Linux Letters and Numbers project is an educational childrens game for linux.
Linux Letters and Number is a fun and educational learning game intended for children 2 and up.
It helps children learn or improve their letters, numbers, spelling, and vocabulary skills through the use of interesting pictures.
It also helps them develop important computer skills too.
It is written in C using the GTK and GDK_Imlib libraries.
Main features:
- Extensible - add new images yourself without having to make changes to the program. With support for gdk_imlib, you can now use common image formats, including common formats like gif, jpeg, xpm, png, and tiff.
- Dynamic - each letter or number can be represented by numerous pictures, each being displayed randomly.
- Flexible - you can even have more than one picture for a given word, by using a simple versioning scheme (ie Apple.1.xpm, Apple.2.xpm)
- Interesting - because you can change the game, its different every time!

X-Evian LiveCD 2.0-prebeta

X-Evian LiveCD 2.0-prebeta

X-Evian is a complete Debian GNU/Linux operating system compilation that comes with 300Mb of copyleft material. more>>
X-evian is a Live-CD, a complete operating system which installs automatically from the CD-Rom in RAM memory by means of a process of automatic hardware detection.

This makes it possible to "parasite" a PC without leaving any trace?without touching the hard disk and without interfering with the operating system or the files already installed on the PC. X-evian also includes a utility for installing the contents of the CD automatically onto the hard disk (without having to erase Windows).

Debian GNU/Linux is much more than an operating system: it is an entire system of program distribution, installation and management built around the Linux kernel (the core of the operating system). Debian GNU/Linux consists of about 10,000 different programs, nearly all of which are free software, bundled and classified for integrated operation.

X-evian is a selection and compilation which has been carefully chosen and configured for activist users, for liberated cultural, technological and social production. But Debian is much more than "a complete operating system and an infinite number of programs".

Debian is the largest independent free software community on the Net and one of the most firmly established and stable techno-political projects in cyberspace. X-evian is an easy preconfigured way of introducing the user to the best of the resources of this Debian.

The power of digital recombination, reproduction and transmission has enabled the cognitariat (the workers of the immaterial production networks) to organise its own production transversally. But this transverse self-organisation would not have been possible without a format that would protect the collective work.

This is copyleft. "Copyleft uses copyright law, but flips it over to serve the opposite of its usual purpose: instead of a means of privatizing software, it becomes a means of keeping software free. The central idea of copyleft is that we give everyone permission to run the program, copy the program, modify the program, and distribute modified versions?but not permission to add restrictions of their own.? Stallman, R. (http://www.gnu.org/gnu/thegnuproject.html).

Copyleft hacks into the legal system of copyright to champion the freedom of knowledges and techniques. X-evian is the product of the recombination, copying and transformation of these knowledges. X-evian can therefore be freely copied, distributed, modified, recombined and used (provided any modification is also free).

But its not only the software that can be copylefted: the design, images, texts, technical documents, music and videos included in X-evian are also free. X-evian therefore forms part of the cycles of immaterial production, liberated from the info-capitalist restriction on the circulation of knowledges and techniques, and its devices of production and consumption (factories, companies, shopping centres, etc.).

Liberated immaterial production does not operate along the lines of the development-production-sale-consumption sequence, but rather follows interactive cycles of development-use-development, looped in backfed hypercycles of projects, groups and individuals (X-evian, metabolik, hacklabs, sindominio, Debian, Linux, etc...).

X-evian is therefore also a community of development and experimentation from free software towards a different technological, cultural and social model, in which production and use merge in cooperative horizontal communities working outside market interfaces, innovation restricted by patents and commercial interests and the consumerist use of technology.

This edition of X-evian seeks to explicitly support copyleft philosophy, motivations and practices, and therefore includes an organised selection of copyleft materials (chats, texts, manuals, etc.).

Sunergos Simple is a minimal Gnome Login Manager.

An experiment in minimalism.

There are no options, no buttons, just a hello and how are you and why dont you just log in already?

So, this theme may not be suited for all users.

However, it is _extremely_ easy to understand and quite useful if you are interested in creating your own theme.

