using the ICQ IM protocol.
Welcome to the New ICQ client. The interface has changed since last bersion, but I think its for the best. Anyway, youll see by yourself. Ive decided to combine the way irc clients work with the ICQ protocol. Hope you like it.
Until I write a graphical window to change the plugin options, youll have o go in the ~/.licq/nicq_gui.conf file to modify options. When you install a new version and if that new version has new options, you should backup your options file and then delete it. Or you can manually add the options that are missing.
Enhancements:

- Changed the location of the nicq_gui.conf file. It now resides into: ~/.nicq/ . Make sure to create that directory as indicated in the INSTALL File.

Licq is a multi-threaded ICQ clone written mostly in C++. Licq project uses an extensive plugin system to manage many different functions.
The main gui is written using the Qt widget set. Licq is distributed under GPL with some special QPL exceptions for Qt.
Development is very ongoing, with new features and bugs fixed frequently, so updates are available often. The current version should be very stable, but as with all software use it at your own risk.

Alicq is a pure Tcl/Tk implementation of ICQ client. Alicq has flexible modularized architecture, support for ICQv8 (ICQ2000/OSCAR) protocol.

icqlib is the most feature complete, open source, library implementation of Mirabilis ICQ protocol available on the Internet. icqlib currently is supporting approximately 90% of the ICQ UDP v5 protocol and 80% of the ICQ TCP v2 protocol, including new UIN registration, chat, and file transfer.

This is a small licq-plugin, which uses libxosd2 to display new arriving messages as OSD (On Screen Display) text on your desktop. I wrote this, as I saw this feature in sim and wanted to have the same functionality in licq.
