HuaRongDao 0.1

HuaRongDao project is an ancient Chinese puzzle game. more>>
HuaRongDao project is an ancient Chinese puzzle game.

The puzzle "HuaRongDao" has been the most popular puzzle in China for hundreds years. It came from part of the well-know story "The legend of three kingdoms".

At the end of Han Dynasty (about 200 AC.), China was divided into three kingdoms, Wei, Shu and Wu. "Caocao", the leader of Wei, wanted to unit China, however, was totally defeated at "ChiBi" by the allies of Shu and Wu. Only he and other 30 people escaped from HuaRongDao and came back to Wei.

After about 30 years, China was still united by Wei (named Jin at that time) into one country.

Its aim is to move pieces on the board in order to move the largest one to the center of the bottom. It is a very small game, and it is very challenging. This implementation is based on the curses library.

The game is controlled by keyboard only. Its features include undo, redo, and bookmarks. Custom starting patterns are also supported.

Archive sort 0.1

Archive sort 0.1

Archive sort is a bash script that sorts directories into manageable 4.4GB directories for the purpose of archiving onto DVDs. more>>
Archive sort is a bash script that sorts directories into manageable 4.4GB directories for the purpose of archiving onto DVDs.

It is useful if you have several tens or hundreds of GBs of data to archive. It can also be configured to sort into 700MB directories for archiving onto CDs.

Usage: ./archive-sort [-h] [-s SIZE] [-t] [-v] SOURCE DEST

Archive files from directory DEST to new directory SOURCE in 4.4GB chunks,
or any SIZE specified by the user.

This script has not been tested extensively, so it is recommended that you make a copy of the directory you want to archive, then run the script on that directory. Always use the -t (test) option first and carefully read the output before using the script.

Optional arguments.

-h Print this help message.
-s Size of the archive media (default 4.4 GB)
-t Test run with verbose messages.
-v Verbose

Examples:

First cd to directory containing directories to be archived:

cd /home/user/archive
archive-sort . ../disc01

This is useful if you have several large directories under /home/user/archive, but no files. The archive directory will not be included in disc01.

If you have a directory full of lots of files, then cd to the parent directory of the directory that needs to be archived:

cd /home/user
archive-sort archive disc01

Build Order Analyzer 2.0

Build Order Analyzer 2.0

Build Order Anlyzer for the Axis & Allies RTS is a tool for analyzing builds in the Axis & Allies RTS game. more>>
Build Order Anlyzer for the Axis & Allies RTS is a tool for analyzing builds in the Axis & Allies RTS game. Many sites go to great lengths to explain Build Orders, but the Build Order Analyzer is the first tool to actually allow players the ability to define a Build Order and then compare it to other Build Orders over time.

Key Facts to know about the Build Order Analyzer:

Only tool of its kind
Can support multiple types of RTS based games (not just Axis & Allies RTS!)
Built on Java technology & open source software

The Build Order Anlyzer 2.0 for Axis & Allies RTS is a tool for analyzing builds in the Axis & Allies RTS game. Wikipedia has a great defnition for a Build Order. To summarize, a Build Order in an RTS game defines the order in which a player builds their buildings, units, and upgrades. Understanding the timing and affect of various build trees is critical in making the appropriate tactical decisions during the game.

The BOA allows a player to build and analyze multiple Build Orders without playing a game. Lose to a player due to their build? Then plug it into the BOA and figure out a build to counter it! Gamers no longer have to play game, after game, after game to figure out a decent counter to another players Build Order, they can use the BOA to figure it out. The BOA can literally save serious gamers hundreds of hours of game play!

SDL Fungus is an addictive, multiplayer puzzle game based on NetFungus for two to four players. more>>
SDL Fungus is an addictive, multiplayer puzzle game based on NetFungus. Up to four players can play by trying to surround and capture each others fungus.

Currently only the multiplayer mode on a single computer works. I plan on cleaning up the code and releaseing it under the GNU GPL before adding networked multiplayer or AI. Also, a MacOS X port should come soon.

All comments are welcome. There are probably hundreds of bugs. Also, the program uses SDL.

Controls

- To rotate the piece you want to place, press space.
- To skip your turn, press tab.
- To bite press control and then click on the fungus blocks that you want to bite. After you have selected press control again or press space to cancel the bite.

FlashBack is a flashcard scheduler based on a variant of Sebastian Leitners method.

It allows one to create and review simple (text only) flash cards. It supports Unicode and complex scripts (via Pango). A simple, tab-separated cardfile format is used.

