Gecko Media Player is a browser plugin that uses GNOME MPlayer to play media in a browser. more>>
Gecko Media Player is a browser plugin that uses GNOME MPlayer to play media in a browser.

The project should work with all browsers on Unix-ish systems(Linux, BSD, Solaris) and use the NS4 API (Mozilla, Firefox, Opera, etc.).

Gecko Media Player is in heavy development, but I wanted to get some code drops out there so that people can start using and testing it.

This release is primarily to get some nice bug fixes out to everyone; Ive highlighted these below.
Its also one of the very few times where we didnt need to make any changes to account for new mozilla releases (of course, there are lots of changes to keep up with mozilla cvs).
Enhancements:
- This release will actually build against Mozilla 1.7.5+.

BackArrow 0.84

BackArrow 0.84

Backarrow is a Gtk+ Web Browser. more>>
Backarrow is a Gtk+ Web Browser. This release is an un-official version to work with Mozilla 1.6. If you dont want to use it, get an official version from http://www.muhri.net/skipstone. BackArrow was a project to create a K-Meleon style web browser for GNU/Linux. The project died after the creator started using ELinks and the console in general.
Skipstone is a Gtk+ web browser that embeds the mozilla HTML rendering agent Gecko. Backarrow is fast, light, resource friendly.
Installation has been made much easier with the new configure script. There are three different methods for installation, and each is outlined in this file so you can compare and choose the one that is most suitable for your needs and current configuration.
The three options are:
1. Use a binary skipstone build with either a source or binary mozilla build
2. Use a source skipstone build with a binary mozilla build and mozilla header files
3. Use a source skipstone build with a source mozilla build
The details of each installation follow, with pros and cons of each mentioned. Some of the sections will rely on information provided in others, so if you have any difficulties, scan the other sections as well.
Enhancements:
- Compiles on MacOSX/Darwin
- Patch from Daniel for checking pid > 0 in the case of a corrupt running file.

The mail parser was totally rewritten from the original version: now its greatly improved, and it can read every kind of email.

The Nameko webmail has also been totally rewritten: now it has a great interface, fast, powerful, with a lot of advanced tools.

Each component of the webmail is customizable, with a sort of plug-ins system: you can add only the plug-ins for the functions you really need.

The basic version on Nameko is always a one-file script: so simple tu set up!

Nameko technology

Nameko is a set of PHP classes. It requires PHP 5 at server side: it doesnt work with older version of PHP.

At the client side Nameko require a browser that support Javascript and CSS. The best choose is Firefox, or one of the other Gecko based browsers such as Mozilla or Netscape Navigator. It also works with Opera, Konqueror and Internet Explorer, for both Linux and Microsoft Windows platforms. I know there are some problem with browsers for Mac, and Im working to fix them.

The communication between the browser and the server it has been used the AJAX technology and XML: that make the interface to be more responsive and hopefully easier to use. Im working also on a traditional interface, to make the webmail accessible also for older and textual browsers.

multicolumn is a Firefox extension that sllows web pages to be configured to display in multiple columns. more>>
multicolumn is a Firefox extension that sllows web pages to be configured to display in multiple columns using Firefox 1.5 (Gecko 1.8) CSS property -moz-column-count, inspired by the draft CSS3 module: Multi-column layout. Make better use of high res screen real estate.

To see it in operation, install it, restart firefox, and then try visiting digg, slashdot, or google (for google, you need to do a search before youll see anything).

To change the number of columns to suit your screen or to configure it for another site, go into the settings tab (thin strip at the top of the browser window - click "more previews" above too see this highlighted on a screenshot).

Note that the tabs will only appear on sites which are configured (eg digg, slashdot, google).

To stop this extension from affecting a particular website, uncheck the relevant checkbox on the settings tab.

Further documentation is available on the settings tab.

