Head Over Heels 1.0.1
Head Over Heels is a spanky new remake of the classic Jon Ritman & Bernie Drummand isometric adventure. more>>
Head Over Heels is a spanky new remake of the classic Jon Ritman & Bernie Drummand isometric adventure.
Head Over Heels was released, um, a while ago. Around about 1987 if I recall correctly and it was immediately praised in the press as being quite the bestest thing ever. Not only was it a huge game for its time, it also had great graphics and was very addictive - if somewhat punishing in its difficulty level.
The variety in the locations was amazing and the challenges brilliantly designed. Quite rightly it was awarded with pretty much every accolade that could be bestowed upon it by the various magazines. Even today it still stands as a brilliantly designed title and has never really been bettered in the isometric adventure genre.
This version is a pretty darn faithful remake of the Speccy original except with a few spanking extra bits grafted on like a save system and subliminal flashes of erotic art (if I have my way!). I should perhaps tell you a bit about the team whos making the game. Im the one responsible for the graphics (apart from the lovely logo which you see adorning this site) and Im Graham Goring.
The programming is by the very talented Tomaz Kac (who only wrote this game because of a hastily scrawled diagram posted on the Retrospec mailing list about how you cant properly sort isometric games without complex masking), the excellent music is by Dorian Black (who I understand has a picture of an old man in his loft - ha ha ha!) and this website and the games logo is by Pierre Jovanovic.
Other contributors are James Curry, Kakarot, Milos Babovic, Metka Jostl and Sir Dave-O whose beta testing has been invaluable in both ironing out the programming bugs and also refining the layout of some of the rooms due to the handling being ever so slightly different to the Spectrum version.
On a personal note Ive also been encouraged by all the lovely people at the pixelation forum (pixelation.swoo.net) and of course the other members of Retrospec who have now grudgingly accepted that I can actually draw fairly good graphics.

Advanced Packet Sniffer 0.19
Aps is a small tool for analyzing network traffic. more>>
Aps is a small tool for analyzing network traffic. It prints out a great deal of information about the relevant protocols including TCP, UDP, ARP, and ICMP.
It allows you to filter IP addresses, hardware addresses, ports, and specific protocols. It comes with a little GTK-GUI displaying packet counters for each protocol.
APS tries to print detailed info about network frames that are received from the SOCK_RAW (ETH_P_ALL) socket. I am not sure if this is the clean way, but it works fine. APS prints info about the hardware layer and the IP and TCP/UDP/ICMP header.
The tail of the packet (mostly the data) wich could not be interpreted is written on the screen as ascii/hex-dump or both (your choice).
Example

Alerttail 0.2
Alerttail executes actions when some text has been written to a file. more>>
Alerttail project executes actions when "some text" has been written to a file.
This software tails a file and when a line matches some text pattern alerttail will execute a list of actions defined on its own configuration file.
Imagine you want to be warned when some text is written to a log file, you could just configure alerttail asking it to notify you with a gtk notify popup.
For example when i start my proftpd server for desktop file sharing i would like to monitor when somebody logs in and downloads a file. To know that i would configure alerttail to analyse /var/log/proftpd/proftpd.log and /var/log/proftpd/xferlog.
Or if i would like to know when somebody execute a "su" command i will configure alerttail to listen to /var/log/auth.log.
Same thing for samba access, kernel , mail, gaim events or any other log file event.
Another interesting scenario is iptables monitoring. If we want to know if a remote host try to direct connect to our box we will ask alerttail to monitor /var/log/messages and alert us with a notify popup with a link to googleMaps for GeoIp Localization.
How does it works:
Alerttail is configured via config files.
Each file will define tail match policies.
When it tails a file, each line is parsed by a regular expression agent that will determine if that text line matches a provided text pattern. If it does, it will execute several actions defined by the user.
Each tailed file can have one or more regex parsers and each of those parsers will trigger one or more actions.
Actions can be alerttail built in actions (GTK notify action , geoipLocalization action, filtering text action) or a custom user defined shell command action.
Alerttail has been developed in C++ for linux platform.

JTail 2.1
JTail is an advanced Java/Swing implementation of the Unix tail utility. more>>
JTail is an advanced Java/Swing implementation of the Unix tail utility. JTail includes an intuitive GUI interface that enables the user to define multiple data filters and alarms.
In addition, the user can suspend and resume the display of data from the monitored file. When suspended, the user can single step through the new data being written to the files being monitored.
JTail can be used to monitor both files on both local systems and via the Fishcroft RfaServer (see below) on remote systems.
Enhancements:
- The JTail jar file is now a self-executing jar file.
- The ability to spawn new root windows from the File menu has been added.
- When filters are defined but none are activated, all output will be displayed.
- Output may be displayed with line wrap toggled on or off.
- Minor code cleanup. rfa.jar sources are included in the source tree.
- utils.jar sources are included in the source tree.

