Gwenview 1.4.1

Gwenview 1.4.1

Gwenview is a fast and easy to use image viewer/browser for KDE. more>>
Gwenview is a fast and easy to use image viewer and browser for KDE.
All common image formats are supported, such as PNG (including transparency), JPEG (including EXIF tags and lossless transformations), GIF (images as well as animations), XCF (Gimp image format), BMP, XPM and others.
Standard features include slideshow, fullscreen view, image thumbnails, dragndrop, image zoom, full network transparency using the KIO framework, including basic file operations and browsing in compressed archives, non-blocking GUI with adjustable views.
Gwenview also provides image and directory KParts components for use e.g. in Konqueror.
Additional features, such as image renaming, comparing, converting, batch processing, HTML gallery and others are provided by the KIPI image framework.
Main features:
Image viewing
- Gwenview can load and save all image formats supported by KDE, but Gwenview can also browse GIMP files (*.xcf) thanks to the included QXCFI component developed by
- Lignum Computing.
- It correctly displays images with alpha channel, using the traditionnal checker board as a background to reveal transparency.
- Gwenview let you accurately control the way images are scaled: you can zoom in and out or automatically scale the image to fit the window. You can also lock the zoom factor to keep the same zoom between images.
- When browsing JPEG images with EXIF information, Gwenview automatically rotates them according to the EXIF Orientation tag.
- It can show image properties and image specific meta-information like Konqueror does.
- Since version 1.1.8, Gwenview knows how to show animated images like MNG or GIF.
Image manipulations
- Gwenview does not try to replace your favorite image editor, so it only features the most simple image manipulations: rotation and mirroring. If JPEGTran is installed, Gwenview will perform lossless manipulations. For more complex image manipulations, you can start any external tools from Gwenview. You can define your very own selection of tools to fit your needs.
Browsing your collections of images
- Gwenview features the necessary file management operations: copy, move, delete, rename and dragn drop images. It has full support for KIO slaves: you can browse FTP/Windows shares, go into tar balls or zip files.
- Depending on your needs and on the type of images you are browsing, you can choose to use a detailed file view or the thumbnail view, which features three easily accessible thumbnail sizes.
- The keyboard browsing allow you to go from one image to another without loading all the images between them.
- Reach your collection folders fast with the folder bookmarks. The bookmarks are shared with Konsole and KDE file dialogs.
Presenting your images
- The fullscreen with optional overlayed image file and the simple built-in slide show allows you to present images the way you want them to show.
The interface
- Gwenview features a folder tree window and a file list window to provide easy navigation among your thousand images.
- It uses docked windows, so you can alter the layout in any way you want. You can also browse your images in full screen.

XView4Struts 1.4.1

XView4Struts 1.4.1

XView4Struts provides a Struts framework extension that replaces JSP pages with pure HTML. more>>
XView4Struts provides a Struts framework extension that replaces JSP pages with pure HTML.
The XView4Struts project is an extension to the Jakarta Struts Framework. Its main purpose is to eliminate the need to use tag libraries and JSP pages. The view is pure HTML, and interaction between the view and the model is transparent to the developer.
This approach offers faster development, better division of work, a more pure MVC design pattern, reusable view components, and easier maintenance.
With XView4Struts the view layer is pure HTML. This has several implications. You dont need a java developer to write HTML. Many organizations have graphics experts that are more suited for that job. Many organizations prefer to create HTML mock-ups of an application to solicit client approval before they start working on the underlying logic that makes it work. Using this scenerio with the standard Struts view layer, the developer then has to spend many hours implementing jsp tags to make it work with the underlying logic. With XView4Struts the developer only needs to apply id attributes to the standard HTML tags and the framework takes care of the rest.
XView4Struts extends the Struts requestProcessor and intercepts all forwarding actions to HTML pages. The processor parses the HTML page and if it can it will process any tags implementing an id attribute. If there is no match between the id attribute and a form bean property or an error occurs, the parser simply returns control back to the processor. Since only HTML pages are parsed, XView4Struts may exist in an application that implements the standard Struts view components.
Main features:
- Faster development time. A whole layer of programming has been removed since there are no JSPs to write. No tag libraries to learn and implement.
- Easier maintenance. There is no logic in the view layer to troubleshoot and maintain.
- A truer MVC design pattern since all logic in the view layer has been removed.
- The developer has an option to use xslt to produce dynamic content. Reusable view components are easy to build using this option. XView4Struts does not use xslt to produce the entire view layer as other implementations of this type do. It is only implemented to dynamically insert content pieces into the HTML document.
- Application templates are extremely easy to implement.
- The parsing functionality is dynamic enough that the developer often has more than one option or technology to choose from to achieve the same result. They simply use what they understand best.
Enhancements:
- Enhancement - Upgraded
handler to accept id value as a context relative path to an html page.