CookiePie 0.5.5

CookiePie 0.5.5

CookiePie is a Firefox extension enabling you to maintain different cookies storage in different tabs and windows. more>>
CookiePie is a Firefox extension enabling you to maintain different cookies storage in different tabs and windows.
You can open multiple Gmail/Yahoo Mail accounts in different tabs and windows simulteanously. Developers can use CookiePie to test their Web software with different applications users without needing to open a different browser.
How I can use it?
Download it from: CookiePie Extension
Use the tab context menu to enable CookiePie
For example: Toogle CookiePie in three tabs, and login to different GMail account in both.
Where the idea came from?
We need to use it internally at Nektra, and finally decide to publish it for the community.
What does CookiePie means for the end user?
It means that you can for example open multiple GMail/Yahoo Mail/Hotmail accounts in different tabs and windows simulteanously.
What does CookiePie means for web developers?
Developers working on Web Software supporting multiple users or profiles can use CookiePie to simultaneusly test their software with each user without needing to open a different browser.
How CookiePie was made?
A first look at the FireFox extensions capabilities let us think this extension was almost impossible to do. One of the limitations was the unconnected parts between http transactions and UI being difficult to correlate an UI to a specific http request/response, more when AJAX/XmlHttpRequest (i.e: GMail) is involved.
The work involved mainly short term research and trying to push to the extreme FireFox capabilities without knowing nothing of Mozilla Extensions at the start of development.
Version restrictions:
- Gecko 1.8.1 has some implementation errors: FireFox store cookies although our http observer changes the response header. This means the common cookies are changed in the FireFox extensions for every transaction on each tab. More information at: Mozilla Bugzilla
- The reordering of tabs is breaking GMail account opened tabs.
- GMail has added after we finish this extension, an alert we hope to repair it so GMail doesnt know about another connection on another tab or window.
- User may experience problems with another Firefox extensions (for example Tab Mix Plus)

AreaEdit 0.4.5

AreaEdit 0.4.5

AreaEdit is a formVista compatible fork of the rapidly developing Xinha project. more>>
AreaEdit is a formVista compatible fork of the rapidly developing Xinha project. AreaEdit project is the code that is generated by the formVista FVML < htmleditor > tag during rendering.
Xinha itself is a fork of the original HTMLArea component created by Mihai Bazon and sponsored by Interactivetools. AreaEdit maintains the original HTMLArea (modified BSD) license and is free to use.
While it is designed to work within formVista without modification, AreaEdit does not requre formVista. It is a fully functional editor component supporting a number of plugins and can as easily be used as a standalone editor component for any PHP web application.
The primary difference between AreaEdit and Xinha is one of focus. The Xinha project aims to be a rapidly developing feature-filled editor with many plugins.
By contrast, AreaEdit takes a slower minimalists approach. It aims first and foremost to be functional and maintainable. The feature set we are focusing on is targeted squarely at the serious non-technical business user. Business users dont care about the nuances of HTML
and

tags, they just want the editor to work as they would expect.
If your audience is primarly composed to developers or those familar with HTML, you should take a look at Xinha.
AreaEdit is known to work with MSIE 5.5 or later and any modern Gecko based browsers. (FireFox, Mozilla).
Enhancements:
- This release finally works around the intermittent MSIE "Operation Aborted" error that were seen in some installs.
- The documentation and examples have been updated.

Shezhu Resource Sharing System 1.18

Shezhu Resource Sharing System 1.18

Shezhu Resource Sharing System is an application for scheduling and booking shared resources. more>>
Shezhu Resource Sharing System project is an application for scheduling and booking shared resources such as rooms and equipment.
The client only needs a modern Web browser.
It has a user friendly point and click interface, visual filters for making block/repeat bookings, concurrent users and double booking prevention, allows local site customization, and supports configurable academic term/semester blocks.
Main features:
- Portable - client only needs a modern web browser
- Point and Click - almost no typing required
- Intuitive - simple, obvious, consistent and user friendly
- Innovative - visual filters for making block/repeat bookings
- Powerful - concurrent users and double booking prevention
- Configurable - local site customization supported
- Useful - built in support for configurable academic term, semester and session blocks
- Free!
Requirements
In order to run or build the Shezhu Resource Sharing System you need some third-party software available on your machine.
Client
The client needs a modern web browser and the best browsers for this application are Firefox, Mozilla (including the Netscape branded equivalent and Gecko derivatives such as Galeon) and Microsoft Internet Explorer. The newest versions of all these browsers will work best. This application also works with the Konqueror and Opera browsers but these have some issues which may affect functionality. All browsers need JavaScript enabled. Any of these browsers may not work properly (or at all) depending on the operating system they are running under. Text based browsers (such as Lynx) are not supported.
For a comprehensive list of supported client browsers and operating systems refer to this browser compatibility chart from the most recent release of the application.
Server
The server needs recent versions of the Apache web server and the MySQL database server.
The server has only been tested on Redhat9 and FedoraCore3 Linux/i386 platforms although there is no specific reason why it should not work on other Linux platforms and distributions.
Development
Rebuilding this application from source requires a standard Unix development environment with the sh, make, cc, cpp, sed and awk utilities. Also required are RCS, Perl (5.6+) and the ImageMagick program. Also required is RPM to build a distribution. All these programs would probably come as standard in Linux distributions, other platforms may not have all of them by default.
Enhancements:
- This release adds support for Apache2 and multi-site installations, internal restructuring, a better installation tree, and improved access control management.
