MobiLog! is an incredibly useful open source tool for moblogging (mobile weblogging). more>>
MobiLog! is an incredibly useful open source tool for moblogging (mobile weblogging).
MobiLog! project works like this: Once set up, you simply send an email using your cell phone (or other mobile device, such as a PDA) to a specified email address.
Within minutes, whatever you sent will automatically appear on your site. With support for image attachments, you can even use your cell phones built-in camera to post a picture online - without the need to be at your computer.
Moblogging is an increasingly popular way to keep your sites visitors in touch with what you are doing while away from the computer.
Most current mobloggers are hobbyists or journalists, with the relative lack of easy-to-use tools keeping moblogging out of the mainstream. The goal of MobiLog! is to make it easier for anyone to maintain a mobile weblog while on the road.
Main features:
- Mobile submission of moblog entries from any email-capable device (cell phone, PDA,etc).
- Entry submission security (ie. password protection).
- PHP-based moblog entry archive.
- GIF/JPEG/PNG image support.
- Thumbnail creation using ImageMagick (optional).
- Atom v1.0 feed generation.

RobotFlow 0.2.6
RobotFlow is a mobile robotics tookit based on the FlowDesigner project. more>>
RobotFlow is a mobile robotics tookit based on the FlowDesigner project. FlowDesigner is a data-flow oriented architecture, similar to Simulink (Matlab) or Labview that is free (LGPL) and versatile.
The visual programming interface provided in the FlowDesigner project will help people to better visualize & understand what is really happening in the robots control loops, sensors, actuators, by using graphical probes and debugging in real-time.
The work on RobotFlow has begun in september 2001 as an University of Sherbrooke project in the Mobile Robotics and Intelligent Systems Laboratory (LABORIUS). The work on the project still continues and will become available to everybody through SourceForge as a LGPL project.
We hope with this toolkit to create a standard & open platform that all people from hobbyists to researchers could use and improve over time. It primarily supports Linux/Unix using the GNOME GUI.
The FlowDesigner & the Robotflow toolkit are written in C++ and provide fully customizable control and processing blocks :
- Drivers & interfaces for Pioneer2 Robots
- Vision processing algorithms (color training & tracking, etc.)
- Player / Stage simulator drivers for FlowDesigner/RobotFlow
- Signal processing algorithms (audio + video)
- Basic Behaviors
- Fuzzy Logic control
- Artificial Neural Networks
- Embedded super blocks (subnets, iterators)
- Basic networking (TCP/IP, broadcast)
- Device control (Sony EVI-D30, SICK lasers, etc.)
- Finite State Machine (beta)
Networks created with the visual interface called "flowdesigner" can also be run as scripts (with no graphical interface), enabling robots with lower resources to fully take advantage of FlowDesigner / RobotFlow. FlowDesigner provides an easy way to create your own data types/structures and blocks as toolkits.
Enhancements:
- This release was updated to work with FlowDesigner 0.9 and MARIE 0.4.
- A RobotFlow namespace was created.
- OpenCV 0.9.6 library support with image tracking (text, color, features) and face tracking algorithms was added.
- New behaviors are included.
- Configure scripts were updated.
- The SNCRZ30 RS-232 driver was fixed.

BullDog Firewall 7
BullDog is a powerful but lightweight firewall for heavy use systems. more>>
BullDog is a powerful but lightweight firewall for heavy use systems. With many features, this firewall can be used by anyone who wants to protect his/her systems. This system allow dynamic and static rules sets for maximum protection and has several advance features.
This firewall will work for the hobbyist or a military base. Generation 7 is a complete rewrite of its predecesors and is redesigned from scratch and still evolving.
Be prepared to spend some time setting this up. If you are looking for a "quick fix", then you are on the wrong site. BullDog is NOT a quick fix, but rather one step in a complete security policy.
Its is covered by the GPL and is FREE and always will be. I encourage and welcome anyone who wants to port and/or provide ideas/code to better this software.
I would like to see this software developed into a new breed of firewall that provides the best of security with ease of use.
This software was developed on Linux v2.2.16-17 and v2.4 with 64 megs to 1 Gig of RAM and supports iptables via the ip_queue kernel module. Bulldog will NOT run on Windows systems.

Fight Win Prevail 0.0.8
Fight Win Prevail (or FWP for short) is a hobbyist multiplayer first person shooter. more>>
Fight Win Prevail (or FWP for short) is a hobbyist multiplayer first person shooter. Fight Win Prevail is set in an imaginary universe where fearless pilots fight to the death with their futuristic vehicles.
Gameplay lies somewhere between the Mechwarrior-series and Quake 3. It is faster and more action-orientated than in Mechwarrior, but tries to avoid the jump-around-like-crazy-and-fire-at-everything-that-moves-gameplay known from Quake 3.
Fight Win Prevail is a pure multiplayer game and does not have a real singleplayer mode. Our primary target are LANs, but the game is playable over the internet, too.
Main features:
- Good graphics, physics, sound, and gameplay (for a hobbyist game)
- Multiplayer over TCP/IP
- 3 types of vehicles with individual characteristics (mechs, hovercrafts, and helicopter-like aircrafts)
- Distinct weapon types (classical projectile weapons, beam weapons, ballistic weapons, etc.)
- Distinct map types (from close combat indoor maps to large landscapes)
- An extendable set of vehicles, weapons, and maps
- 4 game modes (deathmatch, team deathmatch, sole survivor, team survivor)

JD4X 0.6
JD4X is a Java desktop environment for Linux. more>>
JD4X project is a basic GUI Windowing Environment developed to support the Java Programming Language based on top of the X Window system. It was developed with the intention of providing a Java environment that allows Java programmers to build and extend a windowing system purely in Java. However, the project itself is not pure Java and uses a mixture of Java and C.
JD4X is targeted at the hobbyist programmers who desire to put their skills to the test by customizing a desktop of their own. To do this, the JD4X project sets out to provide a native structural foundation that gives them a greater degree of control over their desktop, JVMs and Java classes that runs on the Linux X Window system, thereby giving the Java programmer full control of their desktop environment.
The project also targets Java users who may desire a Java enabled and component based desktop without excluding other native applications already found on their Linux distribution. It does this by also providing a default windowing desktop to cater to the end users who can select a mixture of native and Java applications that they like on their desktop without having to differentiate between them and the way they are executed.
In general, JD4X aims to isolate the underlying platform system to the background and provide a fully Java GUI front end. JD4X is not about a Java only desktop. It is about empowering the Java user and programmer such that the Java desktop will meet their particular needs.