Language learning Its important to realise that no sophisticated flashcards review scheduling alone can teach you the language: use FlashBack or some other flashcards software to drill first couple of hundreds of words and keep reading simple texts until you get used to the language and are able to read fast enough to train the languages only by reading.

Image Database 2.1

Image Database 2.1

KDE Image Database (KimDaBa) is a tool for indexing, searching, and viewing images. more>>
If you are like me you have hundreds or even thousands of images ever since you got your first camera, some taken with a normal camera other with a digital camera.
Through all the years you believed that until eternity you would be able to remember the story behind every single picture, you would be able to remember the names of all the persons on your images, and you would be able to remember the exact date of every single image.
I personally realized that this was not possible anymore, and especially for my digital images - but also for my paper images - I needed a tool to help me describe my images, and to search in the pile of images. This is exactly what KimDaba is all about.
With KimDaBa it is today possible for me to find any image I have in less than 5 seconds, let that be an image with a special person, an image from a special place, or even both.
There is of course no such thing as free lunch - with KimDaBa this means that you have to annotate all your images before you are set. KimDaBa is, however, highly optimized for annotating images, so annotating 100 images in 10 minutes are no way impossible.
Enhancements:
- BUGFIX: Using kapp->invokeHelp to show help rather than kapp->invokeBrowser, as the later doesnt work unless your default browser is konqueror.
- BUGFIX: the category was sometimes shown twice in the status bar
- BUGFIX: remove tokens didnt work for KDE 3.4

HAVEGE 1.0

HAVEGE 1.0

HAVEGE (HArdware Volatile Entropy Gathering and Expansion) is a user-level software unpredictable random number generator. more>>
HAVEGE (HArdware Volatile Entropy Gathering and Expansion) is a user-level software unpredictable random number generator for general-purpose computers that exploits these modifications of the internal volatile hardware states as a source of uncertainty. During an initialization phase, the hardware clock cycle counter of the processor is used to gather part of this entropy: tens of thousands of unpredictable bits can be gathered per operating system call in average.

HAVEGE combines on-the-fly hardware volatile entropy gathering with pseudo-random number generation. The internal state of HAVEGE includes thousands of internal volatile hardware states and is merely unmonitorable.

Therefore HAVEGE features a very high security level. HAVEGE can reach an unprecedented throughput for a software unpredictable random number generator: several hundreds of megabits per second on current workstations and PCs.

The throughput of HAVEGE favorably competes with usual pseudo-random number generators such as rand() or random(). While HAVEGE was initially designed for cryptology-like application, this high throughput makes HAVEGE usable for all application domains demanding for high performance and high quality random number generators, e.g. Monte Carlo simulations.

Gnusto 0.7

Gnusto 0.7

Gnusto is a Javascript-based interpreter for Z-machine adventure games. more>>
Gnusto project is a Javascript-based interpreter for Z-machine adventure games.

Gnusto is a Mozilla app which lets you play adventure games-- specifically, the hundreds of games both modern and ancient available in the Z-machine format.
You can try out the most recent version at the installation / release notes page. And we need testers! The more people who test it now, the better the program will eventually be.

Were very close to full standards compliance for version 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 stories, the most common versions. Longer-term ideas along the way are the ability to download stories from the IF Archive (with help from Bafs Guide), a disassembler (already written and awaiting integration), a source-level debugger for Inform, and possibly integration with the Inform tool chain to produce some kind of IDE.

The name "gnusto" comes from a spell in the Enchanter series. Its use in this project was suggested by Boluc Papuccuoglu in a thread about the project on rec.games.int-fiction.

Mauve 2.0.0

Mauve 2.0.0

Mauve constructs global multiple alignments of rearranged genome sequences. more>>
Mauve project is a system for efficiently constructing multiple genome alignments in the presence of large-scale evolutionary events such as rearrangement and inversion.
Multiple genome alignment provides a basis for research into comparative genomics and the study of evolutionary dynamics on a new scale. Aligning whole genomes is a fundamentally different problem than aligning short sequences.
Mauve has been developed with the idea that a multiple genome aligner should require only modest computational resources. It employs algorithmic techniques that scale well in the amount of sequence being aligned.
For example, a pair of Y. pestis genomes can be aligned in under a minute, while a group of 9 divergent Enterobacterial genomes can be aligned in a few hours.
Enhancements:
- This release includes a new, accurate, and sensitive genome alignment algorithm called progressiveMauve.
- Hundreds of genomes can now be aligned, and rearranged segments conserved in subsets of the genomes can be identified.
- A new annotation search can find features by things like gene name and others.
