Hotstuff 0.9.2

Hotstuff 0.9.2

Hotstuff is a set of Perl scripts to automatically handle repositories for the creative data sharing functionality. more>>
Hotstuff is a set of Perl scripts to automatically handle repositories for the "Get Hot New Stuff" creative data sharing functionality present in KDE and several applications.
It handles both the traditional format and the new GHNS format as developed by the corresponding freedesktop.org project, and requires an SQL database to work.
Hotstuff project also includes a (simple) Web frontend for database maintenance.
Installation:
1) Prepare the database
2) Setup scripts and configuration
3) Optional steps
Step 1: Prepare the database
- only PostgreSQL is supported right now
- create a user and a database
- use hoststuff.sql and hotstuffadmin.sql to initialise tables
Step 2: Setup scripts and configuration
- copy hotstuff-conf.dist to /etc/hotstuff.conf
- enter database access data and other values
- copy the script hotstuff-scan.pl to some bindir
- add crontab entry for hotstuff-scan.pl
Step 3: Optional steps
- auto-generated providers.xml/stuff.xml files (documentation?)
- web interface (documentation?)
- admin web interface (documentation?)
- webservice gate - SOAP uploads/downloads (documentation?)
- protocol gate - HTTP/FTP uploads/downloads (documentation?)
Enhancements:
- This release adds support for SVN-maintained GHNS repositories.
- Checkouts are scanned for data files and added to the database automatically.
- Support for digital signatures has been added and is now present in both the scanners and the feed producers.
- Robustness has been increased by enforcing Unicode, using standard Perl modules to parse dates for version comparisons, and by counting downloads in real-time instead of relying on Web server logs.

HTBGUI 1.0

HTBGUI 1.0

HTBGUI is a Frontend application for HTB traffic manipulation routines on linux system . more>>
HTBGUI is a Frontend application for HTB traffic manipulation routines on linux system (maybe not only?). It is simply a frontend to IPROUTE/TC application. And gives you the power for setting up queue/classes/filters by clicking them up.

HTBGUI allows you to click-out not very sophisticated configurations by simply adding buttons on the program panel and selecting values for classes / filters and interfaces like in normal configuration procedure when working with iproute / tc. The main difference is that you can do it without reading documentation and gaining knowledge about HTB stuff.

This application was written in java - download the full directory below i dont know will it work correctly on your configuration , however if you will find some problems (surely you will) feel free to contact me jarod.nnoospamm@mpn.pl

Java is very a portable language. It should work anywhere where you can find java compiler

It was hardly tested on :

*Unix Solaris
*Linux
*Windows

operating systems
By testing i mean running front end - not trying to run iproute routines.

XMMS status plugin 1.0

XMMS status plugin 1.0

The XMMS status plugin provides a monitor for the state of XMMS which docks into the GNOME/KDE panel. more>>
xmms-status-plugin is a general plugin for the xmms mp3 player. It provides a docklet for the GNOME Status applet and the KDE panel.
Under GNOME 2.0 XMMS Status Plugin uses the freedesktop.org Notification Area specification. To use this you must add the Notification Area applet to your panel.
Under GNOME 1.2 XMMS Status Plugin uses the GNOME status dock. To use XMMS Status Plugin you need to add the status dock from the panel right click menu.
The KDE equivalent of the docklet panel applet is apparently on the KDE panel by default and the xmms-status-plugin has been reported to work under KDE.
Enhancements:
- src/eggtrayicon.c: Add some debugging stuff.
- src/gtkplugxembed.c: Remove loads of old g_print statements. Use gdk_window_(un)ref not gtk_object_(un)ref in several places.
- src/xmms-status-plugin.c: Be more careful with the timeout function to ensure it doesnt continue runnign when we exit, and the callback takes care of error conditions more gracefully.

oksh 0.2

oksh 0.2

oksh is a port of OpenBSDs version of ksh for Linux. more>>
oksh project is a port of OpenBSDs version of ksh for Linux.
The OpenBSD people have cleaned up and enhanced PD ksh with great features. E. g.
PS1=`u@h
works like under bash (try this with a standard PD ksh, like the one from NetBSD).
For Linux there were only the standard PD ksh and mksh from MirOS. Unfortunatly mksh was buggy and not entirely Bourne compatible and lacks the newest features of OpenBSDs ksh
So I ported the OpenBSD version of ksh to Linux.
Warning:This is a crude hack with some stuff from mksh and will only work on Linux, it hasnt been tested very well.
Enhancements:
- All mksh code was removed because of license problems.
- The source code was synchronized with the latest CVS version of ksh from OpenBSD.