Shade LSB 1.1.0
Shade is an acronym which stands for Steganographically Hide and Analyze Data Entries. more>>
Shade is an acronym which stands for Steganographically Hide and Analyze Data Entries. Shade LSB project is a versatile and feature-rich program designed to analyze and manipulate LSBs (least significant bits) of files, attempting to either hide or pluck out data.
LSB manipulation is a form of steganography, the art or science of making the existence of information undetectable by normal means. This is achieved by writing the contents of a confidential file to the LSBs of another harmless and inconspicuous host file.
Shade is Open Source software released under the terms and conditions of the GNU General Public License. See the features Page for details as to what Shade is or will be capable of.
Main features:
- perform any payload file type.
- optionally perform on these known file types:
- jpeg/jfif - Joint Photographic Experts Group File Interchange Format
- mpeg - Moving Pictures Experts Group format
- mp3 - mpeg layer 3 format
- wav - windows wave file format
- bmp - windows bitmap format (8 bit)
- bmp - windows bitmap format (24 bit)
- png - portable network graphics format
- gif - graphics interchange format
- store/acknowledge payload file name in payload data.
- perform multiple payload files at once.
- verify integrity of payload data against original payload file.
- perform payload backwards.
- input from standard input (eg, perform on piped input)
- output processed data to standard output or to a file.
- perform payload between/before/after specified phrase(s) located in host data.n");
- use 1-8 bits per byte of host data.
- skip bytes at head of host data.
- skip bytes at tail of host data.
- skip X host bytes after performing each one.
- limit performing of payload to a specific number of bytes.
- Xor-crypt payload against custom repeating passphrase.
- Xor-crypt payload against custom repeating bit-sequence.
- apply arbitrary operations sequencially on each byte of payload file:
- invert bits. (eg, invert 3,4, 6, and 8: -i 3468)
- reverse bits. (eg, reverse 3 through 7: -R 37)
- transpose bits. (eg, swap bits 3 with 4 and 6 with 8: -t 3468)
- Xor-crypt against custom 8-bit-sequence.
Enhancements:
- Many data processing and output features have been added, and the code is much more friendly and efficient.
- An official change log was added.

Mail::Message::Head::Partial 2.065
Mail::Message::Head::Partial is a subset of header information of a message. more>>
Mail::Message::Head::Partial is a subset of header information of a message.
INHERITANCE
Mail::Message::Head::Partial
is a Mail::Message::Head::Complete
is a Mail::Message::Head
is a Mail::Reporter
SYNOPSIS
my $partial = $head->strip;
$partial->isa(Mail::Message::Head) # true
$partial->isDelayed # false
$partial->isPartial # true
$partial->removeFields( qr/^X-/ );
$partial->removeFieldsExcept( qw/To From/ );
$partial->removeResentGroups;
$partial->removeListGroup;
$partial->removeSpamGroups;
Header information consumes a considerable amount of memory. Most of this information is only useful during a short period of time in your program, or sometimes it is not used at all. You then can decide to remove most of the header information. However, be warned that it will be lost permanently: the header (and therefore the messsage) gets mutulated!

logsend 1.0
logsends main goal is to provide an easy way of receiving e-mail notifications about the changes to the systems (log) files. more>>
logsends main goal is to provide an easy way of receiving e-mail notifications about the changes to the systems (log) files, which makes it suitable for watching mainly the server activity.
Logsend acts like a daemon; it watches the specified files and mails the changes (additions) to your e-mail address. It can search for a pattern in the new added lines and send only those that match. It uses either the inotify kernel subsystem or the tail backend for the systems which dont support inotify (eg. the 2.4 linux kernels, or the non-linux ones).
Since logsend can watch any text file, it can be used in association with other (security) tools, such as Snort, if their output is redirected to a file. Log rotation is fully supported.
Logsend is entirely written in bash and comes with a dialog-based configuration tool, but configuring by hand is possible and straightforward. It also comes with a live file monitor, allowing users to watch the changes in real time. Any user can run an instance of logsend if the files to watch are readable.

Root-tail 1.2
Root-tail is a program that allows printing of text directly to the X11 root window wherever you choose. more>>
Root-tail is a program that allows printing of text directly to the X11 root window wherever you choose, much like running rxvt with a pixmap background but without the hassle and with more features.
Install:
xmkmf -a
make
make install
make install.man
Enhancements:
- replaced default font by "*" to "ensure" some font is found.
- accept hexadecimal window ids, as does everybody else(?).
- made it compile with ansi-89-based compilers again.
- add hack to support nautilus (not very stable, nautilus should either use extended window manager hints or __SWM_VROOT, as everybody else does).
- do not initialize the window twice (fixes problems with multiple visuals).
- new option: -minspace.
- fixed seg fault if geometry is too short to fit a single line
- fix bug which became apparent if -no-filename or null

Test::Tail::Multi 0.03
Test::Tail::Multi is a Perl module to execute code, monitor dynamic file contents. more>>
Test::Tail::Multi is a Perl module to execute code, monitor dynamic file contents.
SYNOPSIS
use Test::Tail::Multi files => [qw(file1 file2)] tests=>2;
# Can add files dynamically as well
add_file(file3, "decided to add file3 too");
# Execute a command and check against output
contents_like {system(my_command -my_args")} # Note no trailing comma!
qr/expected value/,
"got the expected output");
# if code to execute is undef, check against previously captured new content
contents_unlike undef, # trailing command REQUIRED
qr/unexpected text/,
"unexpected stuff not found in same text");
# Shorten the delay to 1 second.
delay(1, "Now a 1 second delay");
contents_like(sub {system(fast_command)}, # trailing comma in parens
qr/expected/,
"this command runs faster");
Test::Tail::Multi allows you to create tests or test classes that permit you to monitor the contents of one or more files a la < tail -f > using the nice File::Tail module. You can execute arbitrary code and then run tests versus the new content in the files.
If you choose, you can run multiple tests against the same content by passing undef as the code to be executed; Test::Tail::Multi will then reuse the contents it last extracted.
You can also adjust the delay time to be used to allow the code you called to "settle down" before checking the tails.
Test::Tail::Multi comes in handy for those testing jobs that require you to monitor several files at once to see whats happening in each one.
