TopicEngine 1.19

TopicEngine 1.19

TopicEngine is an advanced topic management script for eggdrop bots. more>>
TopicEngine is an advanced topic management script for eggdrop bots. Its features are: fine-grained access permissions, multiple channels, shortcuts to commands, intelligent topic handling, learning, locking, and more.

Commands can be executed via public message (using !topic in a channel), query (/msg botnick topic #channel, or on the partyline (.topic #channel).

Wont change the topic if it would make it go over the maximum topic length for the network
Access can be limit by bot flags per channel or globally, and by IRC status (+o,+v). Users can be blocked if needed.

Supports prefixes and postfixes to ensure something is always at the start/end of the topic (e.g. channel homepage URL).

If a user changes the topic with /topic, will try to learn the new one so that future !topic commands work smoothly. If a topic is set without a pre- or postfix, the bot resets the topic with them.

Topic locking, so that it cannot be changed. If the topic is changed with /topic, the bot will change it back. TopicEngine uses the botnet to try to avoid a botfight with two locked topics.
he topic is reset after a netsplit to make sure all servers across the network have the topic.
Intelligent trimming of the topic to try to fit as much as possible into the available space.

Can learn a new topic if its set with /topic instead of through the bot. Automatically learns all the topics on active channels when joining them, and will update them to have pre- and postfixes if needed.

Fishbot 0.2

Fishbot 0.2

Fishbot provides a clone of the Qnet IRC fishbot service. more>>
Fishbot provides a clone of the Qnet IRC fishbot service.
Fishbot is an IRC bot service written in PHP. Its a clone of the original fishbot that Qnet uses.
This script is a "clone" of the real fishbot that is used on Quakenet. I dont know if it works exactly like the real fishbot, I just tested the real one on some commands and tryed to make something like it.
Original idea is from the IRCop splidge on Quakenet.
Its a fun-bot and build as a service, so it connets to your ircd as a service and try to do his job.
Enhancements:
- Fixed the on-join-empty-chan bug. When the bot starts at the first time it checks if the channel is empty, if it is, it will part it.
- Added a new command. You can use /msg help , and you should receive a simpel explenation of the given topic.
- Changed a little bit the script structure :)

PowerTop 1.7

PowerTop 1.7

PowerTop detects which Linux programs and kernel tunables are resulting in the largest power consumption and use of battery time more>>
PowerTop project detects which Linux programs and kernel tunables are resulting in the largest power consumption and use of battery time.
Power usage is a hot topic for computer users everywhere. For some, its a matter of how long a laptop lasts without being plugged in. For others, its controlling the temperature of hundreds of systems within a datacenter. For all of us, its about keeping the electricity bill under control and being kind to the environment.
Getting your computer to use the least amount of power can be problematic. This site provides information on reducing power usage, tips, and tricks for Intel-based computers running Linux*.
As a first step, Intel is releasing PowerTOP, a tool that helps you find what software is using the most power. By fixing (or closing) these applications or processes, you can immediately see the power savings in the tool. Youll also see the estimated time left for battery power if you are running a laptop. The Tips&Tricks page has fixes for a lot of the issues that are already found. Join our mailing list to participate in this effort to get Linux to use less power.
Building:
Just type make and then run the program...
tar -zxf powertop-1.1.tar.gz
cd powertop
make
./powertop
Enhancements:
- This release shows P-states (frequencies).
- A suggestion to disable TV-out and to disable Wake-On-LAN for unused ethernet has been added.

wmthrottle 0.1.1

wmthrottle is a dockapp for throttling CPU via ACPI.

A small app of questionable value (myself I use it to throttle the CPU when I perceive it is getting too hot. At the moment the code is optimized for a dell laptop but should work on most ACPI systems.

Remember throttling is not the same as performance, but has its own advantages.

Also remember that playing around with your CPU etc can be a bad thing so saying
standard I take no responsibility for damage to your machine disclaimer applies.

The Tcl IRCd 0.1a

The Tcl IRCd 0.1a

The Tcl IRCd provides an IRC server written in Tcl. more>>
The Tcl IRCd provides an IRC server written in Tcl.
The Tcl IRCd is a small IRC server written in Tcl. It is very simple to modify. It is not a full implementation of the IRC protocol, but its enough to create channels, talk in public or private, change topic, nick, and other basic operations. No configuration is required.
The server is designed so that it can reload an updated version of itself at runtime without closing client connections.
The goal of the Tcl IRCd is to provide a simple implementation of an IRC server available in Tcl (thats also the language used to script the eggdrop), immune to buffer overflows or other security problems not affecting dynamic languages like Tcl.
The Tcl IRCd is a fun project, but if I found some time Ill try to release new versions with more features.
Enhancements:
- A number of stability problems fixed.

TMHarvest 0.1 Pre1

TMHarvest 0.1 Pre1

TMHarvest provides a tool which harvests topicmaps from structured datasources. more>>
TMHarvest provides a tool which harvests topicmaps from structured datasources.
The TMHarvest library is based on TM4J and provides a convenient way to automatically generate topic maps from different data sources. A rules files with embedded templates (written in XML) defines from which data sources topic map constructs should be taken into account, as well how new or existent topics should be associated.
Main features:
- TMHarvest creates topic maps from existing data sources. Currently it supports the following source-types: SQL-Databases, CSV-Files, XPath-Queries. In addition it is possible to integrate custom model-providers, written in Java. See for details.
- The harvesting is driven by a model-file. The model may be processed as often as you like. Since the data sources are queried at processing time, it is possible to build topic paps periodically in order to reflect changing content.
- The model-file has a modular setup. The resulting topic map is populated step by step from distinct templateActions. The static parts of the topic map (the structural parts, for example the topics that define the ontology of the topic map) may be merged from static files and therefore seperated from the actual harvest.
Pros and Cons
The process which creates the topic map is serialized in the model-file. Once the process is defined, it runs as often as you like. This enables the creation of topic maps, that are refreshed periodically in an automated way.
Working with the templates leads to a certain interactive experience. Shaping the model, letting TMHarvest run, revisiting the results, reshape the model... let you converge the final form
The fact that the model-file must be written by hand, excludes many users, which lack the necessary technical affinity. The development of graphical interfaces or wizards would be really helpful.

Monalo Toolbar 0.93

Monalo Toolbar is a Firefox extension that shows RSS feed headlines directly in the toolbar and more... more>>
Monalo Toolbar Firefox extension lets you:

1) Show RSS feed headlines directly in the toolbar with a slick fade-in effect. You can also select from a list of topics (i.e. Technology, Video Gaming, Star Wars) to get headlines from feeds relating to the chosen topic.
2) Be notified when there are updates to RSS feeds you wish to monitor.
3) Share links with friends/family/the world.

There are many other features, such as the ability to create your own topic-based "channel" (with RSS) from a mashup of related RSS feeds. So, for example, you could create an "IT Podcasts" channel which would display all the latest (and most popular) IT podcasts from around the web.

The rest is left for you to discover.
