ChangeWallpaper application has two scripts for change your background in Gnome, from a Folder with several images or from art.gnome.org

This application is two scripts. One of them changes the wallpaper of your Gnome desktop from a Folder of your election. This script hence the necessary of wallpapers on that folder.

The second one, and for me the best, change your background with a random one selected from art.gnome.org.

For both of them you must select the softlink that its generated the first time you run it, and the add the script to you session manager, with this every time you boot your PC and log into your account you will see a new background.

Wallpaper Slideshow is a software to make a slideshow in your wallpaper with images in your directory.

This application monitories a directory and put an image in wallpaper before X seconds.

You need mono and if you have ubuntu 6.10, only need to do: sudo aptitude install -y libmono2.0-cil libgconf2.0-cil gtk-sharp2.

sidux-highway is a KDM theme as a modification of the Sabayon KDM theme "Open Future".

The highway picture was taken and modified by me, the go.png is taken from "crystalline black" icons (kde-look.org #46349), session.png and system.png are modified nuoveXT icons (kde-look.org #26449). The small pictures inside the monitor and folder are sidux wallpapers.

Modifications:

changed wallpaper and icons and resized and repositioned the userlist slightly, added missing screenshot

The highway picture is widescreen 1920x1200. Should be easy to resize it if needed. For your convenience I also have added a 1024x768 version, just rename it if you want to use it instead of the WUXGA picture.

To use the theme untar it to /usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/ and either change your /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc manually or use kcontrol if you have the kdmtheme module.

ATTENTION: If you use a display height other than 1200 the position of the login area (that half transparent stripe) will be different from what you see in the preview. If you want to have the same position with another display height you can easily adjust it by editing the file highway.xml with your favorite text editor. Just go to line 49 and change the y-value that by default is "-485". Its an easy rule of three: lets say you have a display height of 800: 800x485/1200=323 - go and replace -485 by -323.

WallpaperZapper is a random wallpaper selector for GNOME. It allows you to change periodically your background, randomly picking the new one from GNOME backgrounds lists.
Main features:
- changes desktop background periodically
- time between two changes is fully configurable
- popup menu provides available wallpapers list. Choosing an item in the menu changes the current wallpaper
- wallpaper list is taken from Gnome backgrounds list. Any change made to this list is detected and WZ adapts itself accordingly
- already available in French and English
- easy to translate using traditional tools like gettext and po files
- written in python
- uses gtk/gnome throught pygtk
- preferences saved and wallpapers configured using gconf
- backgrounds file monitored using gamin (could change to gnomevfs shortly)
- i18n with gettext
- autotools were used to bring it altogether.
Enhancements:
- gamin is no longer used to monitor background files.
- GNOMEvfs is used instead.
- The wallpaper popup menu has been modified so it now presents a background together with a thumbnail.
- The wallpaper list is now sorted on wallpaper name.
- The about dialog now inherits from gtk.AboutDialog, so it should be more like GTK.
- An adapter between Wallpapers and GConf was added.
- Usual code cleanups were done, including fixes for typos, removal of comments, and modification of configuration parameters.

Wallpapoz tool enables your Gnome desktop to have different wallpapers for different workspaces or virtual desktops. It offers quick orientation cues where you are. The other reason is to increase eye candy. In this version, it support randomization.

It means you can group your wallpapers into spesific workspaces. You can manage it so that your cartoon wallpapers will be randomize for certain times in workspace one, your nature wallpapers in workspace two, your adult wallpapers in workspace three and your Gnome wallpapers in workspace four.

There are two programs. One is the daemon that will monitor your desktop continuously. So when you change workspace or specified time has passed, the daemon wil change your desktop wallpaper.

The daemon it self reads your wallpapers list and preferation then acts according to that. The configuration file is written in xml format. Of course you can edit with any text editor but that is not convenient.

To make it easy, there is another program to edit this configuration file. Click the button, find the wallpapers that you would like to put into spesific workspace. Please see the screenshot to see how it works.

The daemon program name is daemon_wallpapoz.py. You need to add this program into Gnome start up programs list if you want every time you log into Gnome session, your Gnome desktop will have the ability to have different wallpapers for different workspaces. But first you need to make the configuration file by using program that called wallpapoz.py.

KDM Vista like Theme is a very nice KDM theme that looks like Vistas one.
I didnt see any Vista like KDM login theme... I wanted one so I tried.
Enhancements:
- There are now two themes. One for widescreen which is the same as the previous one and one for 4/3 screen. This new one has been successfully tested on a 1600 x 1200 screen. If you have other resolution, please try and report if it works.

KDM-Drops (Slackware) is a KDM theme using the drops wallpaper, the KDE logo, and a, Aero-G looking thing I made in Inkscape.
