Gear

Gear project draws a gear in an open office drawing. more>>
Gear project draws a gear in an open office drawing.

You can then load the open office drawing and a nice looking gear is shown.

You can adapt the nr of tooth from the commandline, the shape of the tooth can be changed from the source.

How does it work?

I unzipped an open office drawing and looked how the lines in a file were made, then i automatically generated the lines into the content.xml file and zip the stuff again to make a valid document.

Isnt it great to have open formats (that are also well readable...)!!!

What is essential...

Well, in the archive that you got this program in, there is a odg directory this contains all the files that make up a valid OpenOffice drawing. The program should be run in a place where this odg directory is found...

example you unzipped this archive in a temp directory and now your file tree looks
like this : temp/gear/odg
then you should run the gear program from the temp/gear directory. .

well, it isnt that hard, you will figure it out...

PeaceMaker is a fully functional failover/clustering engine system working on Linux and other Unix/POSIX like OSs.

It is entirely written in Perl Interpreted Language, it’s based on a message passing protocol system over TCP/IP beteween 2 or more nodes. It can monitor node fault based on, interfaces polling status, health sanity node status and message passed through an external plugin attached to plugin module.

Node Fault / State Changed events can be handled through external program exec or TCP/IP notify.

At this time ByPass is used in a heavy Italian Public Administration production system (but there are some little bugs to fix!)

Q-Gears 0.13

Q-Gears 0.13

Q-Gears project is a clone of Squaresofts Final Fantasy 7 game engine. more>>
Q-Gears project is a clone of Squaresofts Final Fantasy 7 game engine.

Q-gears is an attempt to make a clone of Squaresofts Final Fantasy 7 game engine. It is designed to be cross-platform and run on modern operating systems such as Win32 and Linux. In the future this is to serve as a framework for compatibility with other Square games.

Many games after this were created with the same same code base and design philosophy. Written in C++, it uses cross-platform graphics libraries (SDL and OpenGL) along with GCC, a cross platform C/C++ compiler.

It is named after "Gears" which is a wholly inaccurate and incredibly incomplete refrence for the original FF7 engine. The "Q" means nothing, other than its a cool letter to differentiate between the document and the program.

Halberd 0.2.1

Halberd 0.2.1

Halberd discovers HTTP load balancers. more>>
Halberd discovers HTTP load balancers. Halberd is useful for web application security auditing and for load balancer configuration testing.
To cope with heavy traffic loads, web site administrators often install load balancer devices. These machines hide (possibly) many real web servers behind a virtual IP.
They receive HTTP requests and redirect them to the real web servers in order to share the traffic between them. Halberd is a tool aimed at discovering real servers behind virtual IPs.
Installation:
To install the program you need to execute:
python setup.py install
Enhancements:
- A corner case in the analysis phase was worked around.
- The documentation was improved.

Apache Hello World Benchmarks 1.04

Apache Hello World Benchmarks 1.04

Apache Hello World Benchmarks is a tool that generates benchmarks of Apache Web frameworks. more>>
Apache Hello World Benchmarks is a benchmarking tool that seeks to give a sense of Web application execution speed on various software platforms running under the Apache Web server.

Benchmarks can vary greatly from system to system, so this tool allows one to get numbers on ones own platform. Applications tested include mod_perl, mod_php, Tomcat, and Apache::ASP, with over 62 benchmarks in all.

Benchmark Descriptions:

Hello World 2000 ( 2000 )

The 2000 benchmark tries to emulate a heavy web page template. It is typically 3K+ in program length that results in output of over 20K. While this does not properly reflect any web applications speed of back end business logic execution, it does show a template heavy request with some application logic and loops, some HTTP parameter passing, and much variable interpolation in the output stream.

Hello World ( hello )

The Hello World benchmark merely prints "Hello World" and as such is a good test for the fastest a web page could ever run under the given web application environment. For historical reasons, the benchmarks are written to print "Hello" and then add to the output World as a raw string.

HelloDB ( hellodb )

The HelloDB benchmark merely queries the database for the string "Hello World", and as such represents the fastest a web application can process a request when talking to a database. This is a new benchmark with only MySQL supported for now, but more environments and databases will be added over time.

XSLT Big ( xsltbig )

This benchmark hits an XSLT rendering engine hard with 18K+ XML being transformed with a 1K+ XSL stylesheet for over 20K output. Though XSLT is generally slow, many applications will use XSLT caching to speed up response times. This benchmark should emulate well a real world XSLT usage scenario, with perhaps the XSL itself being too trivial.

Hello XSLT ( xslt )

Like the Hello World benchmark, the XSLT version just outputs "Hello World", or the closest we can get when doing XSLT, so it too demonstrates the fastest an application can render a page with XSLT. Benchmarks should be similarly configured between xsltbig and xslt, so a slow caching layer that benefits the former might slow down this benchmark.

BeaFanatIX 2006.2 r3

BeaFanatIX 2006.2 r3

BeaFanatIX is a mini Live CD Linux distribution. more>>
BeaFanatIX is a mini Live CD Linux distribution. It was originally a remaster of BeatrIX but now uses a more recent Ubuntu core (more on that below). BeatrIX itself is partly on an old version of Ubuntu, but makes heavy use of Knoppix technologies. The common ancestor of all these distributions is Debian.

Whats the catch? Youll get a fully functional desktop operating system running off a standard or a mini (3", 8cm) CD-ROM (or CD-RW). The only thing your computer needs to be capable of is booting from CD - most modern machines can do that without any problem. Apart from using it as a Live CD, you can also install it to your hard drive as an independent operating system, so if you like it, put it on your hard drive and enjoy enhanced speed, usability and efficiency!

BeaFanatIX inherits some very useful features from the distributions it is based on:

Knoppix has excellent hardware recognition and comes with a usable installation script.
Ubuntu is geared towards the desktop and ease of use.

Debian gives you access to a vast amount of software packages ready for immediate use.
BeatrIX is highly portable and has been optimised to run even on older and less potent hardware - thats why Bea* (BeatrIX or BeaFanatIX) may be the best way to revive an old computer sitting useless in a corner of your attic!

BeaFanatIX, true to its BeatrIX roots, has been optimised to enable even a less experienced user to have a working desktop within minutes - work with documents, surf the web and communicate over the internet. Weve chosen a slightly different approach, though: While slimming down the ISO image even further, weve integrated a number of useful software packages without sacrificing key functionality - and without exceeding the size limitations for a mini Live CD.

BetaFTPD 0.0.8-pre17

BetaFTPD 0.0.8-pre17

BetaFTPD provides a single-threaded, small FTP daemon. more>>
BetaFTPD provides a single-threaded, small FTP daemon.
BetaFTPD is a single-threaded FTP daemon. The single-threadedness makes it faster than most other FTP daemons (contrary to common belief), and makes it extremely light on memory.
Although it lacks a few functions (which you probably wont miss), the current version is very small and has a decent amount of functionality.
BetaFTPD is built on the concept of heavy code reuse, which should hopefully make it easier for other programmers to contribute.
Enhancements:
- Support for not running as root.
- Fixed a LOT of bugs, some segfaulting, some minor.
- MAJOR performance improvements in almost all areas.
- Some changes to compile better under Debian GNU/Linux, a debian/ directory, and .deb files available for download.
- BetaFTPD will now try to install itself (wow! (not)) in the same directory as the file called `ftpd, if you have that file.
- Support for non-Linux platforms! For now, only SunOS/SVR4 and FreeBSD.
- Gave the version its own name, like Samba does.