Poor mans Financial Calculator 1.1

Poor mans Financial Calculator 1.1

Poor mans Financial Calculator is a small financial and basic mathematical operations calculator applet. more>>
Poor mans Financial Calculator project is a small financial and basic mathematical operations calculator applet.
The calculator registers work like the mythical HP-12C financial calculator, even the "n" rounding behaviour. The yellow fields also serve as operands for the arithmetic operations; for such ops, the blue field will show the result.
BEGIN button: If enabled, means that the first payment is made at the beginning of the period (important only for financial operations that involve PMT register)
FPC button: if enabled, Fractionary part of the Period ("n") will also be calculated using Compound interest; if disabled, fractionary part will use simple (linear) interest, which gives slightly higher interest values.
Enhancements:
- This release translates the code and messages to English and changes the license to the LGPL.

Fearann Muin 0.2

Fearann Muin 0.2

Fearann Muin is an online role-playing game in a medieval fantasy world. more>>
Fearann Muin is an online role-playing game in a medieval fantasy world.
Fearann Muin is an online role-playing game (MMORPG without the Massive part) with a medieval-fantasy setting and standard rule sets. It will try to be focused on community and roleplaying instead of other aspects.
Main features:
Universe
- The setting of the game is Medieval Fantasy, similar to many other games (computer games or tabletop), but not copying exactly any system in particular. We plan to introduce non-standard creatures and environments more often as the development goes on.
- The initial races for playable characters are Dwarves, Elves and Humans; we plan to add new races later. While this doesnt sound original it has some benefits, like people knowing the race traits, so they can start playing right away without pondering which race is the best suited to their taste (as it happens when all the races in a game are original, unknown to you).
- The Rule Set is the standard for many games, with well-known classes, types of magic, spells, bonus and malus for each race, etc. We would prefer to not have some of the restrictions of the rule set (in example, we would prefer to have a class-less system); but as with the races, this allows us to work with a known standard that many people already know, so its easier to learn for most people, and its known to work (we chose to not make modifications at the moment, to not end up with an unbalanced, broken system).
- Well try to make of the environment a real, living world, when possible; with different behaviors for different creatures, the environment changing a bit with seasons, and so forth.
Community and Roleplay
- People will be able to sell items or resources that they craft and harvest; and maybe also sell other services, like training people with lower levels of knowledge, or being paid by performing tasks. This will provide a full range of social relationships based on economy, that will make the players to directly affect the rest of the world with every action; as well as provide the means to get a complex society running.
- There will be Player Guilds to allow people to form groups of friends or whatever interests they want; and there will be also some kind of Professional Guilds (the name is not decided yet, it might be even Universities or Schools) that will allow players to train and be part of that Institution, which will play a powerful role in the game.
Combat
- PvP is restricted, it will be allowed in the form of Duels, where one player challenges another one, and this one decides whether to engage in combat or not. There might be some special areas (arenas) where this will be allowed without the player having to agree to fight, or maybe complete maps where PvP is unrestricted, we havent decided that yet.
- Fighting with creatures and NPCs is usually allowed (althought it might not always be a wise decision :) ), and were designing it at the moment, probably itll will be present in the next release.
- Guild vs. Guild or similar advanced forms of combat are not yet planned, since we need a significant amount of things working before we get to that, and we have to learn from experience before being able to implement them. This doesnt mean that we dont want to have it, its just that were not ready to implement it in the next few releases yet.

BuildNumber 0.8a

BuildNumber 0.8a

BuildNumber is a utility to add auto-incrementing build numbers to C and C++ projects. more>>
Large projects usually already have some type of mechanism for build numbering, because keeping track of which build is the latest can be very important information. However, even small hobby projects can benefit from a self-maintaining build numbering system.
BuildNumber project is a utility to add auto-incrementing build numbers to C and C++ projects. BuildNumber will create and maintain a single header file called buildnumber.h for your project which you can #include to access the current build number. BuildNumber is written in pure C for maximum portability, but the binary can also be used with C++ projects, and the source should compile with almost any C/C++ compiler.
The entire contents of a sample buildnumber.h are displayed below:
/* Generated by BuildNumber version 0.8 */
#ifndef BUILD_NUMBER_H_
#define BUILD_NUMBER_H_
#define BUILDNUMBER 53
#define BUILDNUMBER_STR "53"
#endif /* BUILD_NUMBER_H_ */
Every time you rebuild your project, BuildNumber will automatically update this file for you: set it up once, and it just works. You can compile individual files (to confirm syntax, etc) without incrementing the build number, because it only updates when you actually build or make your project.
Main features:
- Written in pure C for maximum portability
- Simple concept, simple solution, simple code
- Works seemlessly in C and C++ projects
- Sets up in minutes, then its entirely automated
- Works with virtually every C/C++ compiler on virtually every system
- BSD License for maximum freedom, even in commercial projects
