eeStock project is a Web application for managing an inventory.
eeStock is a free software which allows you to manage your stocks (items).
Its written in PHP4 and uses a PostgreSQL or MySQL database to store data.
Its divided in 2 sections:
- a user section
- an administration section
In the Stock managing section, users can:
.browse items by manufacturer, category, owner or location
.search items using a keyword
.borrow an item if this one is free
.return their items
.access to their profile
In the Administration section you can (if you have administrator or superuser rights):
.create, modify, duplicate, delete items

Install database
Create the eestock database (MySQL root user password required)
$ mysqladmin -h localhost -u root -p create eestock
Create the user "eestock" (MySQL root user password required)
$ mysql -h localhost -u root -D mysql -p < admin/utils/mysql/create_user.mysql
Create tables (MySQL root user password required)
$ mysql -h localhost -u root -D eestock -p < admin/utils/mysql/init_db.mysql
Edit file admin/config.inc to change the eestock user password.

Gnome::StockIcons is a Gnome 1.4 stock icons in XPM format.

These are the Gnome 1.4 stock icons. The original PNG files are in gnome-libs-1.4.1.2.90/libgnomeui/pixmaps. All names are identical but - is replaced by _. Currenlty, this only affects calculator-font.png (@calculator_font).
The module does not strictly speaking require Gtk, but its not much use without.

Montessori Bells project is a program that teaches children to discriminate musical sounds.

It is an instrument for playing musical airs by ear.

The bells are also a musical instrument for children to play. Because the Montessori bells are a lovely and extremely expensive piece of equipment to buy, we have made a software equivalent of the first few activities usually done with the bells.

We suggest that parents and teachers present and supervise the activities as they would the real bells. We think it will be worthwhile for adults to spend a bit of time familiarising themselves with our bells themselves before presenting them to a child, in order to avoid frustrating the child with any confusion.

We suggest that the bells be introduced at a stage when the child is showing interest in music or singing.

In our start mode, there are two rows of bells; the top row is white, the bottom row brown. Other than their colour, the two rows are identical.

Clicking on each bell in a row from left to right will produce the notes of the C major scale in ascending order. The bells cannot be moved in the start mode. The start mode can be returned to at any time by clicking on "Restart" at the bottom of the activity.

Tigerbooks project is a online book exchange.

Tigerbooks is an online book exchange designed for individual universities and colleges.

Students can post books for sale or browse for books to buy. Fulltext and ISBN searches are available.

There are other book exchange systems currently available. However, TigerBooks is an open source solution.

This means that it is freely available to any University or College that wishes to use it for its own students. Furthermore, any University or College can make contributions to the TigerBooks thus distributing its maintenance costs.

Maintenance costs are particularly important in academic realms as students are only at their institutions for the duration of their program. Being an open source solution means the Universities and Colleges do not have to worry about who will be maintaining TigerBooks in the years to come.


TigerBooks is a successful open source project and will see greater success in the future as it is distributed amongst Universities and Colleges. It is successful really for two reasons.

The first being that is meets the needs of students in exchanging their textbooks. The second is that it is open source and consequently is maintained by the open source community.

mysqlrowcopy is a tool that generates insert statements from result sets. It produces output similar to what might result from running mysqldump on a single SELECT query.

This project helps eliminate some of the tedium of moving data between QA and production MySQL databases.

Build:

To build mysqlrowcopy, you should run:

./configure
make

A mysqlrowcopy and mysqlrowcopy.debug file are created. They have identical functionality, the .debug version simply has debugging symbols built in (for gdb).

Since mysqlrowcopy is probably going to be I/O bound with modest CPU and RAM usage, the only reason to even build a 64-bit version is to work around potential issues in dynamic linking 32-bit binaries against 64-bit libraries.

1. Migrating a MySQL user account reaper from QA server to a production server.

e.g. MySQL database server qa3.example.com to prod1.example.com:

$ mysql -h prod1.example.com mysql < reaper.sql

You could of course simply pipe the output of mysqlrowcopy into mysql and skip the intermediate file.

(Dont forget to RELOAD PRIVILEGES afterwards)

2. Keep your test environment up to date. Populate it with production data every 24 hours. You could run this sequence from cron once a day:

$ mysqlrowcopy -h finance-db.example.com