SuperKaramba 0.39

SuperKaramba 0.39

SuperKaramba is a tool that allows anyone to easily create and run little interactive widgets on a KDE desktop. more>>
SuperKaramba is, in simple terms, a tool that allows you to easily create interactive eye-candy on your KDE desktop.
SuperKaramba is a tool that allows anyone to easily create and run little interactive widgets on a KDE desktop. Widgets are defined in a simple text file and can be augmented with Python code to make them interactive. Current widgets include everything from simple news headline displays to complete custom replacements for kicker, the KDE toolbar.
Currently SuperKaramba is made only for linux.
Theme writers create themes, or text files that define their widget. Then, they can optionally add python scripting to make their widget interactive. The possibilities are endless!
Main features:
- Display system information such as CPU Usage, MP3 playing, etc.
- Create cool custom toolbars that work any way imaginable
- Create little games or virtual pets that live on your desktop
- Display information from the internet, such as weather and headlines
The possibilities really are endless!
Enhancements:
- Themes now go to the background correctly when opening multiple themes at the same time
- itemDropped() callback now has x/y cooridinates
- Fixed the New Stuff dialogs installed status check marks for failed downloads
- Dont pop up the Theme Dialog when restoring a session and there arent any themes saved in the session
- Local themes can now be removed from the theme dialog, although we dont delete the theme out from underneath the user. It is delisted so that they can change their mind later and run it again.
- Downloaded themes from New Stuff get moved to trash:/ when a user clicks uninstall so they can restore it if they wish.
- Better checks for libknewstuff when compiling.
- Using New Stuff where theme authors post url links instead of file downloads will now open in a browser window for the user. Beware that closing this without downloading a package will still leave it as installed as far as New Stuff is concerned. (shortcoming of KNewStuff)
- new format options for things like kilobits, kilobytes and gigabytes as listed on our sensor information page: http://netdragon.sourceforge.net/ssensors.html
- Many new functions added and the examples of how to use them:
- callTheme - Pass a string to another theme
- changeInterval - Change the refresh interval of the theme
- createServiceClickArea - Create a Service-named Click Area Sensor
- getIncomingData - Get incoming data passed from another theme
- getPrettyThemeName - Get the pretty name of the theme
- getServiceGroups - Get KDE Service Groups
- getSystraySize - Get the size of the Systray
- getUpdateTime - Get last updated time
- managementPopup - Activates the Management Popup menu (i.e. SK right click config menu)
- openNamedTheme - Open a new theme giving it a new name
- removeClickArea - Remove a Click Area Sensor
- run - Execute a command with KRun
- setIncomingData - Set incoming data passed in another theme
- setUpdateTime - Set last updated time
- setWantRightButton - Set to 1 to deactivate management popups (i.e. SK right click config menu)
- setWidgetOnTop - changes on top status

SDL for AmigaOS 4.0 project is a port of SDL, the Simple Directmedia Layer, for AmigaOS 4.0. more>>
SDL for AmigaOS 4.0 project is a port of SDL, the Simple Directmedia Layer, for AmigaOS 4.0 SDL is a popular open-source API for games and other software that need low-level access to video and audio hardware and input devices.

SDL was created and is maintained by Sam Lantinga, but has had a legion of contributors of the years (see SDL credits). The AmigaOS 4.0 port was created originally by Thomas and Hans Joerg Frieden, but for the last two years has largely been the work of me, Richard Drummond.

Other contributors include Juergen Schober (who developed the audio layer). You can find may OS4.0 applications built with SDL at os4depot.net and some that I have built on my Amiga Stuff page.

