nss-myhostname 0.1
nss-myhostname is a GNU libc NSS module that statically translates the local host name to the IP address 127.0.0.2. more>>
nss-myhostname is a GNU libc NSS module that statically translates the local host name to the IP address 127.0.0.2 (which is on the loopback device) and vice versa.
This is useful to make sure that the local host name is always resolvable. Some programs (such as sudo) require this functionality.
Especially on embedded systems it may not be desirable to modify /etc/hosts to match the current host name.
It is a good idea to put this module as last resort in /etc/nsswitch.conf, to make sure that other name service take precedence.

last played 0.3
last played is a small script that shows the last 5 files a mounted iPod shuffle played in shuffle mode. more>>
last played is a small script that shows the last 5 files a mounted iPod shuffle played in shuffle mode.
Since you look at this page, you probably own an iPod shuffle. If you are like me, you like to upload new music on it, set it to shuffle mode and enjoy. Yeah!
Until there comes a song you really love or hate, but your trusty shuffle lacks a display, so there is no way to know (other than to memorize some lyrics and google for them) which song it was.
Luckily, there is an easier way: last played is a small python script that will put the last 5 (or whatever you tell it on command line) files you listened to on screen. Now you can simply delete songs you hate and give 5 stars to songs you love.
I recommend putting the last.py on the root directory of your shuffle. You can then start it from there using
python last.py
on the command line.
last played is released under the terms of the GNU GPL.
Version restrictions:
- Since the iPod shuffle recreates its shuffle sequence whenever the end of the current shuffle sequence is reached, the script might return wrong results now and then. I have not yet tested it thoroughly enough to confirm it, sorry. However, this should not happen too often.
Enhancements:
- This version now (probably) finds a shuffle under MS Windows, and detects if the sequential mode was set, showing the right files in this case.

amaroK Last.fm tags 0.1.1
amaroK Last.fm tags script fetches your tags from Last.fm for artists, albums, and tracks. more>>
amaroK Last.fm tags script fetches your tags from Last.fm for artists, albums, and tracks. It stores them as id3v2 COMM tags in your music files and appends them to the comment for the given track in amaroKs collection where they can be used to contruct smart playlists.
So far this script only fetches your tags, it doesnt syncronize changes you make locally back to Last.fm. Probably this feature should wait until the implementation of "labels" which is coming in amaroK 1.5.
Also so far it is only possible to fetch tags for a selection within a playlist. The other context sub-menus just provide helpful messages saying that this feature isnt implimented yet.
As usual this software comes with no warrenty, it might eat your lunch, etc.. That said it works for me.
I owe a large debt of gratitude to Miguel Angel Alvarez whoes amaroK Replaygain script served as the skeleton of this one. Thanks Miguel!

MySpace Friend Renamer .86
MySpace Friend Renamer provides an extension that allows you to rename your MySpace Friends. more>>
MySpace Friend Renamer provides an extension that allows you to rename your MySpace Friends.
This adds a right click option to Myspace Pages and allows you to change the display name for any of your friends. Handy if your friends change names often, or pick strange and obscure names.
Also in response to comments. If a tab is not in focus when the page loads, the extension will not rename.
I believe that the extension will conflict with other extensions that change pages when they load. If I find a better way to do it, I will change it.

