GuitarTeX 3.1.0
GuitarTeX is a tool for guitarists who want to print good looking and easy to play song sheets. more>>
GuitarTeX is a tool for guitarists who want to print good looking and easy to play song sheets or song books from their chord or chordpro files. It uses the well known chord format with several extensions. The program was developed on a Linux system, but it should run on any other Unix system which has a Perl/TK environment.
It is based upon an idea of Martin Leclerc and Mario Dorion from Canada and their program Chord (Version 3.5 from 1993). To use GuitarTeX, you need to have knowledge of the Chord program (explained later). Though the LaTeX text processing system is used by GuitarTeX, you dont have to know very much about it. GuitarTeX produces Postscript or PDF output automatically (if you want). The Chord directives supplied by GuitarTeX are described in Chapter 5.
Main features:
- Graphical user interface with integrated editor and syntax highlighting
- Prints good looking song sheets including guitar chords without using monospace fonts
- Output formats: LaTeX, Postscript and PDF
- Compatible with ChordPro format, import function for ascii format
- Support for music typesetting with the LaTeX packages MusixTeX, MusixLyr and TabDefs
- Flexible page layout (paper size, margins...)
- User defined colors for different parts of a song (e.g. verse, chorus)
- Optional printing of chord symbols at the end of a song
- Transpose up or down your song by mouse clicks
- Creates single song sheets or complete song books with a title page, table of
- contents, headlines with page numbering, chord table and index
- Supports ASCII tablature and the built in tablature directives for guitar and bass tabs
- Support for multiple languages (if you dont find your langauage, you can help the
- author to add it)
- Runs on Linux operating system (it should run on any Unix system that is supported by Perl/TK and LaTeX, but it is not tested)
- Setup your song book project from single song files with the include directive
- LaTeX commands may be used in Chordpro files (for the professionals)
Enhancements:
- Support to create song books
- Several Bugfixes

gnome-chord 0.7.1
gnome-chord is a guitar chord index that displays a selected chord on a guitar fretboard. more>>
gnome-chord is a guitar chord index that displays a selected chord on a guitar fretboard.
It is released under the GPL which in short means that you can use and distribute it for free. It can be used as a stand alone application (for example you could use it to find how to play a specific chord or scale) or it can integrate with other applications to provide chord selection and rendering.
[COPYRIGHT=1
1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute
`configure itself.
Running `configure takes awhile. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.
2. Type `make to compile the package.
3. Optionally, type `make check to run any self-tests that come with the package.
4. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.
5. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean. To also remove the files that `configure created (so you can compile the package for a different kind of computer), type `make distclean. There is also a `make maintainer-clean target, but that is intended mainly for the packages developers. If you use it, you may have to get all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came with the distribution.

chordname() accepts either a string of notes such as "C Eb G A#" or a list of notes such as qw/Ab Bb F Bb D/. GuiTuner 0.05 beta2
GuiTuner is a simple guitar tuning program for Linux. more>>
GuiTuner tries to detect the pitch of the sound recorded in real time from the audio device using some methods ( by now only based on FFT ) that you can configure at runtime.
It is self-explanatory, you just have to connect your guitar or your microphone to the sound card, configure the input device using a mixer and see what the program tells you: it displays the note nearest to the picked sound and the interval between it and the note produced by the instrument.
If the sound produced is lower than the right one the left arrow becomes green, if is higher becomes green the right arrow. From version 0.05beta1 is available a simple tone generation section, that uses presets.
There are a "stable" and an "unstable" version, both may not work properly, but the "stable" one has been tested for a year, so its problems are more or less known. Download the unstable version only if you want to test it and help with its development, reporting bugs and problems.
Enhancements:
- Added Alsa support and simple tone playing, with preset support.

Mustajuuri 0.2.9
Mustajuuri is an audio signal processing application and toolkit. more>>
Mustajuuri (Black salsify, Scorzonera hispanica) is an audio signal processing application and toolkit. It is designed to meet wide range of needs.
The first and foremost is real-time effects processing. Mustajuuri can process guitar, vocals or any instrument with ease. It is also useful if you have a virtual reality system with more than 10 loudspeakers and you wonder how to control them all.
The basic philosophy is to combine the good features of many existing applications - not to simply copy one. Apps Id like to surpass are ProTools, CuBase and all the others. To make this possible Mustajuuri has an extremely flexible and powerful plugin model.
Mustajuuri acts as a core framework upon which applications can be built. One can build applications directly as plugins (quite easy) or use the Mustajuuri libraries and plugins as a class library.
Usages:
- Sound file editing
- Mixing
- Real-time effects processing
- Real-time sound analysis
- Sound processing for virtual reality system
Main features:
- Graphical user interface
- Good real-time operation
- Plugin-based system
- LADSPA plugin support (both import and export)
- Plugins for audio file I/O and MIDI I/O
- Openness - both as open source and as open for different uses
- Platfrom-agnostic
- Internationalization
- Multiple user interface options
- Easy-to-program plugin API with powerful support libraries
Enhancements:
- This release adds some ALSA-related bugfixes, compiles cleanly on GCC 4, and adds documentation about Mustajuuri to LADSPA plugin conversion.