settevion is a program that allows you to edit the channels in your Skymaster DXL 9400 Satellite Receiver. more>>
settevion is a program that allows you to edit the channels in your Skymaster DXL 9400 Satellite Receiver.
This receiver was sold under the name Tevion FTA 203 by Aldi. Note that the current version does not allow writing radio channels into the receiver. Also note: This program makes use of undocumented behaviour. USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. There is no guarantee, even not against possible damage to your equipment. The program is free for personal, non-commercial use. Commercial use and copying (even at no cost) requires written permission. There are only german instructions provided, but Id not expect many problems for non-german speaking users since the programs dialog language is english.
Download settevion-x.x.x.tar.gz for Linux or settevion-win-x.x.x.zip for Windows. See the "Download" section below. For Linux, you must have Python installed (at least version 2.2) and Tkinter, which might be in a separate package. They are part of your distribution. Unpack the .tar.gz and do a "make install". The Windows version comes with its Python interpreter integrated into settevion.exe. Just unpack the zip file. For both versions, connect the receiver with a null modem cable and start settevion. Choose "Edit->Preferences" to select your serial device. Then choose "Receiver->Read data from receiver". This should be enough to make this run.
Enhancements:
- settevion.py: getDBPRINT: added code to read in SER data entry by entry since firmware version 2.12 doesnt dump the SER data base any more. satIO.read() changed to ignore asynchronous error messages ("trashlog") if they are one a line of their own. Warning message added if Python is called with -O and one of the debugging (-v) command line options is set. Version 1.4.1.

GeoServer 1.4.1

GeoServer 1.4.1

GeoServer is a web feature server to share geographic information. more>>
GeoServer project connects your information to the Geospatial Web. With GeoServer, you can publish and edit data using open standards. Your information is made available in a large variety of formats as maps/images or actual geospatial data.
GeoServers transactional capabilities offer robust support for shared editing. It supports WFS-T and WMS open protocols from the OGC to produce JPEG, PNG, SVG, KML/KMZ, GML, PDF, Shapefiles, and more. It is built on the GeoTools2 Java GIS toolkit.
Configuration:
The WCS and WMS raster support is fully configurable from the web admin tool. If youve learned how to use the web admin tool, then go to it and look for coverage stuff. Configure your layers as you do for the non-coverage stuff, but they will be available as WCS coverages as well as WMS layers.
First of all you have to configure your Server capabilities. In the Config > Server section you can find several fields that allow you to optimize the JAI memory configuration:
1. JAI mem capacity expressed in bytes represents the amount of available memory for JAI operations. We suggest to use the default amount, more advices will come later.
2. JAI mem threshold is the percentage at which the Tile cache starts flushing tiles.
3. JAI cache recycling if checked allows JAI to re-use alredy loaded tiles (vital capabilty for perfomances).
At this point the WCS can be configured and feed with your data.
In the Config > Data > CoveragePlugins you can find the list of installed plugins. A plugin represents the raster format that GeoServer is able to read/write. With the default distribution the supported file formats are:
- GRIB edition 1
- GeoTiff
- WorldImages: PNG, JPG, TIFF, GIF with a world file attached
- ArcGrid: ASCII files
- GTOPO 30: DEM files
- ImageMosaic: a mosaic of several images with world file or geotiff files. It is still quite experimental but it is showing good perfomances.
Enhancements:
- Misconfigured datastore no longer prevent geoserver startup
- GetMap requests specifying SLD=url in place of LAYERS= and STYLES= now work.
- BasicFidMapper generated keys are now valid FIDs
- Geoserver can now handle files outside the data dir anymore
- GeoServerDataDirectory can support prehistoric external data dir
- Map preview now works with projected data
- Scale computation now conform to OGC standard
- GetStyles and PutStyles are now included in the capabilities document
- BaseMap layers no longer overwrite other layers as well

jPicEdt 1.4.1

jPicEdt 1.4.1

jPicEdt is a multi-platform vector-based graphic editor for LaTeX and related packages, including eepic and PsTricks. more>>
jPicEdt is a multi-platform vector-based graphic editor for LaTeX and related packages, including eepic and PsTricks.
The LaTeX picture environment is a special environment for inserting simple drawing commands into a LaTeX file.
This environment was obviously not intented to replace more sophisticated graphical formats such as Postscript or PDF (and their associated design tools: Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand,...), but was merely aimed at easily incorporating small and simple drawings (e.g. graphs, electrical schematics,...)
Yet picture commands are flexible enough to allow one to build rather complicated drawings, including circles, rectangles, lines and vectors, bezier splines.
Besides, using epic/eepic or PsTricks packages largely increases the set of available commands, and amongst other things, allows for shape-filling (and colours with PsTricks) and a better rendering of shapes.
Finally, one of the main benefits of using the picture environment is the ability to incorporate text containing any LaTeX command allowed in LR mode, e.g. equations, arrays or user-defined commands.
Main features:
- Every graphical element allowed by the picture environment commands: lines, arrows, circles, boxes.
- Emulated elements, for example lines of any slope (which LaTeX doesnt support natively), circles of any size, ellipses, arcs and polygons. This makes a strong use of the multiput command.
- Nearly every object allowed by the epic/eepic packages (excluding grids and textured filling): dashed lines, filled (whitened, blackened or shaded) ellipses or polygons, arcs,... Using this package is optional.
- Starting from version 1.3.2, nearly every object in the pstricks.sty package (this include : filling with colors, hatches, textures, setting various stroke parameters, rotating texts,...). Support for pst-node.sty and other related packages is either experimental (meaning that you must recompile with a boolean flag turned on) or simply underway.