Randomplay 0.49
Randomplay is a command-line based shuffle music player that remembers songs between sessions. more>>
Randomplay is a command-line based shuffle music player that remembers songs between sessions.
Randomplay plays your music collection (or execute any arbitrary commands on any arbitrary filetypes) in random order, remembering songs played across sessions.
Randomplay also has many features to make command-line music playing more convenient, including recursive regexp searching for tracks and the ability to specify a certain number of tracks, bytes, or minutes to play.
Randomplay will also generate a list of music files to be loaded onto a portable music player device. It includes a random weighting feature, so your favorite songs are more likely to come up in the random shuffle.
Randomplay is a convenient tool for the user who does everything in an xterm window or console and is constantly devising complex find/grep/sed command lines to play just the right set of songs.
Following are some example invocations of randomplay to give a general sense of its flexibility; see the manpage for more complete information:
Play all ogg files in dir1 and dir2 under your home directory, and dir3 under the base directory specified in ~/.randomplayrc, which have not been played for 15 days in random order with 5 seconds between songs:
randomplay --days=15 --pause=5 --player ogg=ogg123 ~/dir1 ~/dir2 =dir3
Play all ogg, wav, and mp3 files under the current directory (or base directory, if specified in .randomplayrc file) which have not been played for 10 days in alphabetical order, switch the skip to next song keystroke to G or g and quit to q or c:
randomplay --norandom --key next=Gg --key quit=qc
Play all files under the current directory with the strings "frisell" and "bill" in the filename, in any order, (saves having to hunt down a file in a hierarchy), ignore whether the file has been played recently, but stop playing after 15 minutes:
randomplay --regexp frisell bill -0 --maxtime=15m
Display 100M worth of music files, randomly sorted, without recording the history of tracks, using the default music directory (or the current directory if not specified):
randomplay --maxsize=100M --noremember --names-only
Play the last 10 songs played over again:
randomplay --last=10
Play songs test.ogg, test2.ogg, test3.ogg, and all files in musicdir in random order without weighting preferred songs:
randomplay --noweight test.ogg test2.ogg test3.ogg musicdir
Copy 128M of songs into a Neuros Audio Player, using positron:
positron add randomplay --names-only --maxsize=128M
Pick a random jpeg or png file that has not been displayed in the last week from the images directory and display it with ImageMagick display command:
randomplay --player jpg=display --player gif=display --days 7 ~/images
Enhancements:
- New keystrokes for pausing and displaying all available keystrokes while playing were added.
- UTF-8 output for MP3 tags can now be disabled.
- A bug that prevented randomplay from working with sox was fixed.
- The documentation was improved.

Tk::PerlMethodList is a Perl module to query the Symbol-table for methods (subroutines) defined in a class (package) and its parents.
SYNOPSIS
require Tk::PerlMethodList;
my $instance = $main_window->PerlMethodList();
Tk::PerlMethodList is a Tk::Toplevel-derived widget.
The window contains entry fields for a classname and a regex. The list below displays the subroutine-names in the package(s) of the given classname and its parent classes. In case of imported subs, the last field of a row contains the name of the aliased sub as reported by DevelPeek::CvGV. Tk::PerlMethodList will not show subs which can be - but have not yet been autoloaded. It will show declared subs though. The Filter entry takes a regex to filter the returned List of sub/methodnames.
If the file containing a subroutine definition can be found in %INC, a green mark will be displayed at the beginning of the line. The sourcecode will be displayed by clicking on the subs list-entry.
Method list and source window have Control-plus and Control-minus bindings to change fontsize.
METHODS
Tk::PerlMethodList supports the following methods:
classname(A::Class::Name)
Set the classname-entry to A::Class::Name.
filter(a_regex)
Set the filter-entry to a_regex.
show_methods()
Build the list for classname and filter present in the entry-fields.
OPTIONS
Tk::PerlMethodList supports the following options:
-classname
$instance->configure(-classname =>A::Class::Name) Same as classname(A::Class::Name).
-filter
$instance->configure(-filter =>a_regex) Same as filter(a_regex).

Twocan provides a chat server in the style of ewtoo.
Twocan is a chat server that supports libz compression for connections. It also has real terminal support using termcap/ncurses and is extremely easy to configure.
To get the code to compile you should just be able to go into the src/ dir and type ./unixmake and type site at the prompt and then press return at the next prompt.
When you boot the program for the first time its configured to come up on a "random" port which it will display on the screen, you can change this (as well as most other things) by using the "configure" command as an admin after you logon.
To get a higher admin character you need to logon as the name "root" then type "su" twice (once to resident them and the second time to give them higher admin privs).
The name "Root" is the value of player_name_admin in the configure command (youll probably want to change it).
To create a system room youll need to grant a character the system room priv and then run the commands "room system_create" and "configure room_main" (the last to make the room the default main room ... although youll also want to invite everyone into the room, or they wont be able to get in).
Enhancements:
- The header wasnt being included because it used the same variable as the include header, doesnt really affect anything.
- backups_run.in: Spelling mistake.
- AUTHORS: Changed email address for richard sibley.
- make_talker_build.sh: Do ./pre_configure on the libs
- Removed the bit about ignore not existing, because it does.