PHAT 0.0.1

PHAT 0.0.1

PHAT is a browser-based network management solution. more>>
PHAT is a browser-based network management solution with a heavy lean toward switches, routers, and other traffic handlers which can be used to control either a single node, subnet, or vlan.
As you can probably see if youre reading this, PHAT is not the worlds most useful tool... yet. The reason I released this code in the first place was because I found myself in a vicious cycle: I didnt want to release the code until it was a little cleaner, a little more useful, and less dependent on site-specific stuff (currently, PHAT is quite reliant on NIS for example). However, I really havent had all the time in the world to devote to coding (Im also a sys/network admin), so getting PHAT to this presentable state has been tough (obviously, as I still dont consider it very presentable). I realized the only way to be useful was if I just released it for better or worse, and let people have at it.
Right now, the only things PHAT can really do depend on NIS, and MySQL. However, the NIS stuff should go away soon, and its not very hard to understand whats happening. Anyone with a decent level of networking and PHP expertise should be able to rip out the NIS stuff and replace it, or abstract the stuff altogether. The MySQL stuff will go away too, but not tomorrow or next week. As more people get involved who have more experience in dealing with ADODB or the PEAR DB stuff well move toward one of those.
In addition to reading this file, you really should read the source files as well, as I have a tendency to write really verbose stuff in there.
So, in a nutshell, I picked the release name "pseudocode" because thats exactly what PHAT currently is. Its a proof of concept. Everything has been done in a very brute force manner and has been tested just enough that theres some evidence that this stuff can work and I can demo it for a few interested local parties :)
At this stage in the game, ideas reign supreme. The only thing that rules over talking about ideas is coding prototypes for them.
Enhancements:
- PHP 4.x: As far as I know, any 4.x version works. I always use the latest version of PHP, and the version I used initially was 4.1x, I dont exactly remember which one.
-
- Apache: This has only ever been tested on Apache. UNIX/Linux: PHAT, at this stage, still makes a couple of systemcalls that are *nix specific. Its been tested on Linux and
- Solaris. This dependency should eventually go away.
-
- NIS: This dependency really has to go away. Abstracting the things PHAT uses NIS for right now is the first order of business.
-
- MySQL: I want to use the PEAR or ADODB stuff, but havent been overjoyed with either one. I dont want to have PHAT be dependent on any one database.

WMQuake 1.1

WMQuake 1.1

WMQuake can run Quake 1 in a dockapp window. more>>
WMQuake can run Quake 1 in a dockapp window.

It works pretty well. If you plan on doing netplay with this, you cant start a new game or join a game unless you first bring up the console and type: "disconnect". Then you can start a new multiplayer game or join an existing one. This is a bug that was present in the original source, and I left it untouched. There is no mouse or CD audio support, because they were not implemented at the time, and because I find both of these features extremely useless and not worth my time implementing.

Usage is simple. All standard quake1 command line options apply except winsize, which was removed. Feature set is close to that of earlier versions of quake 1 for linux which were handled by crack.com.

This is a complete software-only version, all traces of assembly code were removed. We are dealing with such small windows, it was really unnecessary. Internally, the engine renders into 320x320 buffer, which is then scaled down to fit inside dockapp. It isnt extremely pretty but it isnt so bad either. I could have done rendering into a smaller buffer to reduce CPU load, but then the statusbar would have to be disabled. And seems like the bare minimum size to render into has to be > 128 because of some calculation errors or something, with smaller window sizes the game would segfault very often.

Just what you always wanted. Hardcore quake fanatics can now enjoy their favorite game in a 64x64 window! Now works with FreeBSD, too!

Installation:

1. check Makefile, but there is probably nothing there to see.
2. make
3. copy wmquake to where you got your id1/ dir and stuff. Make sure that dir is all lowercase and the pakfiles inside are lowercase, too etc you know the standard routine.
4. ./wmquake &

DownloadHelper 2.2.1

DownloadHelper is a Firefox extension used for web content extraction. more>>
DownloadHelper is a Firefox extension used for web content extraction. Its purpose is to capture video and image files from many sites.

Just surf the Web as you are used to, when DownloadHelper detects it can do something for you, the icon gets animated and a menu allows you to download files by simply clicking an item

For instance, if you go to a YouTube page, youll be able to download the video directly on your file system. It also works with MySpace, Google videos, DailyMotion, Porkolt, iFilm and others.

When you are on a page containing links to images or movies, you can download some or all of them at once. Moving the mouse over the items in the menu will highlights the links directly in the page to make sure they are the ones you want to pick up.

DownloadHelper also allows you to download files one by one, so that you keep bandwidth to surf for other stuff to download.

If you are on a page containing video, but you dont get a download offer from DownloadHelper, right-click on the icon and choose "Check URL", requests will be done to http://videodownloader.net and http://keepvid.com. Allow a few seconds and new entries may appear in the menu.

Deepest Sender is a client that will allow you to post to blogs from directly within Firefox. The project is primarily a LiveJournal client, although it supports Blogger (GData) and WordPress (metaWeblog) too, with support for more stuff to come.

Note that the actual Deepest Sender website will always have the most up to date version.

If DS wont load for you in Firefox 2, and youre using a non-US English version (ie. British English or whatever), you will need to download a spellcheck dictionary in order for it to work. Non US English builds dont come with dictionaries.

If DS keeps loading in Russian and youre running SeaMonkey, check the LiveJournal group, it has a guide to solving the problem.
