Spike Proxy is an open source HTTP proxy for finding security flaws in web sites.

SPIKE Proxy is part of the Spike Application Testing Suite and supports automated SQL injection detection, web site crawling, login form brute forcing, overflow detection, and directory traversal detection.

To Use:

python spkproxy.py [ optional port argument, 8080 is default ]
Then set up your browser to use that port for both HTTP and
HTTPS proxies.

Then watch the traffic go!

VPNmonitor is a free Java tool to observe network traffic. Network administrators can use it to monitor VPN (PPTP and IPSec) and SSL (HTTPS) connectivity of wireline/wireless networks.

If you are using Linux this way you will run VPNmonitor:
1. Install libpcap 0.7.2 or above from http://www.tcpdump.org/
2. Copy Jpcap libraries to the jre directories:
cp net.sourceforge.jpcap-0.01.13.jar /jre/lib/ext
cp libjpcap.so /jre/lib/i386
3. su to root
4. Run VPNmonitor
java -jar VPNmonitor.jar

AudioMixer is a small Xforms based audiomixer, with a neat and clean interface. It supports OSS/Linux and OSS/Free, and features of most soundcards. A special feature is the ability to fade from one source to another which is useful for voice-overs during recording and such.
To install, type make, copy mix binary in path.
Or use the dynamic binary provided here... - move libforms.so.88 to
/lib or /usr/lib, and re-run ldconfig...
If you dont trust binaries, feel free to grab xforms lib from
http://bragg.phys.uwm.edu:80/xforms, and recompile yourself.

pysdl_mixer is a python interface to SDLs sdl_mixer.

This is usefull for multichannel sample and music playback from python. This project is currently being used by soya (https://gna.org/projects/soya/).

Starbucks Density Calculator, by Nat Torkington

Heres a pair of scripts from Nat Torkington, editor for OReilly Media and co-author of the Perl Cookbook.

Rael [Dornfest] discovered that you can easily find out how many Starbucks there are in an area by searching for "Starbucks". So I wrote a silly scraper for some old census data and came up with some Starbucks density figures. Theres no meaning to these numbers thanks to errors from using old census data coupled with false positives in Yahoo search (e.g., "Dodie Starbuck-Your Style Desgn" in Portland OR). But it was fun to waste a night on.

Here are the top twenty cities in descending order of population, with the amount of territory each Starbucks has. E.g., A New York NY Starbucks covers 1.7 square miles of ground.
