strongSwan 4.1.5

strongSwan 4.1.5

strongSwan is an OpenSource IPsec implementation for the Linux operating system. more>>
strongSwan is an OpenSource IPsec implementation for the Linux operating system. strongSwan is an OpenSource IPsec implementation for the Linux operating system.
In order to have a stable IPsec platform to base our future extensions of the X.509 capability on, we decided to lauch the strongSwan project.
Main features:
- runs both on Linux 2.4 (KLIPS) and Linux 2.6 (native IPsec) kernels
- strong 3DES, AES, Serpent, Twofish, or Blowfish encryption
- Authentication based on X.509 certificates or preshared keys
- Powerful IPsec policies based on wildcards or intermediate CAs
- Retrieval and local caching of Certificate Revocation Lists via HTTP or LDAP
- Full support of the Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP, RCF 2560).
- Optional storage of RSA private keys on smartcards or USB crypto tokens
- Smartcard access via standardized PKCS #11 interface
- PKCS #11 proxy function offering RSA decryption services via whack
- NAT-Traversal (RFC 3947) and support of Virtual IPs and IKE Mode Config
- CA management (OCSP and CRL URIs, default LDAP server)
- Dead Peer Detection (DPD, RFC 3706)
- Group policies based on X.509 attribute certificates ( RFC 3281)
- Generation of default self-signed certificates during strongSwan setup
Enhancements:
- Source routes installed by the keying daemons are now in a separate routing table with ID 100 in order to avoid conflicts with the main table.
- Route lookup for IKEv2 traffic is done in userspace to ignore routes installed for IPsec, as IKE traffic shouldnt get encapsulated.
- The ipsec starter has become more tolerant to dynamic DNS lookup failures by keeping the last valid IP address.

Apt-get Install / Remove Packet 1.0

Apt-get Install / Remove Packet 1.0

Apt-get Install / Remove Packet is a tool to install/remove packets with debian apt-get. more>>
Apt-get Install / Remove Packet is a tool to install/remove packets with debian apt-get.

About Apt-Get:

Advanced Packaging Tool, or APT, is a package management system used by Debian and its derivatives. APT was originally designed to work with .deb packages on Debian systems, but it has since been modified to work with RPM packages via apt-rpm, and to run on other operating systems such as Mac OS X (see fink). On systems with package management based on .deb, such as Debian, APT is a front-end for dpkg.

APT simplifies the process of installing and removing software on Unix systems, by automating the retrieval, (from the Internet, local network, or CD) the configuration, the compiling (sometimes) and the installation of software from APT sources.

There is no apt program per se; APT is a C++ library of functions that are used by several command line programs for dealing with packages, most notably apt-get and apt-cache.

APT front-ends can upgrade the system or specific packages. Packages can be installed or removed. When installing one or several packages, APT front-ends can list the dependencies of these packages, ask the administrator if packages recommended or suggested by newly installed packages should be installed too, automatically install dependencies and perform other operations on the systems packages to allow the installation of the packages. Similarly, to update one or several packages, front-ends can install, remove or update other packages.

APT is often hailed as one of Debians best features, giving Debian the reputation of being a "pain to install, but a joy to maintain", although with Debian 3.1 and its Debian-Installer, Debians installation might be too easy nowadays to keep this true.

kapt-get 0.3.4

kapt-get 0.3.4

kapt-get is a graphical frontend to apt-get, specifically for RPM-based systems. more>>
kapt-get is a graphical frontend to apt-get, specifically for RPM-based systems. kapt-get is not a direct drop-in replacement for the apt-get command, but it provides a good way to add a GUI to an otherwise command-line operation (in scripts, etc).

So, rather than typing "apt-get install foobar" for instance, you would type "kapt-get --install foobar." Another "key feature" is the ability to update the repository database as well as perform another operation in the same command. For instance, "kapt-get --update --dist-upgrade" will first run apt-get update and then apt-get dist-upgrade and give a GUI to the whole operation.

PerlQt 3.009b2 or higher is required to run this program. I highly doubt that it will run with an older version. apt-rpm is also required. It will not work with apt for dpkg, but Id be willing to accept patches. The whole app will be rewritten for 0.4.0 which may make it easier to add support for it.

To install, type "make" and then "make install" as root. There is no "configure" script, so there is no need to run ./configure.

TRANSLATORS NEEDED! If youd be willing to translate kapt-get into your native language, I would be forever grateful. Contact me if interested.

Autopackage 1.2.3

Autopackage 1.2.3

autopackage is a multi-distribution binary packaging framework for Linux systems. more>>
autopackage allows developers to produce "install anywhere" packages for 3rd party Linux software. The resulting packages support both graphical and terminal frontends, support dependency checking and resolution, and use deep desktop integration.
Additionally, tools to enhance the packaged software such as binreloc and relaytool are provided. By providing an autopackage, developers can ensure their users always have an easy way of installing the latest release of their software.
autopackage is stable, tested software that has been deployed by high profile projects. It has a strong commitment to backwards compatibility: your packages will continue to install as we add new features, although you may need to recompile them to get the new functionality.
Version 1.0 can build, install, verify and uninstall fairly complex packages (mplayer, gaim, inkscape etc), and promises backwards compatibility from this point forward.
Autopackage can resolve dependencies either from local files or from remote servers. It currently has simple support for package updates. It does not support integration with the native package manager although these features are planned for after the 1.0 release.
Main features:
- Build packages that will install on many different distros
- Multiple front ends: best is automatically chosen so GUI users get a graphical front end, and command line users get a text based interface
- Multiple language support (both in tools and for your own packages)
- Automatically verifies and resolves dependencies no matter how the software was installed. This means you dont have to use autopackage for all your software, or even any of it, for packages to succesfully install.
Enhancements:
- KDE not finding the hidden .desktop that associates x-autopackage -> autopackage-launcher-gtk on Fedora Core 3/KDE 3.3 - change Category to Categories in autopackage-launcher-gtk.desktop
- Package did not install with apkg-installer after executing .package with -d function stripDupedItems was updated to pass unit test autopackage RPM requires autopackage-gtk RPM function safeSed mishandled language detection for in-place editing
- Two desktop files were being generated - not correctly detecting if the Gnome version installed supports XDG .desktop locations
- Working directories were not being deleted makepackage checks for sealed packages not being included
